Okay, our friends are going to WDW in August. They only want 3 day hoppers. My thought was to have them get 10 day hopper with no expiration and we would buy the extra 7 days from them. It's a great deal for us. Will we be able to use those passes? Are they just the same paper passes they always have been? I haven't been in 16 months so I don't know if things have changed. Are they coded somehow? I know people sell extra days on their passes on ebay and everywhere else, so this seems like it would work. I don't think it is dishonest, just frugal!

You may need to have your fingerprinted verification. I would be careful.

Believe me if that is the worst thing you ever did you would be fine! However they are using fingerprints now so it wouldnt work probably anyway

No one needs to get nasty answering a question like this. (Or ANY question for that matter. )
Until the Magic Your Way passes were introduced, you definately could "share" passes with friends and family.
Now with the new MYW passes, everyone (except children) must have their fingers bioscanned (not fingerprinted - they "take a picture" of the bones in your first 2 fingers) to identify them to their own pass. This makes "sharing" with anyone else an impossibility.

You have to put your name on the pass, and they will check that a name is written the first time it is used. When you put your fingers in the reader the first time, it records length of the fingers as well as certain angles and other data on the pass magnetic strip. All other times it reads the finger length, angles, etc.; if they match what has been encoded on the pass, fine. If they don't match the CM at the gate will ask for identification. If you don't have ID that matches the name on the pass not only will you lose the pass but you may have a nice discussion with a Security Host!

Re-reading your original post two things you should also be aware of. All Disney Tickets are marked that they are Nontransferable. Also there is a Florida law that selling a partially used ticket is illegal.

The best frugal and honest deal , would be to buy your *own* 10 day non expiring pass, and use it for 2 different trips.

It truly is amazing how nasty and judgemental people can get very very quickly. I am posing a question about a Disney World ticket, not condoning a felony!! Let's get a grip!! I was wondering if that was possible and if it was in fact illegal. I got my information, I thank for your help and I'm all good.

Yes, Minnie1156, each person with an adult ticket must put their finger in the scanner. Only children (ages 3-9) do not use the finger scanner. It can definitely slow a line down. This past trip my ds did not have to do it, but my dd 11 did.

I just wanted to let you know that your question made perfect sense to me. I am not a Disney expert, have not bought tickets in five years, and do not presently have access to a ticket to read any fine print as to whether or not it is transferable. As long as you purchase 10 days of fun at an amusement park, why the heck should anyone care who uses it?
P.S. My last statement is just a rhetorical question - please don't post any answers.

Do they bioscan at the water parks, PI, and DQ??? I was wondering about the plus features on each pass, whether a family could use each others pluses. (I know the 4 major parks you can't with the bioscan). I under the non transferable thing, I am just talking about within a family, not selling a used pass.

Excuse me for being dense but need some help. Are the tickets identfiable in any way from each other? In the past we just put our ticket thru the scanner and dumped them back all together in their holder. We never knew who belonged to what ticket (dh, dd,dd,and me - no unrelated people), we always went everywhere together. Now you are telling me I have to keep these tickets straight?

Yes now you must keep them separate, unless you have young children. There is a spot to sign your name, so that will make it easy for you to know which ticket belongs to each person.
Because each person, except for young children has to put their fingers in the scan, your ticket must match up to your scan.
My mother has arthritis in her hands and could not use the scan, each time we went through she just had to show her ID.

You have to do the finger scan when you enter each major park, the water parks and Disney Quest. I'm not sure about DQ.

If your tickets are on your room key, then you might get passes with characters on the front. They also have passes with pictures of the parks.

You're also required to sign the back of the passes. So between the different pictures on the front and the signatures on the back, it's impossible to get the tickets mixed up.

Does not matter whether you are family members or not, attempting to sell admission tickets/passes or giving them away for free. Tickets/park passes (including the plus options, which are still admission passes) are non-transferable. Have been for as long as I can recall. This is not a new policy--they are just getting better at enforcing it.

Yes, with the old style park hoppers many people did seem to get away with breaking the rules/laws--but that didn't make it any less 'wrong'. With the new MYW park passes & biometric scanning you are more likely to get 'caught' if you attempt to use/share someone else's pre-paid admissions.

Touching the bioscan is no different than touching any of the other surfaces in the park. Don't understand the paranoia. Per your chemo patient, I am sure you could explain the situation and do so.

Why are people reamed for being judgemental when they question the breaking of a law?
