Will You Chill Out if I Sprinkle You With Pixie Dust? The End p136 *New TR Link* p138

"Did you get the kids up?" !!!!! Are you kidding me?

You could have posted 100 pics of FOTLK and I wouldn't have minded. I love that show. I must admit, though, that I've never gotten a pic of the fire twirler with his face or crotch on fire! ;)

When we got back to the villa Matt was still up and talking with Nick. The second I walked in Nick said, “Aunt Mary Ellen, Matt has something he wants to tell you”.

Matt proceeded to say, “Aunt Mary Ellen. I know you want to get up early and get everyone to the parks on time, but can you not come out here so early and wake me up?” “I could hear you making coffee this morning and I couldn’t go back to sleep”.

Denny immediately chimes in “yeah, Aunt Mary Ellen”

What the………..?

My own husband just threw me under the bus for a 10 year old to drive over. I was so angry with him at that moment because I was trying to think of a reasonable reply that would keep everyone happy. It was now too late for that because what I wanted to say was……

“Well, Matt since you asked, I can make the coffee in my room, but I will be coming out here sometime after 7am to go for a run and to get ready to leave for the parks”.

Instead of being able to say that, I just gave up and went to bed. Coffee pot and all!

Next up – AK Rope Drop for MEK, but what about everyone else?

And Where or Where is my Cinnamon bun from the Main Street Bakery?

 Whooops!! So sorry, Mary Ellen. I bet that night wasn't fun for Denny. :scared: Your brother sounds like he's not very......brotherly. I know the feeling allllllll to well.

I'm kinda shocked your boy would be willing to throw you out there like that too. I'm with Glenn and others, I would have said something similar about him sleeping when he gets home, This is Disney! I would have turned to Nick and said do you really want to see Aunt Mary Ellen without her coffee?!? :rotfl:
I hate trips like that, the whole things is one big stress ball, especially when not everyone gets it, or goes into it with an attitude.

Hope it turns out better as time goes on. :upsidedow

Love the update! You have some terrific pictures!

Thanks! So glad you enjoyed the pictures. I haven't seen FOTLK since 2008 so I was out full force with the camera!

Ed suffers from PF also. And he says the same thing - he doesn't feel it when he's running, only when walking/standing around. Luckily, it hasn't flared up in a good while. I hope it didn't bother you in the parks.

My foot was messed up the whole trip. It's still not right. It doesn't hurt when I run, but afterwards it flares right back up. I think its because I increased my runs from 2-3X per week to 5-6X per week. Then, as soon as I started wearing the flat tevas in the park - Bam! I have a little brace thingy that helps a lot.

I don't blame you one bit for not waking up your nephews. There is no way I would have woken them up either.

No freakin' way! Matt told me not to wake him up and I took that very literally.

And I'm sorry you didn't have your cinnamon roll. I hope you were able to get another one later in the trip to enjoy. I'm especially feeling your pain about the cinnamon roll because all I wanted for breakfast this morning was a cinnamon roll from Cinnabon. Ed & Reid went out to get me one & they weren't open. :headache:

I  Cinnabon! So good! I will do a do-over cinnamon bun in October. I know Cynthia won't let me forget.

I'm a bit scared about the cookie toss. I'm wondering if it is what I think it is. :confused3

I think its probably exactly what you think it is. :rolleyes1 But who? :rotfl:

This update was right up my alley! Expedition Everest and Festival of the Lion King are two my absolute favorite Disney things! :goodvibes

Really? I do love them both. EE is probably my favorite roller coaster there. It is just so well themed from start to finish. I really enjoyed FOTLK. I haven't seen it since 2008!

I can't blame you for getting a little 'snarky' like you said. They're not your kids. Not your job to wake them up!

There was no way I was going to wake them up, especially after the proceeding night's conversation. No freakin' way!

Ok now I'm wondering what a cookie toss is. I'm having fun making up things it might be in my head though.

Keep imagining what it could be. Hint - it wasn't pretty! :rolleyes1

Wow, even more beautiful parade pictures! Very nice job. :thumbsup2 Such a gorgeous parade. I can't wait to see it again! :woohoo:

Thank you! I'm glad I remembered that photobucket wasn't cooperating during my upload. How could I leave out "To Honor America". :confused3

Too bad you didn't get your cinnamon bun, but you're so maternal, giving your prized pastry to your family. I was happy to read that it was your decision, after your hints I thought maybe someone stole it while you were out on your run!

I hid it in my room, so I knew it was safe. I am actually surprised that I gave both halves away. But I really felt bad for Nick being home with nothing to eat for breakfast.

Oh how ironic of your SIL, asking if you got her kids up. :lmao: I don't blame you one ounce for getting your back up a little! And good for you for just heading out to AK with a "I'm going, you can meet me there!" attitude. Love it! :thumbsup2

I did tell her that Matt asked me not to wake them up so she wouldn't think I had totally lost my mind. But still, she wasn't there for the "don't wake me up" conversation, so some of it may have been lost on her.

Let me just say that not waiting for them proved to be a pivotal point in this whole trip.

You got some really nice pics in FOTLK and in the EE queue! That's my favourite thing about AK I think, it's all so photogenic!

Thanks! AK, as you probably already know, is my absolute favorite park to take pictures in. Photographers dream!

Great pictures as always!

Thank you! :goodvibes

I feel that I never spend as much time in AK as I should, maybe due to the heat. The details are so intricate and beautiful, and you really captured a good deal of them, so I'm impressed!

Thank you! I really started to fall in love with AK when I got into photography. I would see other's pictures and just love all the details. Then when I upgraded my camera and started taking my own pictures, well, the fascination just grew. There is so much eye candy at AK. I just love it there.

I'm intrigued by the cookie toss and am excited to read more soon!

Get ready. It's not pretty! popcorn::

Oh I want to check out that path if it isn't too miserable out. Interesting that your plantar fasciitis doesn't impact your running but very cool that it doesn't!

Cynthia - I wish I could tell you exactly where that path starts, but I'm not sure. So ask when they give you a resort map. It's not that far of a run/walk and it will give you a great chance to explore the treehouse, pool hop if you want, and you can keep going right to the Springs. If you guys rent bikes, its a must!

How classic that she asked you if you'd woken the kids, I'd have been snarky too and a tad annoyed that they'd just left for a walk without leaving a note!

In her defense, she did not know that Matt had asked me not to wake him up.

Yeah - I was a little surprised that they left and we didn't know, but I guess they figured there were enough adults around to supervise the kids.

Wonderful FOTLK pics, that may be the single most thing I'm looking forward too, I can't wait!

I haven't seen FOTLK since 2008, so I was more than ready after waiting 4 1/2 years. It's a great show. Enjoy! :thumbsup2

After the message that was conveyed to you right before you went to bed, they ask you if you got the kids up???!!! :furious:

How did you hold it together?

They really didn't know about the "talk" Michael and I had the night before so I guess they figured I would just starting getting everyone up. It was hard to hold it together, but I realized it would be stupid to get mad at them. I just tried to explain the situation. Still.

I like your pictures from EE. So you broke the rim of a lens in December? But you didn't actually have the camera out...just not put away well enough?

Exactly. I think the lens cap must have fallen off the top of the lens was near the top of the bag and I stepped on it. Now my lens cap won't stay on, but thanks to Teekathepony's suggestion I bought a lens cap holder and it worked like a charm. Whenever the cap fell off it stayed attached to the camera. Seriously, a life saver. Thank you Wendy! :flower3:

Your run path that morning looks beautiful! I always forget that things by DTD are really close together! The Characters in Flight balloon looks so close!

It really did look close and I loved seeing it as a backdrop for several of my runs. SSR has such beautiful grounds. It's a runners dream!

Oh boy...I probably would have been a little snarky too at that point! :rolleyes1

Tell me about it. I didn't want to come off snarky, but I was still stinging a bit from the night before. Not good!

AWESOME FOTLK photos!!! You got some beautiful shots!! I am almost positive that flash photography IS allowed there, and I remember being really surprised that it was!

Thank you! I think I did see flashes, which is surprising. In a lot of those shows the flashes can be bothersome to the actors. I took them all without a flash, just to see if I could do it.

Matt would NEVER survive vacation with us...

We used to stay in an efficiency and the kids ended up on aero beds where ever there was room.. one got in front of the TV.. and the other in front of the fridge... the one in front of the fridge thought he got the bad place until I explained to him that I could always change the TV from my bed.. but I would have to get through HIM to get a snack!!!

& the kids woke up as soon as I popped the air lock on the aero bed... when they hit the hard floor.. they were up!!! :woohoo::woohoo:

I'm glad your Cinnamon bun didn't disappear. You're too kind to give it up. I hope you get one for just you in October.

Everest is the best way to start your day in AK. I hope your family enjoyed FOTLK. We love it!

Enjoyed your update. Thanks for the bonus parade pictures!

I'm impressed by your dedication to running. Looks like a really beautiful trail. What a bonus being able to spy DTD while you running.

Glad you made it to almost rope drop and had a great time on EE. You know, I'm not sure if I have ever been in the regular line for that. I think I always ride it with FP. I love you pictures from the queue- the one of many-armed goddess and the lion. So crisp!

Your description of your discussions with the bird-lady is hilarious. Yup, I totally sympathize with the details being a bit fuzzy!

I'm glad everyone is back together and it sounds like they didn't do too badly getting their act together.

I love the Lion King show, but it has been a few years. And I think I have only seen it twice. The boys don't "do" shows. :headache:

Well, I'm going to hazard a guess that it wasn't you tossing the cookies, because you didn't have a cookie (or cinnamon bun) to toss!

Why the heck would you get her kids up? LOL weird!

I love your tumble monkey pictures. I think you did a great job with them. That one with the face almost looks like you photoshopped someone elses face in it.

/
Whoa, I wasn't even over the kid complaining about a morning coffee pot at a normal waking hour and now SIL asks if you woke the kids? Those endorphins from running must be pretty powerful!!!! I would have had a bit more to say!

First a temper tantrum, a saucy youngster and now a cookie toss? Oh boy!

Think it's funny she asked if you got the kids up, like, funny as in, is she INSANE?:lmao:

Upcoming cookie toss, I'm going to guess either your brother or your SIL goes on EE and loses their breakfast... And they blame you and Disney for it!:rotfl2:

I live in Snarky-ville, you were Snarky Lite. I'm really hoping your October trip is STRESS FREE!:wizard:

How in the world could someone go 51 years without going to an amusement park?:confused3 That's mind boggling! I mean even accidentally you could end up at one!!! That is simply the strangest thing I have ever heard, including just walking off right before a parade starts. Just so odd. God Bless you in advance for taking her to DL. Oh my.:upsidedow

Suffice to say, that as unbelievable as it is, it is one hundred percent true!:thumbsup2 She never even went to a fair, until after she had been married to my brother for a few years, (2007). They have gone to the CA state fair once and have not gone to an amusement park or fair since. When I still lived in CA, I got seasons passes for my daughter, niece, (whom I raised), and I one summer at 6 Flags over Marine World. We had free guest passes. The girls were bringing friends along, but I had my pass. I tried to talk them into going with, after all, it was my brothers daughter, and told them I would buy their second ticket. No go. I'll leave it there, as I don't think I would be kind to say anything more.

MEK, you're pictures are absolutly wonderful! I notice things that I have not taken the time to notice while there in person, chasing grandmunchkins. lol.

Your parade pictures brought tears to my eyes, remembering all of my childhood memories of the ELP at Disneyland, then being blessed enough to share it with my grandmunchkins on our Aug. 2011 trip.

Looking at your FOTLK pictures reminded me how I always tear up at parts of that show too. Oh my gosh, are you sensing a trend?! I won't even bring up Wishes, lol.:rotfl:

Since the mystery of the bun is solved, which happened to be a much better outcome than I expected, I will also hope for the best concerning 'the cookie toss.':scared::rolleyes::crazy2:

Looking forward to more and hoping you will find a way to help your PF. I have 2 friends who swear theirs was cured by tumeric. You can buy capsules at the health food store and it's primary purpose is to decrease inflammation. They both are free from pain.

I'm hoping it is throwing a cookie to another person or animal to consume and not a type of post-consumption action!

:rolleyes1 You know - they do have a new party in the park at AK that involves lots of dancing and games.......

I love the pictures!! i've never seen FOTLK. That's another must do for our trip!! LOL!

FOTLK is a great show. I really don't know which I like more - FOTLK or Nemo. They are both so well done. I definitely think they are the two best shows on property. Both of them are so vibrant and have such great actors/singers.

I have to admit that I absolutely love your snarkyness. LOL! I probably would have said the same thing. Because my patience would have been tested by that point as well. LOL!

I'm glad that they all made it though! LOL!

My SIL had no idea that one of her kids asked not to be woken up. So I felt a little bad get snarky with her. I was going to tell her about the conversation and then they disappeared. It was odd. I am glad they got in there and got everyone going.

I love the pictures of the treehouses. They look awesome! Maybe one day we can stay there. LOL!!

It's definitely a cool place to stay. :goodvibes

I'm really wondering about the cookie toss.... LOL!!

Next update! popcorn::

I know I would have been snarky, if not downright angry, if after I had been lectured about waking up kids, giving away my cinnamon roll, and finding the parents gone, I was asked that question. I would had been

It was ironic, that's for sure. The funny thing is, if we hadn't felt so confined to our room, we probably would have known they were gone. But we were afraid to come out of the bedroom. :(

On the bright side - glad you got on EE and got some nice pictures too!! We are contemplating trying EE for the first time on our next trip.

I was determined to get on EE without a wait and I told them that when we left. I said "I want to ride EE before it gets crowded".

EE is great. Love it! I wish our trips overlapped more because I would definitely ride it with you guys!

Caught up with your updates now. I am glad you finally got to see MSEP, crazy that your SIL left before it started! I was disappointed that I missed it this past trip, but I hope that by my next trip (2014!) Spectro is back in some form, I really like that one.

I'm glad I got to see MSEP too, but I do love Spectro and I hope it returns. I love the music and I haven't photographed it with my new camera, so it better retunr. :rotfl:

I really wish they had stayed for the parade. I think they would have loved it. Too bad. :headache:

Sorry you didn't get to eat your cinnamon roll but I was glad to know that you at least willingly gave it away and nobody snatched it :)

The cinnamon bun looked SO good! I can't wait to finally try one! YUM!

Curious to find out what this "Cookie Toss" is...

Coming up in the next update. popcorn::

"Did you get the kids up?" !!!!! Are you kidding me?

Sort of ironic, huh? :rolleyes1 That's what I FELT like saying, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????????", but she really didn't know about the prior evening's conversation. I guess it seemed like a logical question at the time.

You could have posted 100 pics of FOTLK and I wouldn't have minded. I love that show. I must admit, though, that I've never gotten a pic of the fire twirler with his face or crotch on fire! ;)

I have more FOTLK, I just couldn't post anymore yesterday because I was running short on time. They will be with the next update.

Yeah - my mad photographing skills caught more than what was really supposed to be in the show. :rotfl2:

 Whooops!! So sorry, Mary Ellen. I bet that night wasn't fun for Denny. :scared: Your brother sounds like he's not very......brotherly. I know the feeling allllllll to well.

My brother and I have always gotten along really well, but this trip really put a wedge in that because it pushed my brother outside of his comfort zone. I knew he needed to be pushed, but the process was difficult for him. Part of me wishes I have never tried to "rock his boat", but part of me is glad I did.

I'm kinda shocked your boy would be willing to throw you out there like that too. I'm with Glenn and others, I would have said something similar about him sleeping when he gets home, This is Disney! I would have turned to Nick and said do you really want to see Aunt Mary Ellen without her coffee?!? :rotfl:

My son, Nick, always complains when we get him up. He is very nocturnal when he's not in school and on the weekends, so this is a pretty frequent rant in our house. I just ignore it, but he should not have stirred the pot with Matt. :stir: And Aunt ME without her coffee is bad, REALLY bad!

I hate trips like that, the whole things is one big stress ball, especially when not everyone gets it, or goes into it with an attitude.

Hope it turns out better as time goes on.

That's exactly how it was feeling - like a big stress ball, but it really did get better! So stay tuned. In fact, the whole thing has a surprise ending.

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl: This is a GREAT story! I love it! I can just picture you going down the line and deflating all the aero beds. Priceless! And how could the kids get mad - you had to deflate the beds sooner or later, right? :rolleyes1

I'm glad your Cinnamon bun didn't disappear. You're too kind to give it up. I hope you get one for just you in October.

I will have one just for me in October. I probably should have bought two the night before. I guess I wasn't thinking all that well. Bad planning!

Everest is the best way to start your day in AK. I hope your family enjoyed FOTLK. We love it!

I love, LOVE, LOVE Everest. It never fails to please! Such a great ride! :thumbsup2 Everyone really enjoyed FOTLK too! :woohoo:

Enjoyed your update. Thanks for the bonus parade pictures!

Thanks. glad you enjoyed the pics. I have some more FOTLK that I will post with the next update!

I'm impressed by your dedication to running. Looks like a really beautiful trail. What a bonus being able to spy DTD while you running.

I keep running because I know if I stop, I probably won't start again. Plus I really do enjoy it. I get that runner's high so it becomes somewhat of a mindless activity for me. SSR is a great place to run. I would love to go back in the cooler weather and really take advantage of all the running paths.

Glad you made it to almost rope drop and had a great time on EE. You know, I'm not sure if I have ever been in the regular line for that. I think I always ride it with FP. I love you pictures from the queue- the one of many-armed goddess and the lion. So crisp!

There are some cool things to look at in the queue. I generally don't go in the regular queue either. I'm a big fan of the single rider line when I don't have a FP, but it wasn't open yet and my DH will not go in it. It's very odd, but its this little idiosyncrasy he has. :confused3

Your description of your discussions with the bird-lady is hilarious. Yup, I totally sympathize with the details being a bit fuzzy!

Very fuzzy! I think I was still lost on the concept of paying for an Ivy League education to study orinthology or what ever its called. :rotfl:

I'm glad everyone is back together and it sounds like they didn't do too badly getting their act together.

I love the Lion King show, but it has been a few years. And I think I have only seen it twice. The boys don't "do" shows. :headache:

I haven't seen FOTLK since 2008. I got into the habit of seeing Nemo every trip and I think its hard to see both shows, ride the Safari, do EE, ride Dinosaur, and do the walking paths all in the same day. I just can never organize it right.

Well, I'm going to hazard a guess that it wasn't you tossing the cookies, because you didn't have a cookie (or cinnamon bun) to toss!

Nope! Wasn't me! :rolleyes2

Why the heck would you get her kids up? LOL weird!

I know, right? Even if Matt hadn't told me to let him sleep, I'm still not a big fan of getting up someone else's kids unless it had all been prearranged.

I love your tumble monkey pictures. I think you did a great job with them. That one with the face almost looks like you photoshopped someone elses face in it.

Thanks! I'm happy with how most of them turned out. Not quite as clear as I wanted, but still OK. I wish I did know how to photoshop. I really need to take a class. It's on my bucket list!

Whoa, I wasn't even over the kid complaining about a morning coffee pot at a normal waking hour and now SIL asks if you woke the kids? Those endorphins from running must be pretty powerful!!!! I would have had a bit more to say!

Running endorphins actually DO have a calming effect on me, so perhaps you're right. :rotfl: My SIL didn't know about the previous night's conversation, but I still wouldn't wake up her kids without her asking me to ahead of time. Just not going there!

First a temper tantrum, a saucy youngster and now a cookie toss? Oh boy!

It's always an adventure when you travel with family. That's for sure! popcorn:: At least it makes for an entertaining TR!

Think it's funny she asked if you got the kids up, like, funny as in, is she INSANE?:lmao:

:rotfl2: I really don't know why she would assume I would get her kids up. I would never expect someone to wake my kids up. It's unpleasant enough for me. :rotfl: I wouldn't wish that on anyone!

Upcoming cookie toss, I'm going to guess either your brother or your SIL goes on EE and loses their breakfast... And they blame you and Disney for it!:rotfl2:

I think you are on to something there! :rolleyes1 Stay tuned! popcorn::

I live in Snarky-ville, you were Snarky Lite. I'm really hoping your October trip is STRESS FREE!:wizard:

Actually, I can be quite snarky at home. Just ask my DH! :rotfl: It could be my middle name.

October will be totally different because I am traveling with another DISer (eandesmom). We were roommates in May 2011 and we got along really well. We actually had never met in person until that trip. She is pretty chill!

Wow - and she WANTS to go to Disney World? Maybe she shouldn't even bother to buy a ticket. She might as well stay at the resort all day! WDW is so far beyond a regular amusement park, but still?

MEK, you're pictures are absolutly wonderful! I notice things that I have not taken the time to notice while there in person, chasing grandmunchkins. lol.

Thanks! When I stated reading the TRs on the DIS boards I noticed that some people had amazing, detailed pictures. It really intrigued me, so I bought a good camera a couple years ago and I have had so much fun with it. I tend to have a little ADD, so I often miss fine details. Photography helps me to capture the details I miss. It's been really good for me to look at the world a different way.

Your parade pictures brought tears to my eyes, remembering all of my childhood memories of the ELP at Disneyland, then being blessed enough to share it with my grandmunchkins on our Aug. 2011 trip.

That must have been a great experience. Not that I am hoping for any grandchildren in my immediate future :scared1:, but it does sound like a great thing!

Looking at your FOTLK pictures reminded me how I always tear up at parts of that show too. Oh my gosh, are you sensing a trend?! I won't even bring up Wishes, lol.:rotfl:

I am a big sap when it comes to all things Disney, too. I used to cry everytime I saw the castle. The American Adventure gets me everytime. I have to wear sunglasses in there! :rotfl:

Since the mystery of the bun is solved, which happened to be a much better outcome than I expected, I will also hope for the best concerning 'the cookie toss.':scared::rolleyes::crazy2:

Stay tuned! popcorn:: Next update!

Looking forward to more and hoping you will find a way to help your PF. I have 2 friends who swear theirs was cured by tumeric. You can buy capsules at the health food store and it's primary purpose is to decrease inflammation. They both are free from pain.

Thanks for that information. I have never heard that before, but I am a big believer in complimentary and holistic medicine. I use Vitamin D and a probiotic routinely and I swear they both have worked great. I will have to look into the tumeric.

I'm just starting to read your TR and am LOLing at your flight crew on D-Day. :rotfl2:

so mad I have to go to work today BUT at least I have some reading material to come home to! YAY!:banana::banana:

I am always amazed that you can go for a run in Disney, even with PF! :worship: My feet always hurt SO bad after a few days of walking in Disney that if I tried to run, I'd probably die!

Haha, I don't blame you for getting a little snarky with your bro, I wouldn't be waking his kids up either! :rotfl: That was nice of you to give away your cinnamon roll, I hope you got another one at some point in the trip!

Yay, AK! I always look forward to your AK updates because you take the most beautiful pictures there! It was your pictures from a few TR's ago that made me realize what a lovely park it really is!

I love Festival of the Lion King, I can't wait to see it again in November! :cool1:

Woohoo on your Oct trip fast approaching and yay on the waitlist coming through! :cool1:

Yay on being able to sit whilst watching MSEP!

OMG on your sister leaving just mins before the parade...that's crazy!!! She missed out on a great show.

Love the pics and it bought back memeories of me watching it on a rainy night on my own because Zaheer couldn't be bothered to wait either! :lmao:

Haha it is amazing how Disney are able to do that Magic, Memories and You show!

You sure had to deal with a lot during this trip...not sure I would've been able to stay quiet with the comment about not making so much noise in the morning.

Yay on getting to AK and riding EE!

Great Tree of Life and FOTLK pics :thumbsup2

As always your photos capture details wonderfully. I always say it but maybe this time will do something about it... I need to spend more time exploring AK. And on that note I've never seen FOTLK so perhaps time to rectify that as well.

Kudos for giving up your cinnamon roll. That was a sacrifice!! Yum!!

Hope the day got better.... although the cookie toss sounds... ominous...

"Did you wake the kids?" :furious: That might have thrown me over the edge! I'm glad you & Denny didn't wait around for them. A ride on EE will turn my frown upside down any day!

Tim has PF (can't spell it...) and it really bothered him during our fall 2011 trip. Luckily he was OK this year in April. I hope it didn't bother you much...

Sorry I am not getting to the rest of the replies right away. I am marching at the State Fair this evening, so I have to get ready in a few minutes.

I took a really nasty trip and fall today while out running. Not sure why, but I decided to run on the side walk in a development that I don't normally run in. I was looking straight ahead and totally missed this ridge between the sidewalk and the driveway. I literally did a face plant. I literally left the skin of my knuckles on the sidewalk. The last thing I feel like doing is marching in a parade 90 minutes away. Ugh! Oh well.

So, If I don't do replies tonight, it will be tomorrow. See Ya!
