I know I should have know....

I have a BCV ressie and I want to switch to VWL. Tommorrow is 7 month from check out. I called today just to check, MS said I will have to waitlist. I need a 2 bedroom and a studio. I am taking my extended family and it is a very special first trip for my 79 year old grandmother.

Yes. I know. It is a holiday. VWL doesn't have as many units as other locations. But did you ever just want it to be simple so much that you believed that it would be?

I keep telling myself that I LOVE BCV my home resort and we will be very happy there. I just have been imagining this trip at WL since I talked my mom into leaving her kitchen for thanksgiving.

So now I have to practice patience....Yikes!!! If anyone has any happy waitlist stories to tell I'd love to here them. It will help pass the time.

***Well, I'm halfway there! The waitlist came though on the studio. It was a big boost to keep my faith going. Here is a question now. I am still waitlisted for a two bedroom, until now I have had so that the whole stay needs to be available to make the switch. Now that I have one room, I am thinking of requesting a night by night waitlist, take each night as it becomes available. I know it is a gamble - getting stuck w/o one night in the middle. But, would it greatly improve my chances of eventually getting the whole time?
Thanks for all advice, prayers and pixie dust!

Tammy,
We brought my 80 year old folks for their first trip a few years ago. I know what you mean about wanting everything to be magical. We hoped for a boardwalk view for them (this was when you only had the option of "preferred" view, no guaranteed BW view). I think a higher power just wanted it to be, and it was. So I am saying a little prayer that your special wish comes true also. Pixie dust is raining right now!

Thanks,

I feel like I'm all about "Wishes" and "I believe, I believe" right now. I so want to give my Gram a magical experience, this will be like nothing she has done before. And to be able to have her family around her in DW...her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren.

Well there is my "What DVC means to me..."

Thanks for the prayers and pixie dust!

Tammy

Lots of things happen in 7 months - I am sure you will get it. Good luck.

My dad was so overwhelmed that I don't know if he even was able to absorb it all. My mom was absolutely enthralled. The CM at the desk when we checked in was wonderful, even letting us check out a couple of different rooms and take our pick. I have memories that can never be taken away, a chance to tell mom and dad that I love them for all that they have done for me. I am one of the "true believers" who thinks that good things happen when they are supposed to happen. Please post back when your waitlist comes through. In the meantime, make plans for that VERY special Thanksgiving dinner with all the generations!
P.S. Thanks for asking!

jekjones1558...you are SOOOO sweet!!!!

One thing to think about is whether they will wait list the two units. I doubt they will and link them. That means you may get one and not the other, do you want that to happen? I'd think if you're looking at two units, you may be better off just keeping what you have if you have to waitlist. Do call because it's been known to happen where one person told you no availability and another found it.

tammydel,

That's funny, I wanted to switch (from SSR) to BCV for a studio and 2 BR for Nov 21 - 26! No availablity for 2BR (no availability at BWV either), I didn't waitlist, as I decided I was happy at SSR anyways.

Well,
I called today and got on the waitlist. The CM was very kind and encouraging. Said that my chances were pretty good getting on right at the 7 month mark.

After a bit of consideration I am waitlisting each room seperatly but for the whole stay not night by night. It's a leap of faith, but faith I have!

I'll keep you posted!

**wvalx - maybe some day we can swap, I'd love to try out SSR with my husband, it seems GREAT for a little grown-up getaway. Spa, downtown disney....I'd trade a weekend of Storm along Bay and walking into EPCOT!!!

Here's some pixie dust for you:wizard: I reserved a 2bdrm and studio at VWL (my home resort) 11 months out for our August 04 trip with my parents and DB & SIL. My mom REALLY wanted to stay at BCV. We stayed there for a short girls' trip and she fell in love. DF, DB, & SIL have never stayed on site, SIL has never been at all:eek: So I called at 7 mo out to get the BCV and had to go on the wait list. I chose to wait list the entire reservation (both rooms) and it came through about 2 months later, St. Patrick's day to be exact. (our last name's Doherty, maybe that had something to do with the magic;) ) There is hope, be patient!!! Good luck and happy planning!

Waitlist came through!

I'm sooo happy and excited. I've been waiting for awhile now with a studio 11/23 -27 at VWL and a 2 bed. 11/23 only at VWL then 11/24 - 27 at BCV. I really wanted the whole thing at VWL.

Well Friday I got the magical call! Waitlist magic does happen.:wizard:

Now my whole family will be able to be in one place and it will make room arrangements more pleasant for all. I was going to have to put my mom, stepdad and 79 yr old gram in a studio so they wouldn't have to move rooms. Now they can stay in the 2 bed. with us and have more space.

How many more days - I need a counter! I am so very excited about this trip.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Thanks for listening. I'm off to stop strangers on the street now to tell them how excited I am!!!!

LOL, Tammy. We can feel your happiness and are glad it worked out for you. Congratulations on your patience! I don't think I could have stood it for so long.

Best wishes -

It is so wonderful to hear about the waitlist working! You were very patient and it paid off. Enjoy your trip!!

Thanks for the kind words and good wishes.

This really is a "What DVC means to us" trip. Taking my family including my grandmother who has never been to Disney AND to be able to provide them all with rooms, AND such wonderful rooms at such a wonderful place...well those of you who have taken family must know what I mean. The great feeling it gives you to be ABLE to do it.

Thanks DVC.

Love from the DelGiudice Family!!!
