Will we get housekeeping? We are Free Dining @ the SSR in September (upgraded free from CBR for inconvenience of construction, whoo hooo)

Yes, since you booked through Disney Reservation Center and not using DVC Member Services. They will do a full clean every day and replenish your consumables.

not that the housekeeping at SSR is all that good..
we just spent 3 weeks at SSR (in two 2 bedroom villas)..

it's a fantastic resort!!! we absolutely adored it...except for the very spotty housekeeping.....but that was our only complaint..

.

We were there in July and had great housekeeping! We got back every afternoon to cleaned rooms and so many toiletries that I won't need any for several trips! I will say that they weren't the friendliest housekeepers we've had-not unfriendly just not as warm as some we've had at other resorts, but couldn't fault their work.

good description - not friendly at all....well...some of them....a few were typical disney friendly as we walked around..
but most were not disney at all....
disney needs to improve their "disney" training of these CMs....really not good examples of that disney difference..

it's not a dealbreaker for me, but it was very noticeable....especially over the course of 3 weeks there!!..

I agree about the "un-disney". They were never rude or surly, just not engaging. No smiles upon seeing you, no quick hellos. They would respond just didn't begin a conversation. We left SSR and went to AKL. All the CMs were more outgoing and friendly. We did have better interactions with CMs in other areas of SSR. Front desk staff were great, most of the CMs in the qs were friendly and the bartender at the quiet pool was very nice.

the CMs at the quick service were fantastic!!
and the CMs at the community hall are amazing!!!
we spent a lot of time there with the grandkids....just wonderful people and fun activities..

Because all of SSR is DVC, housekeeping may 'forget' that you are a cash guest - if they fail to clean and leave fresh towels/shampoo/coffee/etc. on any given day, just call housekeeping and remind them.

cash guests are paying over $700/night for those rooms....for that money they shouldn't 'forget' that i'm not DVC...

and since they're coming in to clean every day, then by definition they know i'm not DVC...

fortunately, the rest of the resort is so great, it made up for the less than stellar housekeeping...

Oh I agree, but my experience @ AKL in a 1 br. villa on a cash reservation (before I bought my own DVC points :) ) was that housekeeping was a bit sporadic & a quick call to housekeeping remedied the issue. I found it odd as I was leaving a fairly sizable tip every day, I thought they'd remember to clean the room for that reason alone, but on about 3 days out of our 11 night stay they never showed and I had to call.

i'm laughing at this...we also left a tip every day......and it didn't seem to influence anything...
and we kept remarking about that...

guess i should have called...but i was worried about getting some poor low income employee fired....so i didn't....oh well...

Hmm. We were there in August for 9 days and had a wonderful housekeeping experience. Zero complaints. We didn't have any interactions because they were always finished by the time we returned for our mid-afternoon break, but their work was spectacular. I was so grateful because we played hard at the parks this trip, and it was so lovely to come back to a spotless, tidied villa each day.

which section were you in?

the problem that we found was how hit or miss it was....very much dependent on who was doing the cleaning...

by the way, has housekeeping at other resorts stopped doing towel animals, or was that just true of this resort?

.

We put the Do Not Disturb sign up and just do our own housekeeping when we stay DVC (through WDW) It's not worth the aggravation, it's something I can do in 15 minutes myself. We find that when they do show up, they come too late. We do call for towels and toiletries which they are always very generous with.

It's amazing though, they are always early on checkout day, banging on the door lol
