Will this be too much Disney? Anyone done back-to-back DLR and WDW trips?

We are doing spring break in Southern California this year, ending with four-day park hoppers and a three-night stay at GCH at DLR. This is our first multi-day DLR trip since our DDs arrived, so we are very excited. Our trip is March 22-29.

Today, I was invited to speak at a conference in Orlando on April 2nd. The conference isn't on WDW property, but it is very close, and there is a shuttle bus to the parks. I am very tempted to go, but I don't know if WDW will lose some of its magic with two trips so close together.

On the plus side, it will cost me basically nothing. We have APs this year, so tickets are covered. My company will be paying for food, hotel, airfare, and transportation, so other than a few souvenirs, it's pretty much a free trip. And as much as it pains me to type it, FP+ may actually be beneficial to me if I can only do a few hours in the park each night. I also like the idea of riding some things like PotC and HM in both parks so I can really see the differences. Even though I've done them before, it's been years apart, so I don't really remember.

On the negative side, I'd be touring by myself. I'd lose out on networking opportunities at the conference, and I am sort of afraid of the burnout factor.

Any thoughts/opinions?

Networking is pretty important. Than again I don't know your line of work but after a conference seminar on Reoperative Repair of Aortic Root and Ascending Aorta for 6 hours I sure as hell would enjoy a beer at World Showcase or scotch at Mizners. That said I doubt you will be burn out of Disney if that is your main concern it could be fun to see what Walt built while he was alive and how his vision after death (WDW) turned out in comparison.

Not quite back to back, but DW and I went to WDW last March and DLR in May. I wouldn't say we were burned out by having the two trips relatively close together, but we definitely had our fill of Disney for a while. Maybe we'll return to one or the other in 2015.

For us, too frequent visits WOULD lessen the magic. Once every two to three years seems to work well for us.

I guess you've got to decide if an additional Disney visit is worth lost networking opportunities. You say you've got annual passes, so I assume you intend to visit again in the near future anyway.

We first visited WDW 10/09, that year we also visited DLR five times! March, May, July, September and December - that was an awesome year!

My entire family did a week at DLR in June two summers ago followed by 8 days in WDW in early August. I was NOT tired of Disney at the end of the summer. Not by a long shot. It's actually fun to compare them so close together. You'll be surprised how strongly you feel about certain aspects of both parks by the end.

Even if you did one night it would be great! It will be a unique experience touring alone and if you have AP and everything is paid, I would go for it!

Two words: Do it!

We've been extremely blessed two different years to do both DL and DW in the same year, within a couple months of each other and those have been the very best years ever!! They are both so different and so amazing -- I would jump all over this chance without hesitation!!

Have fun!

We have dome the Disneyland/Disney World thing close together twice. For me, it was a lot of fun. For DH, he made me promise that we wouldn't go to Disney again until we had kids... now we do! :cool1:

Really, it's a personal preference, but it doesn't sound like your conference visit will be a full week in the parks, so maybe just take some time to relax - with FP+, you can even reserve rides with your AP, so you can experience stuff without worrying about wait times.

Go for it! I actually know of people that have done WDW and Disneyland in the same day! They started off in the morning at Magic Kindom. Then after a few hours hopped a plane from Orlando to Anaheim. Because of the time difference they gained 3 hours. Then they headed over to Disneyland that evening.

Well, I'd decided early last year to skip WDW this year and just do a cruise. Now I find myself with a possible three extra days after the cruise and my first thought was "I can go to WDW!" There's never too much Disney. :goodvibes

I've done this very thing, though in reverse. I spent a week at WDW, returned home for a couple of days then headed out to Anaheim for a conference. I intentionally arrived early (thanks boss!) giving myself a day and a half of uninterrupted DLR time prior to the conference start. The experience was fantastic and something I still talk about today. Arriving early was key because I didn't feel pressured to skip networking opportunities to enjoy DLR.

I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. What is this "too much Disney" you speak of? :mickeyjum

I ve done disneyland Paris and wdw quite close together before, probably closest was about 6 weeks apart...Paris defiantly made me more excited for Florida!

I went with different people so they were very different trips!
