My Dhs cousin decided to meet us at MK. We have an ADR for Chef Mickeys.
Will they seat us with an extra person?

I wouldn't take that chance, they probably won't. They book you according to party size and if they have you booked for a table for 4 and you show up with 5, they will probably send you away.

Im kinda mad that I planned all this 140 days ago and my in-laws invited her to come!!

Im glad its just for one night.

Im do not want to miss out on any of the ADRS I made!

I tried to rebook but they were booked.

My in-laws are letting her stay in there studio at SSR. I told them they better call SSR! But they wont.

Im worried about her parking her car there over night. She might get up and find her car towed???

I dont do things like this! Its the in-laws that think they can do this and there wont be any problems.

I think you're going to have a problem getting the cousin into CM, but as far as staying at SSR, it'll probably be fine.

I've never heard of them towing a car out of the lot because it's parked for one night without a parking pass, certainly not at SSR, which has lots of parking and isn't near any theme parks.

As long as it's just your in-laws in the studio, adding your cousin will still be within the occupancy limit. Of course, telling the resort you're adding a guest and paying the extra adult fee (if they're not DVC) is the right thing to do, but if your in-laws don't...well, they're adults, you've told them what they should do, and that's all you can do. Don't stress over it.

How many is your reservation for?

If its for an odd number - generally you can add an extra. Like if you have 3 people, and 4 show up, generally its ok b/c they were going to seat you at a 4 top anyway.

I say, show up a bit early and explain the situation, and maybe it could work out.

I'm going to have to do that in October if my mother decides to spend a half day with me with our lunch reservation at 50's prime time - but I'm a solo so I know they are going to seat me a two-top to begin with.

We had an ADR at CM for 10 and 11 showed up. It was fine. :goodvibes

Along with that question, I have one of my own. What if I made a reservation for three people(at Chef Mickey's), but only two show up. Will that be okay? SHould I call them before I go to tell them or should I just explain to them when I get to the check in area? I would think it would be okay but just in case, I'm wondering if that's ever happened to anyone.

Ive never had a problem showing up with less people.

We have an adr for 6. She will make 7.

Thanks for the responses!:goodvibes

I've shown up with one less AND one more than the number that I made the reservation for. If you play the "I'm sure I made it for 3(when you made the ADR for 2) or I'm sure I made it for 4(when you made it for 5) game, you will have no problems at all getting in. Of course,I don't think that will work for Candlelight Processional, though.

If I say, "No, they'll make you go out into the park and find an additional person to fill that seat", will you know I'm joking? :teeth:

As for 'playing the I'm sure I...' game, I'm pretty sure the DIS doesn't encourage/allow suggestions to beat the system in any way.

I wouldn't be surprised if they towed her car, they are keeping a close watch of those staying at resorts that do not have a reservation. We went to CR for a reservation for CM's and were told that there was a time limit for parking and after that time, your car WILL BE TOWED. And having an extra adult in the room over 2 does cost more, so I won't be surprised if they get in trouble for that either. I am a party of 3 adults and I have to pay extra for that extra adult, why should someone else get away with it. You should probably call SSR and give them a heads up yourself, because she might be SOL. It just rubs me the wrong way with people like that that cause trouble for those of us who do the right thing. LauraAnn, I certainly don't blame you, but your in-laws better get a clue.

Actually having an extra adult in the room only cost more if you are a cash paying guest. If you are a DVC member and staying on points, there is no extra charge for more than 2 adults in a room. That is only a CRO cash rule, not a DVC rule. (This is one of the great perks of DVC ownership!--it goes by occupany, and doesn't care if all four are adults--no extra charge). I guess we'll know more when the OP fills in the blanks. As for getting an extra person into an ADR, some places will and some will not. All you can do is try and have a back up plan.

She didn't indicate that they were DVC members, and since I am not a DVC member I would have no way of knowing that, but I'm betting an unregistered guest's car will still be towed. The last 2 times I have been they have been very close in checking who is staying at the resort and who is not.

I agree, I would never leave a car without a parking pass on it in the parking lot. It's easily solved by them getting a parking pass from the front desk. When we stay as DVC members, we often get adult visitors for a day or two and they are listed on our ressies. We get them a parking pass if they need it. I guess the bottom line is if the IL's register their extra guest, which would be the wise thing to do.

There is also the matter of getting through the front gate each day. Without a parking pass, you have to talk to the guard and 'state your business' so to speak

No clue why it is a big deal for the inlaws:confused3

Now, the good part, if they won;t seat you for 7, whatcha gonna do?popcorn:: (I say give her 5 bucks for a hot dog at caseys:lmao: )

In June, the guard checked DH's ID everytime we re-entered the resort parking lot, even though we had the paper in the window from the resort that had our name on it. Last week, we just used the buses.

The in-laws are the ones that invited her to begin with and aren't calling WDW to add her on as a guest. I really hope they get a rude awakening, then maybe they will listen to the DIL. This is exactly the reason I am glad my in laws live in California(Did you know there is an EPCOT at Disneyland, well they said there is because they have been. Yeah, Don't think so.) In-laws are tooo much trouble.

Suzanne princess:

What would happen if you just inform your in-laws that you were not able to add your cousin to the dining reservations?

Then perhaps split up for those meals where at the last minute the restaurant could not take five.

Are dining plan credits pooled to the extent that if at some meals fewer than four attend (for the sake of argument a room/package reservation for four), more than four could all use credits at another meal?

Max occupancy in a studio is 4. There is no charge for extra adults in the DVC resorts, even on a cash basis. All they need to do at check in, is add her to the room for time she is going to be there. They will then know at the gate when she arrives that she is a registered. guest. Your in-laws can get her a parking pass for when they check in as well.
