Will this Sept. be more croweded than normal?

I have travelled to the World many times during the second week of September (the last being Sept 2003). It is my favorite time to go because the crowds are so low. I usually don't need to make any dining reservations because the crowds are so low, but I usually will for the one or two restaurants I absolutely want to go to, just in case. Today I tried making a reservation for Le Cellier on Sunday Sept. 11 and the earliest seating they had was 8:50. I want to watch Illuminations after dinner so I tried Thursday Sept. 15. They were completely sold out that night. I was shocked. I can deal with not eating there but I am more concerned about the crowds. This is my boyfriend's first trip to WDW and I really want him to have a fabulous time. For those of you who are planning a Sept trip, what have you found? Is this just a Le Cellier thing, a flaw with the new ADR system, or do you think it will actually be crowded?

Hi Karen,

I'm not sure the parks will be significantly more crowded than usual, but I think because of the free dining plan the sit-down restaurants will be busier than usual.

I'm really hoping not but i'm not looking for more reservations or anything like that. We will be calling our resort to try to upgrade for free from a 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroom but can't call till 45 days before so waiting for the 21st to come around!

I just made some sit down dinnig reservations this morning. I keep getting stuck with reservations for 5:30pm!!

If you have any special dinning request I would make them now!!

I made reservations this morning for coral reef, Sci Fi, and Cinderellas Royal table...

I have never been in September so I don't no what it is usually like but the crowds when we were there the 2nd week of June were bigger then usual. That was all you heard from everybody as you were standing in line.

Of course September hours are shorter as well so this may be why no dining available. Also on another thread they were saying something about later dining times become available at the 30 day mark. Not sure about this. But just wanted to pass this on

I have this feeling that Sep. is going to be busy. I went to add on a couple more days in another resort and they are all booked. Also on another thread someone had called Disney and yes they told them that they will be busier than past years in September.

I hope it's not too busy.

The free dining plan will probably make the sit-down restaurants a little busier than usual, but overall park crowds will probably be normal or even lighter.

Remembr last September, when FOUR hurricanes blasted through central Florida in the month of September? Well, a lot of otehr people do, too, and for many in this country, particularly those who live outside Hurricane Alley, Septermber at WDW now equals the month of Death Storms.

So don't worry about the crowds. They won't be there.

Also, Southwest and other carriers are having a big Florida sale. We live about 1.5 hours from Nashville, and with the sale, we can fly for $95 roundtrip (each)! That's enough to make me plan a quick trip.

If you look on the Disneyworld website...you can still book a choice of Sept. dates at all of the resorts, all room types. I even played with the value (we can't use, 5 people) and they still showed room available. So....I guess I am not too worried.

Just out of curiosity where is Hurricane Alley? I live in East Texas which is considered part of Tornado Alley. As an East Texan who is afraid of hurricanes, you're right I wouldn't be going to Florida in September if my D-I-L hadn't insisted that's when she wanted to go. I wanted to take them in May, but she wanted to wait until the Fall. We almost decided to drive instead of fly, just so we could get out quickly if we needed to.

I agree with Will, feeling that Sept crowds will be lighter than normal, due to people's fears of hurricanes. There's already been a post on here about the only reason Disney is offering the free dining was because ressies were down for Sept and they were tying to draw people down there. The TS restaraunts will probably be busier than usual, but not the parks. I hope for our sakes, and especially for the sake of all Floridians that the experts are wrong and the hurricanes will spare Florida this year.

I was down there in May this year and everyone was predicting huge crowds due to the 50th Celebration and free DME. I think we were all pleasantly surprised at the low crowds during that time. Hopefully Sept will be the same way.

Hours are the same as last year with only 2 Spectros planned per week. I think the dining will be a little more crowded, but I'm assuming that hours would be extended if larger crowds are expected.

Well, usually when somebody mentions Hurricane Alley they're talking about the Gulf Coast, from the Florida Panhandle into Texas.

But since hurricanes can hit just about anywhere along the Atlantic coast, too, I guess Hurricane Alley should also include all of Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas, too.

Personally, I'd be much more afraid to live in Tornado Alley than in Hurricane Alley. Tornadoes appear out of nowhere with no warning, and they move so fast there is no chance to get out of the way. Hurricanes, on the other hand, are gi-normous, slow-moving behemoths that take days to get where they're going, giving you ample chance to run for the hills if you have to.

this is to my post of hotels being booked and numbers are up at Disney for September. It will be busier. What is posted below is part of my newsletter from mousesavers. And everyone knows that their info is pretty accurate.

Most of the Disney hotels seem to be pretty well booked for that
period due to a "free dining" promotion that has now expired. However, many
non-Disney hotels near Walt Disney World are offering fabulous deals
for August and September. There are great offers from Nickelodeon Family
Suites by Holiday Inn and Embassy Suites Resort Lake Buena Vista in
this month's newsletter.


Hmmmmmm....I can see it now. It's going to be very busy.

With regard to OP's post about Le Cellier. A lot of the problem may be that you are trying to book a table for 2 (I am assuming that by your mention of BF). I had the same problem. They did not offer any good times for that week, so I ended up booking lunch instead. Oh, and my ADR was made on day 90.

Actually, I don't believe the hotels will be booked because the free dining only was available on a limited number of rooms and expired early this month. It's not that every room in every hotel will have free dining, if that were the case, than I would agree that the parks would be crowded. I do believe that the more popular TS and 2 TS places will be booked!
