We've never been to MNSSHP and are going on 10/27, but don't want to spend money a costume that will get us turned away at the gates. My wife is thinking of going in the new Miss Scissorhands costume, which you can see at this link:

http://www.costumediscounters.com/s...miss-edward-scissorhands-costume-R889844.html

Disney did not give us any information when we purchased tickets. The costume isn't revealing or scary, but we're concerned about the plastic scissorhand gloves. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I think the scissors would fall under the realm of "realistic looking weapons" which might be an issue.

Plus, that skirt is *rather* short.

I might suggest wearing full fishnets or spankies just to ensure that she can get on/off rides and sit/stand for the parade without becoming the star of the free show

The skirt won't be an issue -- the scissors will be. I can't see them making it past bag check.

:earsboy:

Here's what I found...

Children are encouraged to attend the party in costume.

FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD AND OTHERS, PLEASE ADHERE TO THE GUIDELINES BELOW.

Halloween costumes should NOT:

*Obstruct the guest's view or interfere with their ability to board/unload from attractions and/or the Walt Disney World Resort transportation system (including monorails, ferry boats and motorcoaches).

*Drag on the ground.

*Contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally stike another guest.

*Be offensive to other guests.

*Contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

You might have a problem with "material that may accidentally strike another guest", "be offensive to other guests", and especially "contain any weapons which resemble an actual weapon".

The costume looks more appropriate for the Universal Studios Halloween nights, than Mickey's "not so scary" party. Maybe pick something cuter and less "knifey"?

I know quite a few kids that would be rather frightened of that. Besides that, was she planning on taking the gloves on and off all night because I don't know many people that can get into ride vehicles without grabbing onto to something.

I'd say the gloves are a no go and I agree with another poster about this being more apporpriate for Halloween Horror Nights than for MNSSHP.

Also I don't know if I would buy anything from a website that spelled choker wrong. :lmao:

I honestly don't think the length of skirt would be an issue after what we saw some ladies wearing 9/27. I can't believe they let these people in wearing what they were wearing. :confused3

Mickey's is "Not So Scary" and I think it would be very inappropriate and probably would not be permitted.

Try Universal's Halloween "Horror Nights" or go down to Busch Gardens for Spooktacular, which is more horror oriented.

OP, my concern is the same as yours. I don't think that the costume is at all scary or revealing, but I don't think that the gloves would be allowed. Even if they didn't look like they could do actual damage, they still might not be permitted on the grounds that they could impair her hand function.

how would you get the gloves on the plane?:confused3 you couldnt take them on carry on.

You could pack them in a checked bag no problem.

I agree with all the PPs that the scissorhands will give you trouble. I would recommend not trying to bring them into the park. The costume is cool enough even without the scissorhands. It would be kind of weird to have an Edward Scissorhands costume without the scissorhands, but oh well.

BTW if I remember the movie correctly, Miss Scissorhands (Winona Ryder) didn't actually have scissorhands herself. :)

As the PPs have suggested I don't think you would make it past bag check with those cloves. A couple of years ago DW and I saw a guest in a Snow White costume with a skirt as short as that one and we thought she may be questioned about it. But we saw the group around the MK all night and they were fine. Of course they were getting a number of looks (good and bad) from the guests. But they didn't seem to care.

Using this as a guideline, I would suggest searching for another costume. ;)

Ah, but it's called the "Sexy Adult Miss Edward Scissorhands Costume"...

Do you think that's appropriate for a family venue?

Those hands would terrify a LOT of kids! Mine for sure. And there is no way they wouldn't be bumping into people in crowds. I'd be pretty cheesed if a CM did allow that. That kind of thing belongs at Universal, not Disney.

Just saw this was an old thread. WHY do people dig this stuff up?? Make a new thread if you want to ask a new question for yourself.
