Will You Chill Out if I Sprinkle You With Pixie Dust? The End p136 *New TR Link* p138

How long is FOTLK? We have never been and I think that it sounds super fun! Our days are pretty regimented with ADRs but I would like to find a time to fit this in this trip.

Pat - I did not know you had your own personal favorite tumbling monkey. Who knew? :confused3

YUP :rotfl2:

I'm surprised that the flash doesn't bother them, but maybe all the seating is at a safe distance. Good to know the rules. I really tried to pay attention to that stuff this trip.

I think all the bright lights overhead make anything other than a direct light beam okay. :confused3

Ohhhh - that sounds bad. This was just weird. I was looking ahead towards the intersection and this wasn't an obvious flaw in the sidewalk/driveway junction and *POW* I was airborne. I think I hit the sidewalk and actually bounced up and down again. :faint:

Sounds like something I would do. Complete with bounce. :sad2:

Most embarrassing was when the neighbor's dog ran out of their garage and I tried to keep running. Dog got right in my path and well I basically tripped over the dog. I aimed for the lawn to roll out on because I did not want to land on the dog ( A golden retriever) :rotfl2:
My neighbor was out watching the whole thing so I was a bit embarrassed but he was too.

Grace I tell you. :rotfl2:

I have had PF too and roll your foot out on a tennis ball. Worked for me big time.

Judging by pictures the show runs about 30 minutes. Add a bit to get down there and the wait to get in and your whole time not doing something else can be up to an hour. This summer there was a show every hour on the hour.

Sometimes they are on the half hour so check the schedule.

Wow - can't believe Evan has PF. What a drag. I never thought about a chiropracter for PF, but I have considered it for my neck. I have a foot brace that I am using (actually two) and it provides really good arch support. But, yes, I need a pair of mom-mom shoes with arch support. I also ice it with frozen peas and if I message it, that helps. It's pretty good right now.

Thanks! I am feeling pretty good today. Not perfect, but far from terrible. I do want to start running again, but I'm a little nervous.

Not sure about the mom mom shoes lol! Evans pt. has him using hard orthotics, not the soft comfy kind and then we supplement with heel cups and have him put them in any and every shoe. Stretching, ice and a foam roller does wonders. I'm amazed you can run, when his flares up he gets sidelined for at least a week. They even suggested a hard soled house slipper as being barefoot doesn't help

Playing catch up again! I know everyone else has said this, but I cannot believe you SIL got up and left right before the parade! No wonder they didn't have any fun, it's like they tried their hardest not too :confused3

I don't know what was up with that. I think she must have thought that the parade would be no big deal. Who knows, maybe she was the one who wanted to leave. I will never know!:confused3

I would have been upset by the 10 year old telling me to be quiet in the room I was paying for as well......

It was such an odd, unexpected moment. I know he was encouraged by Nick, but it totally came out of left field. I mean, people get up on vacation when the sun comes up if they want to get up and going. It's just what kids do.

You got some really great photos from FoTLK :thumbsup2

Thanks. I have a few more to post with m next update. It was a fun show and we all really enjoyed it.

Love all of your FotLK photos! I really hope we get to see this show with DS in October since we missed out on it last time. It is one of our favorites! Those tumbling monkeys are amazing. It feels like a mini Cirque du Soleil show in the middle of a Disney park with awesome Lion King music! :thumbsup2

Your description is right on. I feel the same way. If you like FOTLK then you are going to love Cirque. They really are all amazing - tumble monkeys, the other acrobats, and the singers. Love it!

So glad you like the pics!

I hope the cookie toss is more literal than what I am thinking of. :rotfl: Please let it be some chocolate chip cookies being thrown in the air and not the other thing!

Well, you're a nurse, so lets just say that its the type of cookie toss that you are used to dealing with. :rotfl:

Your FoTLK photos are amazing. A personal favorite show of mine, and your pictures reminded me of why I think it's highly entertaining.

Thank you! It really is an entertaining show and I enjoy looking at my own pictures because it brings back the memories of the show. I can never take all that activity in at once, so seeing the pictures gives me little slices of the action.

Hmm, having to hide out in your room to make coffee and get ready for your morning run does not sound like the best thing to have to go through. And, I agree, there's no way I'd fall into the trap of waking up other people's kids...
:rolleyes2

It really wasn't the way I wanted to spend the morning. I basically knew he would need to get himself tired enough so that no noise bothered him. I think that happened fairly quickly and he never did complain again.

A coaster ride first thing in the morning is a great way to start a park day. Especially when you need an extra pick-me up. :thumbsup2

It is such an awesome adrenaline rush. Sometimes in Disney I wake up still tired and it takes me a little while to get going. A coaster works every time!

I'm curious, yet also slightly nervous to see what your update title entails...:worried:

:rotfl: Yeah - its not good! Stay tuned!

So happy marching went well and that you felt ok today!!:goodvibes:

Thanks! I hope it goes as well tomorrow. It's actually all the open cuts on my hands that are starting to hurt now. Not a surprise though. Ouch!

Since you have so many fantastic pictures, do you think you could show us one of you marching? I think that is the coolest!! My daughter was in a marching band in school, it was a blast to see them perform!

Our uniforms are actually quite boring because we are with a fire company. I actually don't have any pictures of us marching, but maybe I can get some tomorrow when I go back down to the state fair. I have always wanted to take pictures of the band, but I never can because I'm part of it. We did march in the inaugural parade because Joe Biden is from Delaware. It was an interesting experience.

How long is FOTLK? We have never been and I think that it sounds super fun! Our days are pretty regimented with ADRs but I would like to find a time to fit this in this trip.

I'd say 30 - 35 minutes. Add time for arrival and leaving. It gets crowded back there. Its a fun show. I hope you can fit it in!

Oh Pat - He is quite the handsome tumble monkey indeed! :thumbsup2

I think all the bright lights overhead make anything other than a direct light beam okay. :confused3

Makes sense!

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: Great story! Thanks for making me LOL! Now I don't feel quite as clumsy! The only thing that makes me not feel like a complete klutz is when a girl who say me fall told me she has tripped in the exact same spot.

I have had PF too and roll your foot out on a tennis ball. Worked for me big time.

That's a great idea. Thanks!

Wowsa. That boy has it bad. So glad to hear that the orthotics work for him. Mine is clearly not that bad, although about 20 years ago I got it so bad I could not walk AT all. It was the most painful thing ever and I had to stop running. I could only ride my bike. I got this little running brace when I finally could start again and I never had it flare until now.

That is seriously cool, that you got to march in the inaugural parade!! I hope you will be able to get pictures tomorrow. I would love to see some!!::yes:::firefight:

Oh that's good, I'm glad you don't have it that bad! Poor Evan...he is cursed with his mothers complete lack of flexibility...I amaze PT's on a regular basis as to just how tight I am! He's not much better. Has it been ok since you got back?

Just a quick checkin to say I hope you are doing better after the fall! I was so sorry to hear about that.

I played the flute when I was in high school. Very badly! Last chair. Sad to say I haven't really kept it up.

It started out as a very interesting experience. There was such an air of excitement there. We had to go through a lengthy security check, then we were bused to a staging area where we were fed and we got to watch the events on TV. They moved us out of the staging area sometime around 1:30pm. We started to walk to the start of the parade. At first everything was moving fine. It was sunny out, even though it was in the 40's. I brought lots of extra hand warmers, gloves, hat, ect that I could hide once we started to march.

Unfortunately, a horse got stuck in the grill of a truck and delayed the parade. Then the president and VP decided to walk part of the parade route instead of drive. Needless to say, the parade was seriously delayed. It was close to 4:45 - 5pm by the time we actually started to march. Despite my precautions, I was absolutely freezing and miserable by the time we started. At one point we all started dancing and clapping just to stay warm, but received the stern warning from security that we had to stop. :( There were high school kids there from the southern states that were so improperly dressed that they were literally freezing and I'm sure many had to abandon the parade.

I warmed up quickly once we did start and we literally marched for an hour. Unfortunately, there was a mix up and they did not let the right number of people into the stands. The stands were half empty. It was a shame to see so many empty bleachers.

That will be my first and last inaugural parade. :rotfl:

Its hard for me to picture you as inflexible, but I'll take your word for it.

Actually, it is a very minor, nagging discomfort that flares in the morning or after a run. But I can live with it as long as I stretch and wear my running brace thingy. :thumbsup2

Just a quick checkin to say I hope you are doing better after the fall! I was so sorry to hear about that.

Thanks! Yes - I am going better. Still a little stiff and sore, but I ran last night and I didn't trip, so YEAH!

I played the flute when I was in high school. Very badly! Last chair. Sad to say I haven't really kept it up.

I played in high school and then quit for many, many years. I started playing again about 10 years ago. I never really played the piccolo much because I didn't do marching band. I was just way too cool for that. :rotfl: So now I struggle with the piccolo. I'm not very good. But I am pretty decent with the flute and I love to play classical music.

Another flute player here! Our band never marched so hats off to people who can do that. I still play in an awesome community band and DD will be joining me this year (clarinet - I steered her away from flute. Too many of them!) she and DS are at Band camp this week. DH plays trombone. Proud band geek family!

A little bit of a hijack here. My youngest son Ben plays trombone, too. He is actually using my brother's instrument from High School. Cynthia's son (eandesmom) plays trombone as well!

I played trombone too! It's been many years though since I have played...like highschool and we just had our 25th reunion. :rotfl: It is by far the best instrument! :thumbsup2

Band geek family here too, one of the many reasons Mary Ellen and I get along so well. :goodvibes

I played clarinet, keyboard base and the mallets, marching with both mallets and clarinet but then migrated over to vocal jazz and flag corps, cheerleading. Jeff played the Trumpet, we still have his and Taylor played it, and now Eric does. Eric also plays piano, Taylor's a music technology major and wicked quitar player, Kendall is in choir and yep, Evan's got the trombone.

Our love of Jazz (Jeff, myself, Taylor and Evan have all done or are in Jazz band) is a huge thing in our family and a large part of what brought Jeff and I together! You know your a geeky family when your kids come out of their music lessons high as a kite with how much fun they had. :rotfl:

Double hijack!

Hello!

I just found this trip report today, but I wanted to stop in and say I love it! Now I am going to need to work my way through every one of your Trip Reports!

Hope the State Fair was fun and you were okay for the march.

Glad you didn't wake the kids...especially after they told you not to. ;) I do hope Nick gets better in the next update or two though.

Great photos as you waited in line at EE; and your pictures at the FOTLK rock! My tumble money pictures were all blurry.

Despite the fact that it was in the forties and you had a 3 1/2 hour delay, and that you were freezing your patooties off, you at least get to say you did it!!!

And I can totally understand understand why you DON'T want to do it again!! lol

:cool1: So cool that you play the flute also. Quite honestly, I would prefer a community band to a marching band. I really don't like marching and playing. Probably because I stink at it. :rotfl: That's cool that you all play different instruments. My DH is tone deaf. My oldest son is slightly better. My younger son does play guitar and drums, but he doesn't play much. I wish he would because he could be good. I originally wanted to play clarinet, but I'm so glad I went with flute. Although, I think the oboe is awesome.

A little bit of a hijack here. My youngest son Ben plays trombone, too. He is actually using my brother's instrument from High School. Cynthia's son (eandesmom) plays trombone as well!

That's pretty cool that your son uses your brother's old trombone. I love the trombone. It's a cool instrument and the trombone players in our band always look like they are having a blast.

I played trombone too! It's been many years though since I have played...like highschool and we just had our 25th reunion. :rotfl: It is by far the best instrument! :thumbsup2

Jen - that's so cool you were a band geek, too. I am so glad I don't play the trombone simply because I could never get used to the size. I like playing the smallest instrument in the band. I can put it in my pocket when I use that bathroom. Hey - that can come in helpful at times! :rotfl:

Band geek family here too, one of the many reasons Mary Ellen and I get along so well. :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 You know it sister!

But I have to say, I didn't know that there was such variety of talent in your family. You've got enough diversity for your own band. That's cool.

Now that's cool! I have Nick registered for guitar lessons again this year, but I take his lessons the first three months because he doesn't want the commitment during soccer season. I love going in there and playing with a guy who is awesome, so I know what you mean.

Hello!

I just found this trip report today, but I wanted to stop in and say I love it! Now I am going to need to work my way through every one of your Trip Reports!

:welcome: BrownFam! Thanks for joining in. And welcome to the DIS boards, a great place with lots of fun people (at least over here on the TR forum) and a place with tons of information. Have fun! So glad you are enjoying the TR. :thumbsup2

Hope the State Fair was fun and you were okay for the march.

I did so well I went back again tonight. :rotfl: I'm not perfect, but my wrist and shoulder feel a lot better today. However, I did land on my right knee and that has been hurting when I try to climb the stairs. Always something. ::yes::

Glad you didn't wake the kids...especially after they told you not to. ;) I do hope Nick gets better in the next update or two though.

I'll be getting to Nick soon (and what I refer to as my mommy-noia). Thank goodness I didn't wake the kids, right? :rotfl2:

Great photos as you waited in line at EE; and your pictures at the FOTLK rock! My tumble money pictures were all blurry.

Thanks. So glad you like the pics. Those tumble monkeys gave me a run for my money. They are hard to photograph. You have no idea how many photos I threw in the trash.

I asked because I follow drum corps!!!

Really? cool! the drummers really do make or break the band. I think they are awesome!!!!!!

Despite the fact that it was in the forties and you had a 3 1/2 hour delay, and that you were freezing your patooties off, you at least get to say you did it!!!

And I can totally understand understand why you DON'T want to do it again!! lol

My thoughts exactly. I will always be able to say I marched in an Inaugural parade. But as long as inaugurations are in January in Washington DC, I will be sitting the rest out. :rotfl: Despite the negatives, it really was a great experience. It was awesome to see people showing such extreme patriotism.

Oh Pat - He is quite the handsome tumble monkey indeed! :thumbsup2

::yes::

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: Great story! Thanks for making me LOL! Now I don't feel quite as clumsy! The only thing that makes me not feel like a complete klutz is when a girl who say me fall told me she has tripped in the exact same spot.

Such an embarrassing moment but I did laugh after I landed.. :rotfl:

Also like when I rolled amy ankle TWICE when I first started running. walking in the street where the pavement meets the inverted curb.

Glad the girl who saw you made you feel better about falling.

That's a great idea. Thanks!

It really worked and was not too painful while I was doing it either. :thumbsup2

In June the first show started at 1030. I guess that's a pretty common start time with Nemo starting at 11.

July 4th they went 10 am and then every hour.
10:30 and every hour and a half seems like the normal schedule

I'm going back in October to find your tumble monkey!

I've laughed at myself all week, especially when people have asked me if I was in a fight. :rotfl2: What else can you do?

::yes::Glad the girl who saw you made you feel better about falling.

She did, although the way I fell I'm surprised she didn't ask me if I needed an ambulance. For a few seconds, I thought I might. :rotfl:

Good to know!

That's great that they up the show frequency during the holidays!

The Cookie Toss
Not surprisingly, there has been some speculation on exactly what happened during the cookie toss. I will end the suspense in this update. But first, I must insist on showing you the rest of the FOTLK pics.

One reader posted that this is like Cirque de Soliel light. I have to agree. There are a lot of acrobatic components of this show that scream Cirque. If you like FOTLK, you’ll undoubtedly like Cirque. If you haven’t had the chance to see it, do try to fit it in. It’s 90 minutes of non-stop action. It’s pricey and there are occasional discounts, but it’s so worth it. Loved it. No pictures allowed.

Ok- Sorry – that was a tad off-topic!

FOTLK was a success with my bro’s family. After the show we got lost in the Camp Minnie/Mickey maze and ended up in a character line instead of the exit. Once that was corrected, we started to head in the direction of Pizzafari. My SIL said, “the boys want to eat here”.

Funny, I don’t remember the boys saying that, but OOOOOOOOOOOOO Kaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy.

Not sure about you guys, but Pizzafari (IMHO) is good for two things: AC and cool, bright scenery. As far as the food – I’m generally not a fan of the same type of pizza I can make at home in my own oven. I would have preferred Restaurantsaurus (home of the best veggie sandwich on the planet), Yak and Yeti, or Flame Tree. Believe it or not, the humidity was actually reasonable today and eating outside was a definite option.

Cell phone pic

98290a94.jpg

When we arrived at Pizzafari we grabbed a couple outside tables to regroup. I reminded everyone that I still had 2 FPs for EE that needed to be used fairly quickly. I knew LJ would take advantage of one of the FPs, but I wasn’t sure who would claim the second. Matt wasn’t a huge fan of Space Mountain (he didn’t hate it, but he didn’t love it either), so he was out. My brother is the biggest chicken on earth and the younger boys weren’t candidates. That left me, Denny, and SIL. And since we confiscated Denny’s splash FP last night, that bumped him up in the running.

I thought about it for a second. SIL – hmmmmmm – maybe? Maybe not? She liked Splash. She never verbalized any particular issues with thrill rides like the typical – “I have a bad back, I get headaches, I get dizzy, I get motion sickness, or the ever popular – I am just plain old chicken” Most people who can’t tolerate thrill rides are rather verbal about it. So I took this as a good sign. That was my first mistake.

“Do you want to ride with LJ”, I asked SIL. “It’s a cool coaster with great views of the park, great theming, one drop hill, and, oh yeah, a backwards section in the dark. It doesn’t go upside down”.
She replied, “OK”.

And they were off. I kept every one’s park ticket to get Safari FPs and Denny went to order. I told him, “get me whatever, but NOT pizza”.

We actually ate outside and it was quite pleasant.

I love the chairs here

40ab9264.jpg

Denny and I got two different sandwiches and split them - I think. This is the only food picture I have.

9c67179a.jpg

When I was done eating I walked over to get the FPs. It was a crazy madhouse back there. Here’s the line for the queue.

81702c3f.jpg

Crazy crowded

And here’s where I discovered that we actually did have one card that didn’t work. The CM gave me a “fake FP” card for the day.
