My initial plan

I have 2 rooms booked for my dh, me and 4 kids at the POP. Free dining yeah.

at these great rates and free food I though I would see if Grammom and GramPop would like to come along. I initially figured I would book them another POP room and tickets and the free dining.

The dilemna both are old (almost 80) while healthy they do need a comfortable place to rest and sit during the afternoon. The POP rooms only offer the bed and the straight back kitchen style chair. Not a comfortable scenario for 2 seniors to read the paper and snooze a bit. What I need is a deluxe with a couch or upholstered chairs but no way can I or they pay Disney Deluxe prices. So my idea......

What if I just added them to my room to get their tickets and free dining. I can have 8 in 2 rooms and only have 6 now with my immediate family. I will buy them the same park hoppers as we are getting of course so they can accompany us as they wish for fun and meals. They will be eligible for free dining. But since we don't want to squish them into our 2 rooms to sleep and they need a nicer room with comfy chairs and maybe a balcony with a bit of a view I thougt for about $80 I could get them into a nice room at a deluxe level hotel say in DTD or nearby. They will have a car and just meet up with us at POP or meet up at the park. So they will be eating all their meals with us free and enjoying the parks just not officially sleeping in our rooms.

Does that sound like a plan that would work. Am I missing some ethical twist or a logistical problem. I don't think so ....since I am allowed to have 8 in my 2 rooms and will be purchasing there tickets in the package for them with the free dining. If I choose to spend another $80 to let them have another plusher room offsite I would assume that is my business.

Looking on feedback for the above plan. Thanks.

I read about a similar scenario posted from last year during the free dining. The younger part of the family was staying at Pop but the grandparents wanted Contemporary with an AP rate. They already had 2 rooms booked because of teenagers in second room. They ended up all checking in to Pop together and then the second day the grandparents moved to Cont at AP but still had all of the free dining credits from Pop.

Here's my breakdown for you:

1 - You're not going over the room occupancy.

2 - You still need to buy their park tickets as part of your package.

3 - They will still be using their dining credits (it's not like you are adding fake kids to take advantage).

Go for - there is nothing wrong with you are proposing - I mean what if they were coming along and staying in your rooms? There would be no dilema so it shouldn't matter if they stay in your room/rent a room at a different hotel/sleep in their car because too much family togetherness drives them up the wall.

One hint - make sure to list the adults 2 in each room (and then 2 kids in each room) so you don't have to pay any additional adult fees (for more than two adults in a room).

Have a magical trip!

The only problem you might have is that with 4 adults, you may be less likely to get connecting rooms. With only 2 adults, they practically (not absolutely) guarantee connecting rooms. However, I don't think that this is cheating Disney at all.

You're not doing anything dishonest or abusing anything. I think it sounds like a great idea. They're paying guests at POP, there's nothing that says that they have to stay there. Go for it.

Why do you think it may be an abuse?

I have been known to pay for hotel rooms I didn't use and I didn't consider that abuse so why would this be. You aren't getting anything for free! LOL!
