Switched today from wing at CR to Poly garden view...what buildings are the best?? Will I be happy with my switch?? I had to pay 130 bucks more...should we dine at CM or Ohana for our first night??? What is everyones op??

Thanks!!!

***this is the 3rd YES 3rd RESORT!!! :rotfl: I have booked!! My TA must think I have some sort of mental issues!! Went from POR to CR to Poly...thats it though...check book can't take no more!!! :rotfl:

i think you will be more than happy. i was in the same situation, although instead of booking CR (which i was set on), i decided to go POLY garden view last minute. it was worth every penny. that place is so magical, and so well themed, you will just love it. plus the pool is 100% better than CR, and although i never stayed in a wing at CR, i couldnt imagine you would get the same feel in a wing than at the POLY. again, its so well themed, much better than CR.

definitely go for ohana the first night, the food is great and the ambiance is magical. highly recommended!

thank you for your prompt response :sunny: what floor did you stay on? what building? what did you love most about it? did you eat at Spirit of Aloha? Do you have kids? Don't know that my kids would like the Ohana menu...did you find the cm's nice? how about the rooms?? Are they quite large enough for 5 of us? 3 small girls...thanks for any info :wizard:

wow lots of questions! you sound very excited which is great! :cool1:
here are you answers
1) i stayed in tuvalu (room 2404) 2nd floor, garden view, had a small partial view of the lagoon. the room was great because it was right next to an outdoor stairway, which brought you not only to a main path toward the main ceremonial house, but also to THE BEACH! my room was about 100 paces from the beach which was cool, and the beach overlooked the GF. i liked tuvalu a lot, it was kinda remote, meaning quiet, but close enough to everything in my opinion. check it out on a map to see what i am talking about.

2) i didnt eat at spirit of aloha this last visit 2 weeks ago. i did eat there in oct 04, and thought it was just ok. the food is not nearly as good as ohana, but there is obviously some good entertainment for the kids (and adults), and i think the beer/wine were free. it is definitely worth doing if you havent done it before, i dont think i would go back again personally though.

3) i dont have kids. i guess you know what the menu is...its a family BBQ, meaning they bring skewers of beef, chicken, pork, and shrimp over, you eat as much as you want of each. you also get an appetizer tray with salad, rice, dipping sauces, wontons, and some other stuff i dont remember. again, the food was some of the best i have had at WDW. the CM's were very nice and helpful. and there was entertainment for kids too - they had contests and singing and stuff.

4) rooms at poly. i was solo on that trip, so the room was big for me! you should be ok with 3 small kids, you get the two queen beds, and then a daybed. the room is about the size of your average hotel room (like a hilton or marriott). the bathroom was farily large for a hotel. but how much are you gonna be in the room anyway??!?!

hope that helps.

SINGLE AT THE POLY??? WOW...you are a nice looking guy :smooth: I have a nice cute blonde friend... :bride:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am anxious about all this because DH is not too excited about dropping thousands on a Disney trip so I am trying to make this perfect so I don't hear a big I TOLD YOU SO...as far as the view as long as I am not looking at a parking lot I really don't care too much. And when people say the walk to the main ceremonial house, I mean really, how far can the fartherest building be?? Are we talking like 5 or 10 min walk or more like 20??? Just wondering..

(just kidding about the single thing...I hope I don't seem like some kind of married pick up artist or something) :earboy2:

i cant understand the anxiety about dropping a lot of money to stay at the polynesian. i dont know how old your children are, but i think they will be happier there, (again there is a lot more disney magic going on there), and as far as your husband, well the bar is really good, and i think its more relaxing than CR...its like being in tahiti! i dont know what kinda view you will end up with, i lucked out, and specifically told them i didnt want to see the parking lot. they obliged to my request.

but when it comes down to it $300 a night to stay in a room you can get for like $75 at a hilton is a lot of money. plus, i know i was hardly in my room--always at the parks and stuff. but you are really paying for the experience, for being surrounded by a land that looks like tahiti or something. its like paradise there, imho.

yes, single at the POLY. :smooth: i'm single again, and took that trip to get away for awhile and get my bearings. so who is this friend of yours? does she like disney? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

You would have had a wonderful time at any of the resorts you picked :p

The poly is beautiful though, you will love it.

thank you cass for your input :flower:

and yes she likes Disney ;) AND is blonde, pretty, and very very nice and sweet...she has two kids. Her problem is she is always finding JERKS who care about themselves and not her, it must be so hard for single people these days. Where are all the nice fellas?? I got the last one I think, although he is 14 yrs older than me so he has had time to mature :rotfl2:
Ahhh sad to see, you are from NY...we are in Iowa. You know what they day about those midwestern girls though!!!! :cool1: LOL
Are you Italian?? You have very Italian features...you look like a cop or a fire figher!!! :)

about the Poly, that is what I am afraid of...paying 300 a night for a room the size of the Holiday Inn!!! We are so used to suites with two or three rooms but NO WAY at Disney...I am not interested in renting points either so we are gonna be bunking really close that week... :teeth:

dont worry, i think the poly is well worth the money for the atmosphere, again how often will you even be in the room? you'll be at the parks and at the pool and walking around the lush gardens of the polynesian. thats what the $300 a night is for. plus the location.

no i am not italian, jewish actually. and no thanks on your friend, i kinda want to stay single for a long time after being let down pretty hard recently. i've discovered that i really dont understand women all that well, and its gonna take quite a long time to heal from this one. plus who knows maybe she will come to her senses...yeah right.

have fun at the poly and if you have any questions let me know!
