Will we need DCL luggage tags if not using Disney transfers?

This is our first cruise. I thought I saw something about DCL luggage tags somewhere. Will we be getting these if we booked through the DVC and if we are using our own towncar transportation, do we actually need them or can our own do just as fine? thanks.

You'll need to use the DCL ones. That's how they get your luggage to your room.

The luggage tags should come in your trip documents. They punch out and easily wrap around the luggage handles. The night before you disembark from the ship you will find luggage tags in your room. These will designate where you can find you luggage in customs. Hope this helps.

You want to be careful though. Do not use them if you are arriving the day before. They may be taken and held aside until the next morning and you won't have access to them. If you are arriving the morning of, use them and then you will have no need to worry as they will take them directly to the ship from the airport for you, even if using your own transportation.

If you decide to come early and keep them, you will have to have them on by the time you arrive to port and leave them at the tent so they can make it to your room. They will have you fill some out if you don't have them on.

I'm not sure if I understand. We are staying at OKW for four days prior to the cruise. We are getting a towncar service to take us to the port. So should we just put these tags on right before we get to port? Also, as a side, if we left our luggage at OKW, if requested,would the DCL bus take our luggage and is there a fee for this? Would you trust them to take it all if we did this?

I'm not sure they offer that service, but if they did, I wouldn't use it. I prefer to stay as CLOSE to my luggage as possible! I wouldn't want it on a bus that I wasn't on. Recent stories on this forum about lost luggage is scary! (not DCL's fault and DCL did all they could, but what an awful way to begin a cruise)

Jilpie, I donot believe that that service is offered at OKW...

Just put the tags on before u arrive at the port in the Towncar and when they drop u at the Curb your luggage will be taken by Some one like PorterBob (Screenname) and the next u will see it is in your room..

we did get lucky once .. We had private transportation
but ran into a very nice castmember at the airport..
And she said put your luggage over here we will load it on to the TRUCK and bring it to the port So we did .. And away it went
We did not pay for this service Just Said we are going on the Cruise.. she said ok ... Normally they do not take care of your luggage if u do not have Disney transportation...
