Will they let me take my fanny pack onto rides?

Hi! Going to Universal for the first time in December. I'm used to Disney and I always have a small backpack with just my wallet, cellphone, and camera...

So, I'm not going to be let on rides with this? How do you keep a camera with you then? :confused3 What a pain to have to go back and forth to a locker??

If this is what happens I'll have to just plan on wearing my shorts with many pockets to keep my things in while going on rides. I just want to be prepared and avoid the lockers. Thanks.

Cargo shorts/pants work well.

Okay, what about sunglasses? do you wear them on the ride and risk having them fly off? Also, DD wears glasses and we usually tuck them in my bag before we ride. I also need her inhaler with us. I don't think I can get by with lots of pockets. I think I have to have a fanny pack.

And then, if you have your camera in your pocket on a water ride, do you put it in a ziplock bag?

I feel like I need a guide on how to manage my "stuff" at US -- it's pretty easy at WDW. LOL.

There is a very small compartment in the seat on FJ that will fit a pair of sunglasses, and not much else. An inhaler will probably fit there too.

Yes, I would go with a zip-lock for the camera, especially on Bilge-Rat Barges.

My DW wears a fany pack in the parks and has never been asked to take it off for a ride in the 8 years we have been going.

When I was there this past May I wore a Very Bradley mini hipster. They made me put it in the lockers at Mummy and Men In Black. I was really surprised because it was cross body and smaller than most fanny packs. They said it was still a loose item.

This is what I was planning on taking with me, but I guess that is going tobe a no go. I thought I had it all figured out too. I'm not a fanny pack person and I hate for my DH to have to pull out the wallet at every ride to get to our room keys. It looked like it would be small enough and maybe enough like a lanyard to pass. Oh well, back to the search for something!

I held my sunglasses in my hand on all the rides :cool2: We didn't do the water rides, but I would have put my camera in a locker for those. You should be fine with a small fanny pack that you can conceal under your shirt. The restraints on alot of the rides keep it secure against your body.

no problem with my small jansport...didn't even try to hide it

My son wears shorts and pants that have chains hanging from them. I am wondering if he will have a problem with them on certain rides or if it won't be a problem. :confused3 The chains will come off, but, it is very difficult to get them off and on.:scared1:

At a certain point they decided, backpacks, purses, fanny packs and any kind of packs or bags have to go in the lockers from this point on I've always put my stuff in the lockers, one time I tried to get on Hulk with my fanny pack and after making the line was turned away,so from that moment I always put it in the locker. They even decided to make you use the lockers at MIB which is kinda ridiculous.

I was thinking of buying a wristlet that I can carry my small digital camera in and tickets and some money. Do you think I would be alright with that?

We just returned and never had a problem with my fugly fanny pack.

I did wonder though; there were so many brits in the park I wondered if they ever got used to the term "fanny pack". (If you don't know, Brits call it a bum bag. To them the fanny is the, um, front area.:upsidedow

Cecepelle: I would go with the fanny pack. You only have to put it around your waist when you que for a ride. Other times, I just carried it over my shoulder. YMMV.

If you can attach it to your belt/put it in your pocket, yes.

Going to Universal for the first time in about 12 years on Saturday! I am way to excited but I have been reading up on the bags/purses and what's allowed, not allowed ect.

My ? is this, the lockers they make you put your bags in, are they located at the loading docks of these rides or are they talking about lockers located in the entrance of the parks themselves. I have no problem leaving my bag inside a locker or cubby that's located outside the ride and grabbing it once it's over, but I will be pretty P'd off if I wait in some long line and get told to walk out of line to go put it in a locker located at the front of the park entrance. Thanks in advance!!

Lockers are located near the entrances for each of the rides that do not allow bags.

They are free for the duration of the ride, at which time you must retrieve your bag, or else they start charging.

I'm grateful for this updated information. I've been going since 1997, but I've had to take the last year off for financial reasons. I think the only ones I remember that they absolutely wouldn't let me take my 3 prong pack on was Mummy and Dr Doom, so it's good to know ahead of time before I wait in line and get turned back.

On the other hand, most of the rides where this may present a problem are rides I probably can't do anymore (my lower back has gotten shifted all caterwalter - bummer!) so I'm thinking MIB and Harry Potter may be the only low-to-medium impact attractions with this requirement. Are there any others that might surprise me?

Thanks!! Majority of the rides everyone is going to want to ride but there are a few I know my mom won't go on so she can just hold my bag. There is no way that we can manage to go bagless while we are there.

Is it all rides at Universal and IOA that have this rule now? I have a crossbody bag, which I know I'll have to put into a locker for some rides but is it all of them now.
