We have ressie's there and thus far I have heard mixed reviews of the food. We are two adults, no kids, and I am not sure whether the antics will be too much for him?

Any opinions or what should I switch it to, this will be our first night in Disney.

about your husband so how can we give you an opinion?:confused3 My DH is mostly a stick-in-the-mud but he does loosen up on vacations. WCC was one of his favorites! We did have our older teens with us but I think he had more fun with the Waiter (Deputy Doug) than they did!!

I agree that its hard for us to advise you, but if there is some doubt in your mind you probably should consider going elsewhere. There are so many places to eat at WDW there's not reason to go someplace where you might not have a good time. Check out the menu's right here on the DIS at

LOL, ok since you put it that way... he is a stick in the mud and rather shy so I am not sure how he would feel about a bunch of kids bringing him ketchup. The food on the menu looks really good though including the desserts -- but that wouldnt be worth it if he didnt enjoy it -- and that is our first meal of the trip too.

It's good fun & good food . I think he will be fine. Hey I say if my parents love it anybody would. lol And they r sticks in the mud. lol

DH and I both hated this place. We did not enjoy the food at all and the antics were just too much for us. Perhaps if we had been in a large group we would have enjoyed it but for a meal for two adults, we would never return.

With the exception of the skillet, there's nothing on the WCC menu that you can't find at all sorts of TS places. The food is fine, but not particularly special.

Honestly, the only thing that sets WCC apart, and the only reason to go (IMO), is the antics. If you're not going to participate, there's just no point.

It's extraordinarily loud and raucous - servers banging trays, banging the dinner bell, shouting, stick pony races, singing, napkin-waving. If that sounds like something you and your husband would enjoy, then go for it - many people consider WCC a favorite.

If you'd prefer a quieter meal, and not have to worry about the wait staff picking on your husband and making him uncomfortable, there are far better places to dine close to WL. I'd highly recommend Kona Cafe at the Poly, or GF Cafe at GF. If you're interested in the kind of home-cookin' food that WCC serves, try Trails End over at FW. It's a great, reasonably priced buffet, and the short boat trip from WL is a pleasant, relaxing way to start your vacation.

I've gone just 2 adults also and honestly...I think the waiters can tell how far to go based on your personality. If your hubby seems shy and doesn't play into it ...I think they will lay off a bit. Also I think lunch is a little less raucous than other meals.

My DH is shy and if you tell your server you would prefer to to engage in the antics they will not trouble you. Our family loves the food there and if your and your hubby liked the menu and prefer to watch rather than partake this is definitely the place for you.

In no way do the servers force you to do anything that might make you feel uncomfortable.

I think it is a cute way to start a great trip at wdw

We've been there quite a few times and it really is a 50/50 thing if the servers will even do any antics with your particular table. If your very reserved/shy maybe it wouldn't be your cup of tea. We are not the dance on the table top kind of people, but we still enjoy it there. I think its very tame in comparison to say, 50's Primetime.

:confused3 Please keep these coming my DH is not an attention getter and I have us and my Parents booked there for Dinner before MVMCP. I wanted to go to look around the resort, too. We are staying at Pop. This will be our first time there and we are used to the antics at Prime Time so I can prep him for that. Thanks!:wizard:

Even if they leave you alone, you still can see and hear all the other "antics" at the other tables. My advice is to walk a few steps past WCC to a really good restaurant--Artist Point.

DH and I went to WCC on our honeymoon and DH is also a stick in the mud. However, the food here was pretty enjoyable, nothing special, but definitely not horrible. We didn't have the skillet but I think we split many apps (really good wings!) and a dessert as well as the huge beer that DH got. I was way into the antics, and DH taped a lot of it. I think he got a kick out of me making a fool out of myself.

On the other hand, DH HATED 50's Prime Time Cafe. It was just way too much for him and he refuses to go back, so definitely avoid that one. (Although the food is excellent!)

Finally, there was a couple sitting at the table next to us who were completely unimpressed. They lived in Orlando and had never been to Disney. :scared1: They said that they would never come back based on their experience at WCC. So, to each their own, but we'll certainly go back. :wizard:

BTW, I think if you live in Orlando and haven't been to WDW, there is something wrong with you to begin with ;)

My family did not like WCC. I really wanted to try it and was prepared to have a great time. My DD and DSIL were on the fence and my DGD is always ready for fun. I ended up with a raging headache and my DD and DSIL hated it. The food was mediocre IMO, I ordered the skillet and found the meat overcooked and dry. I cannot remember what my DD and DSIL ordered.

I don't know if I was expecting too much from the restaurant but all of the antics going on around us got old, it is really loud and there is a feeling of constant chaos in the air.

If I was not sure my DH would enjoy this I would go to the Kona and know that I was getting a great meal without any of the fuss.

There is a "quiet" seating area at the WCC ... it is off to the back and side. There are 4 - 6 tables, it's pretty small and has a big fireplace. It is a great place to request if you want to be able to see the action but not be a part of it, and it is MUCH quieter! Hubby and I were put there our first visit, it was just the 2 of us, and we didn't request it. I like to think of it as kind of like the "adult" table at Thanksgiving and the main part of the restaurant is the "kids" table.

A good compromise, in my opinion, if you really want to try the restaurant, food and resort but area a bit worried about how someone in your party will feel about all the antics.

When we've been there we've had lots of ketchup brought to our table, they've brought us HUGE jars of soda when we asked for refills, they've stuck straws in my grandaugher's hair to make her look like the Statue of Liberty, we've had straws thrown at us, our waitress made our whole section stand up and do the Hokey Pokey, we've seen people with birthdays have to run around the restaurant on a stick pony singing Happy Birthday to themselves, we've had my son called "Coke Boy" and ordered to drink all of his huge soda when the waitress brought him a refill, that same visit after we did the Hokey Pokey, our waitress leaned over and asked my grandaughter if her dad was married. When she told him no, she had my son and GD carry all of our ketchup bottles over to two young ladies tables who had refused to get up for the Hokey Pokey. Just as they got to the table the waitress, screamed out, "He's single girls, grab him". I don't know who was more embarrassed my son or the young ladies. We've seen all the men have to stand up and sing, 'I'm a Little Teapot', we've seen three couples picked at random and brought up to the front of the restaurant for a "Kissing Contest", and when I was eating lunch there solo this past May, the waiter felt sorry for me and brought me out a little wooden man in a chef's hat to be my dining partner. The place is alot of fun, but can get a little embarrassing and over the top if you are not into that sort of thing.

My trip with my son and GD, I had not told them anything about Whispering Canyon so they had no idea about the antics. You should have seen his face, when right after we walked in, the waitress on her knees playing with a group of little girls suddenly looked at him and yelled, "I'll get to ya' when I get around to it", then threw our straws across the table, and asked "What do you want sonny?". When he looked sortof blank and said, "a menu?", she called out, "What do you think I am, a waitress?" His look as he haltingly said 'yes', was priceless. I was shocked that my normally quiet and very reserved son got up to do the Hokey Pokey, but when I mentioned it to him, he laughed and said he was too scared not to. There was no telling what 'that crazy waitress' would do if he didn't. He round up loving it and insisted that I take his younger brother and sister-in-law there a few months later, when I took them to WDW.

My DH is a great guy with a fantastic sense of humor. BUT, don't get between him and his food! :rotfl:

For his bday, we went to Joe's Crab Shack with our grown kids and some friends. When they came to the table to try to get him to do the duck dance, he just looked at them and said, "I'm eating." They cajoled a little more and he just repeated, "No, I'm serious. I'm eating." They just laughed it off and we all made jokes about him being a grumpy old man.

Another time, we went to a dinner theatre and they pulled him out of the crowd to play a part in the skit and he was hilarious! Difference was he wasn't eating at the time! :lmao:

So, I probably won't drag him to WCC. He says he prefers places like Biergarten where he is entertained, but not expected to be part of the entertainment.
