We plan to be there for EMH, and we have PS for lunch at Rainforest cafe at 11:45. The cast is me, DH, DS (9), sister, my two nieces (8 and 5) and my Mom (72--in excellent shape). I know the kids will want to play in the boneyard--my son has loved dinosaurs since he was 2!!!

Do you think we will be able to do the safari, ride primeval whirl and Kali river rapids and still have time to see ITTBAB, Lion King, Tarzan and Pocahontas? If not, I know we want to see ITTBAB and Lion King----between Tarzan and Pocahontas, which do you think would be the best for our cast? Knowing the kids, my son will choose Tarzan and my nieces will probably want to see Pocahontas~~I'm just hoping that we will have time to do them all.

Definitely skip Pocahontas - my kids hated it at age 3 - I can't imagine your kids liking it. Honestly, I do feel it's pretty lame, a few furry critters come out and walk around on stage. You're not missing anything. ITTBAB is awesome, as well as Lion King. I've never seen Tarzan myself as I've never been able to squeeze it in either. We're going to try to give it a shot in May though.

The kids will like the Boneyard. That's actually our "timing downfall." I can't ever get my kids out of there.

I have only ever seen Lion King and Tarzan.

Tarzan was kind of loud but kids might really like it , as the stunts they do are neat. Lion King is AWESOME.

Flights of Wonder I really wanted to see but missed :( I love birds. If you like birds , you'll probably like it. If you don't like birds, you might want to skip.

Pocahontas I wanted to see too. I have a real soft spot for furry critters and when I see them I just feel all giddy and happy. Some people aren't as into animals as I am.

It's tough to be a Bug is great. But it runs constantly all day and you shouldn't have a problem catching it. :)

I would say time-wise it will be tight, especially if your son wants to stop at the Boneyard. (I'm assuming you want to do all these things before lunch and do not plan to stay in AK after). The shows would probably be the problem because some of them run at about the same times. Last time we were there we had only the morning at AK as well. We wanted to see both Tarzan and Lion King but the shows were within 10 minutes of each other on opposite ends of the park. Our kids were much younger than yours, DD5 and DS2, so we knew we'd never make it to both so we just did Lion King. My philosophy is always prioritize what you definitely want to do and then have secondary things if you end up with more time. Have fun! :D

I tried to fit all the shows in on one day and it didn't happen. Lion King is excellent. My DD10 loved Pocahontas and didn't like Tarzan Rocks at all. I didn't like Tarzan Rocks because I like Phil Collins and the guy who sings in Tarzan Rocks doesn't come close to Phil. I found a site last year that posted the actual times of the shows which helped me to figure out if it could be done and it wouldn't work. For sure, don't miss Lion King. One thing that we did do was sit at the beginning of the parade and after it went by we were able to get down to see Pocahontas. As someone else posted, it's a long walk between those shows except, I think Pocahontas and Lion King are relatively close. I can't remember for sure though.

We liked Flights of Wonder more than Tarzan Rocks. I think there may be multiple casts, but the Tarzan music was not very good the day we went. It also is extremely loud and only somewhat related to the Tarzan movie.

From your post I couldn't tell if you planned on doing all those shows before your lunch PS, or if you are spending all day at AK, just taking a lunch break at Rainforest.

You will not be able to do all that in the morning. Given a full day minus an hour and a half for lunch it should be doable. You will have to do some planning. There are 3 to 5 daily occurance of each of the shows. Some occurances may conflict with each other, and others may conflict with your lunch. Plan the rides around the show times.

One late afternoon Lion King show let out 10 minutes before Pocahontas (which is right next door) began, that was good timing. I agree with one of the above posters - the Pocahontas was cute, but definitely geared toward kids younger than yours - preschool age 2 -5, would love it.

We have never been able to fit it all in one day but we try not to do comando style or stress over what we do. I rate Lion King as not to be missed. It is awsome. Flights of Wonder is often over looked but a very good show. Tarzen is just loud. We have never made it to Pocahontas. ITTBAB is easy as it is continualy running. We love this one too. AK is the park we like to take slow and just enjoy our time there.

I agree with the others that Pocohontas is geared toward much younger children. My kids 12 & 9 love Tarzan. Lion King is not to be missed!

Animal Kingdom is not a big park. It depends on the crowds, but it IS possible to do it all by mid-afternoon. Not by 11:00AM probably, but by 2. Just get a schedule and plan accordingly. If the only things you are planning to take in are the things you mentioned, you can probably get it all in by your lunch time IF the show schedules work out.

But I want to make sure you are aware you can go back into AK after you eat at RC....just get your hand stamped before you leave AK.

We could only fit in 2 shows and I wish we would not have bothered with Tarzan Rocks. My DS8 and I saw a clip of Tarzan on the Travel Channel and thought it looked great. We did not like it at all. My son said, "Too much singing!" We thought Festival of the Lion King was Awesome! Wish we could have seen the bird show, but we couldn't fit everything in. We got there at the opening of the park, did the safari then Kali (3 times no lines!) then dinosaur, Tarzan Rocks, Primeval Whirl, Bugs 3D, Rainforest Cafe lunch, boneyard, parade and then FoLK. Wish the park was open a bit later because we didn't get to do the trails or railroad but it was great to observe all the details of the park. We had great fun standing on the bridge over Kali spritzing people with the elephant squirters that were riding Kali below.

p.s. my son hated Dinosaur although he rode all the biggest rollercoasters including Rock & Roll at MGM. I didn't like the ride either although we were both looking forward to it so much!

Does anyone like Tarzan Rocks? We've never done it as time has not allowed, and I wanted to try to squeeze it in this May since Dinosaur will be closed, and we thought we may could do it this time. But if it's not worth it, I'd rather not waste our time. Our kids are 6 and 3. My DD6 likes the Tarzan movie, but if it doesn't even follow the storyline . . . . what do you think?

I did forget to mention that I do plan on staying at the park until closing! In May that will be 5:00. I think for now, the two shows we definitely will plan on is ITTBAB and Lion King!!! Thanks so much!

A friend of mine went last June the week before we did and she told me not to miss it and went on and on about it. So, some do like it.

My family LOVES Tarzan Rocks! The last time we saw it, our children were 4 (boy) and 7 (girl). It only loosely follows the Tarzan movie story, but the music, extreme skateboarders/skaters and aerial gymnasts (Tarzan and Jane) were amazing. Personally I can't imagine anyone really disliking this show, and we found it enjoyable enough to see two years in a row.

I may get flamed for this suggestion, but maybe you could skip your lunch at Rainforest if you are concerned about seeing the shows? We had lunch there during our first visit to AK and felt it was a complete waste of time. Sure, the theming is great, but the service was painfully slow and the food is on the high end of moderate ($$ wise) for lunch (JMO of course). And there are other Rainforest Cafes around the country. Maybe it is something you could save until another day. Don't forget, there is a RC at DTD also.

I will agree with the other posters who said that FOTLK is a CAN"T MISS!!!! I cannot emphasize that enough. I would go to AK for that alone!!

Anyhow, just a suggestion....................P

I never see the Rainforest as a must because there are other locations all over... we have one here, and theres one at DTD. Not a big draw for me.

I loved Tarzan, but I just enjoyed watching *him* He was ripped and mostly naked. Shallow, I know.

We did all we wanted to do at AK in about 4 hours, I wasnt impressed. But we were all adults and arent into animals. Plus, I had a stomach bug and kept barfing through the park. I hear Lion King is awesome, but I fell asleep 10 min in on my Dh's shoulder, all that puking wore me out. Must admit that Disney toilets are nice and clean, though! I saw them all! LOL=)

Yes, you will be able to fit all that into an AK day

Enjoy AK, it is our favourite park by Day (Epcot by Night)

thanks

I also love Tarzan... :) Lion King was good but not as grand as Tarzan..

(Tarzan is on my list twice and Lion King didnt make it for my May trip...)

Festival of the Lion King is our favorite show. Make sure you don't miss it. I also have to agree with the poster who mentioned that Flights of Wonder is often overlooked. We skipped it during our first two visits, but saw it during our last trip. Wow. It was much better than I imagined it would be. I had no idea a show about birds could be so much fun! There were lots of kids in the audience who enjoyed it and there are several opportunities for "audience participation". :) I would rate Flights of Wonder above Pocahontas and Tarzan Rocks, but we enjoy all the shows.
