Will this help with our room request?

We're chcecking in at VWL the Saturday after Thanksgiving which I know is a busy day. We have a 2BR and a studio reserved, and I made a request that the rooms be close together. We are arriving early in the morning to check into the 2 BR. The studio is currently reserved in my parents' name and they will not be arriving until late afternoon.

If I add my name to the studio reservation and check into both rooms in the morning (knowing that probably neither of them will actually be available) will it help to make sure the rooms are close together? I'm afraid by the time my parents get there the rooms may have been shuffled and theirs won't be close to ours. Any opinions?

That sounds like a good idea. Have you noted both reservations to be close to each other? VWL isn't a large resort, so even if you aren't close together it shouldn't be too bad.

I agree that it would be a good idea. Generally once a room is pre-registered (meaning you checked in but the room was not ready) it is set for you. As a room assigner I have had some situation where I have had to take a room that was already pre-registered but it is VERY rare. If you check it in with yours it would be a better peice of mind for you.

Sounds like a good idea but sometimes they change the room anyway. My last visit I was given a choice of only 2 rooms at BCV and they were on different floors and different views. I chose the room without the view of the service road. I was given my keys and told to call back in a couple hours and they would give me my room number. Did so and was given my room #. Went back to the room a while later to put the kids down for a nap and the keys didn't work on the door. Called the desk from my cell phone and they told me that wasn't my room and I would have to go to the desk and get new keys and room #. Don't you know I got the service road view. I called and complained that not only did my room get switched but the new room had mold all over the windows and the balcony railings. I asked to be switched but of course they were sold out and I couldn't switch until the next day. I said that would be fine. Then they called back to tell me I had to be out of my room by 10am and put my belongings with bell services. I argued that I had already been inconvenienced with having to check in twice and now having to switch rooms so shouldn't they let me stay in my room until the new room was ready. They would not do it. I spoke to a supervisor and she told me she would have my new room ready by 1am. I said if she could promise me that I would switch and be happy. I didn't want my kids to miss nap time again. Called at 1 to see if room was ready and it wasn't. Told by 2 it would be ready and that they put a rush on it. Guess what? Still not ready at 2. Supervisor called me at 3:15 to tell me it was ready. Kids of course missed nap time which made them a bit unpleasant to say the least. Called member services to complain and all they said was talk to the manager at the hotel. Finally decided this fiasco had ruined enough of my vacation and since it was the first time in about 20 trips that I had any real problems I just let it go. Didn't feel very Disney like to me though. Wasn't impressed at all with the way the situation was handled by any member of the staff I spoke with. Will be at the BWV in 2 weeks and decided to stay off site the first night so that we could check in very early in the am and maybe get a room that is already available and possibly avoid having this problem again. I just don't understand why they would switch your room once it has been assigned. The only reason I could come up with is that the person who checked in after me got the service view with the mold and complained so they switched them since I hadn't been in my room yet.

Best of luck to you

James
