Will War = Good Deals At Disney?

This is excatly what I was thinking too. I just want to live a normal happy life too. This war isn't going to stop us from going either. Everyone is saying "I can't believe your going, I wouldn't go any where near there." Here's my point. If it's my time to go it's my time to go. No one is keeping me from enjoying myself on my vacation. I hope there is good deals so we can stay an extra night. I hope everyone has a wonderful Disney vacation, I know I will.

I too was wondering about some good discounts due to the war. I would encourage everyone to keep their plans, but if Disney finds attendence down and starts giving some good discounts, I'll gladly use them! Of course, discounts or not, we are still going!

We had reservations at ASMO for April because SOG rooms at the
Contemporary and even the overflow rooms were booked.
Much to my surprise, SOG called a few days ago to inform me that there had been cancellations at the Contemporary. We were able
to get ten nights in the North Garden Wing.
As a military wife whose DH has been deployed since early January, we are dissapointed that he will not be with us. For
the sake of our son, we decided to move forward with vacation plans and the two of us will carry on.
We promised each other that we would return to Disney to celebrate DH's homecoming!
Asking about discounts because there is a war on in no way minimizes the seriousness of the situation. There is no way on earth that this military family would let Saddam control our lives.

Three Cheers For Our Wonderful & Brave Troops!!!!!!

Go Capegirl!

Glad you are contiuing on with life (and vacations) even though DH is deployed. My DH is not scheduled to depl;oy over our planned vacation (Aug), BUT as you well know, things could change. I do not look forward to the possibility of going to WDW by myself with DDs (4 1/2 and 22 months by trip time), but I will do it. They need magic in their life, and I can give that to them!

I am hoping that when this war is over, WDW will offer our brave men and women in the armed services a special rate to visit WDW!

I have no relatives nor know no-one currently in the military. I just thought it was a class act that WDW offered it after 9/11!

VIVA LA AMERICA and VIVA LA DISNEY!

Hi there Laurajean

I totally agree with your post but might suggest one small change. In the climate of Freedom Fries etc. ,it might be a bit better to give a good old American Hooray instead of a Viva!!

Couldn't help commenting as it gave me a smile.

Cape Girl - Best wishes to you and your family, thank you for your sacrifices, and have a great time on vacation. You're doing the right thing by not disappointing your little boy, he is probably having a hard enough time understanding things as it is, without having to give up vacation with Mickey too!

I think this board is non partisan :D
We have people from France on this board, so the viva! might still be appropriate.

We cancelled our trip after 9-11 (were due to leave 9-20). It's so sobering to think the innocence I had as I child will not be felt by my daughter. I pray for all of our people fighting a war to keep our nation from coming under another attack. With all of the news and media now about the war, I think we all need to try and think happier thoughts now and then...Disney is our happy thought! Praying for Peace.

and no special rates for WDW resorts! We stayed off-site at the Grosvenor (Tower Room for $39/night through DU). Gave us an opportunity to go to Universal with a Clarion rate of $29/night! Was afraid the rooms would be scary at such a rate, but they were clean and the staff friendly. I never understood why Disney chose not to discount after 9/11.
