Will we be disappointed with ASMu?

Some guidebooks rate ASMu lowest of the 3 AS's. any idea why this is? We are booked there in February and I'm starting to get concerned! I've stayed at Sports and Movies, but dh and kids are big music fans and I thought they'd enjoy the theming. Any experiences or opinions welcome!

I've only stayed at Sports & Movies too, but just from walking through Music... I thought the food court was not as nice, and the wall murals were just poorly-done.

We've stayed at ASMu twice in the past year and we loved it. We loved the theming and we thought the rooms were very clean...there were 2 adults, one child and one baby...we loved the pools (My DD adored the piano pool and also played in the baby pool some) and the food court was great, just a good variety and the food was good. I haven't stayed at the other All Stars, but my hubby has stayed at hotels a lot for work and he thought that All Stars had everything you need at a great price. We were in Calypso, so we were close to the food court and it was very convenient to get snacks, more drinks, etc.

Others my differ, but that was our experience...we are staying Poly concierge and AllStar Music on our next trip in November.

Hi monalsw,

We have stayed at the All Star Sports twice and my theory as to why the Music is the least popular is because of the themeing. Usually people will say that if you are adults only or a family with older (teenagers) childern go with Music. The Sports and Movie themes are very popular with families with young childern.

We stayed at ASmu in 1996 and had a blast. The rooms are very clean. The food court was very adequate for us.
We stayed in Broadway and it was quite a walk to the food court/main building...this was only a problem at check-in...(we elected to take our own luggage rather than waiting for it to be delivered)....don't do this!!
See if you can get a building closer to the food court..this would be my only caveat about staying here again.

You will love it!!!
Enjoy.....................

I've stayed at many of the Disney resorts and have stayed at ASMu twice (I'm actually staying there in MY upcoming February trip with my teenage niece). I've found the rooms, atmosphere and services to be quite fine (although I must admit, most of my time is spent in the parks). The pools were wonderful though, should you choose to spend time at "home base". ENJOY the planning AND the visit!

I have never been there but... how disappointed can you be - your in DISNEY!!!!

:p

I stayed there this summer with my sister. We were in the Calypso building. I would definitely stay there again. I have also stayed at WL, VWL, Poly, CSR, and OKW. The only drawback I felt was that I did not get any hand lotion at ASMu. We were very pleased with the food court and the transportation.

We have stayed at the All Stars many times (Music 6x, Sports 4x, and Movies 1x). I think that Music is least rated because there is less to do with the theming. Sports has lots of team names and the Movies has really cool characters. I think that the Music is just as nice, and, we tend to stay there more often.

We will be at ASMU in less than two weeks! :bounce: :bounce:
I'll let you know when we return! ;)
We stayed at ASMo just last January, so I will compare the two. ;)
I did pay the extra for the preferred *view* , since we will only be at ASMu three nights.
Just by looking at the three resort maps, I think ASMu is laid out the worse. It's like a long hallway. If your room was in the back, I wouldn't think the stay would be as enjoyable, because of the (lack of) convience factor. But it would be quieter, I'm sure. ;)

I've stayed at all three AS and Music is my favorite! The decoration is a little more understated, at least for an all star resort, than sports or movies.

Hi monalsw-

We just returned yesterday from our Florida vacation. Stayed at the ASMu for 4 nights. I was not terribly impressed with the rooms. I must say that my expectations were based on "DISNEY" as a whole. The theme parks are fantastic!! The rooms at the ASMu, in my opinion, are very "motel-like". They have WONDERFULLY comfortable mattresses (I know, a strange thing to notice). There is a small "bistro-like" table with two chairs, a set of drawers and that is about it for counter space. The theming was not all that impressive to me. I thought that the bedspreads looked a little worn and the fact that they have ECONOMY soap/shampoo dispensers in the shower just SCREAMED to me "MOTEL 6", not DISNEY! There are, I believe, 10 buildings each with 3 floors. The rooms are small (however, clean!). We had 4 adults and two small children in our party. I did the room request, etc... and the only item they honored was the request for connecting rooms - not even worth the time to type a request. We only paid $59 a night & I would NOT pay a dime more than that to stay there. In fact, I do not think that we will stay there again in the future. We will probably try somewhere closer to the MK. We tried to do the return at lunch for rest/nap thing and we were far enough away from the theme parks that it meant we were wasting approx. 1/2 hr each way just going to & from parks (not included the kids naptime). Being that it is low season, the parks close earlier & the timing DID have an impact on how much we got to see & do! We LOVE Disney and will be back again sometime. I am just giving you another opinion to consider!

I stayed at the ASMu in December and would not hesitate to stay there again. The room was a bit small, but that is exactly what I would expect for any economy hotel. It was very clean and had the most comfortable beds. The food court was also very convenient. I thought the theming was great. Not so gaudy and cartoonish. I hope you will enjoy your stay there as well.:p
