With all the new construction and the building at CR do you think they will ever do a DVC at the Poly? Do they have room there to make a new building for villas without knocking down existing stuff?

I can dream right?

I would love it the Hawaiin feeling would be awesome:wizard:

I would never say never. They would have to do some engineering to make room for it considering where the poly is at.

My guess is yes. Once Disney makes a ton of money off the upcoming Kingdom Tower at the Contemporary, they will probably build another DVC resort on the monorail track. There is a chunk of vacant land between the Contemporary and Polynesian where they could build an independent DVC resort. Time will tell what develops next. I'm thinking the Kingdom Tower will sell out very quickly and Disney will begin a new project using the same recipe for success.

Oh...see I think no( and hopefully I am wrong). The KTV was built without changing the primary structure of the CR. The Poly and CR are origional resorts-I do not think that too much will change. But the vacant land might be a whole nother question.

Ditto.

This does bring up another question, if they built another DVC on the vacant land would it be it's own theme resort or themeing like the Poly. Did they ever have a resort planned for there? I know they had plans for other resorts in the beginning like the peruvian (spelling??)one. I can't find the old map right now.

I don't know if they will, but I would LOVE a Poly DVC

That would certainly get me to add on more points!

The land between the TTC and CR was supposed to be a Venetian themed resort. Supposedly the land is not stable enough to build on. A Persian resort was supposed to be located on a monorail stub north of CR. I assume the monorail switching logistics made this impractical. The area where GF sits was originally going to be an asian themed resort.

If KTV is as much a success as anticipated, look for them to demolish the other CR wing and build another KTV in its place.

I would definitely love to see that happen. It would alleviate all the current DVC'rs that want to stay there!! :cool1:

A DVC resort at the Poly would be a dream come true since the Poly has been one of my favorite resorts for years. There is also a special place in my heart for the Contemporary because it was the first Disney property hotel my wife and I experienced. It was really a tough decision to buy into DVC because we always wanted to stay on the monorail track for convenience to the Magic Kingdom. After crunching our numbers, we easily figured out that DVC would pay for itself in 3 to 4 years because we visit about 6 times a year. We have been members now for only 8 months, done 2 add ons, and never regretted joining. There is a lot of satisfaction knowing that my Disney vacations are pre-paid until I'm 90 years old.

I was told about a year ago that the grand plan was to have a DVC at all the upscale resorts (Contemporary, Poly, GF).

Now that I see the Contemporary underway, I believe that DVC may actually happen at all the resorts, but with 3 years for each, it'll be a while...

and now it seems like they're expanding offsite.

DVC, if you're trolling the boards, I'd like a getaway in Michigan or Wisconsin, for all us cold Illioinois people. (indoor water park, please).

That is a hard one to know. Many people say no because there is limited land, but then again, they tore down a whole bunch of rooms at CR to make way for DVC rooms there. What would stop Disney from tearing down the three furthest east longhouses and building a high rise 'Honolulu' style highrise DVC? Probably wouldn't fit into the theming of the Polynesian very well, and tearing down the longhouses would be tantamount to committing Disney blasphemy, but it could happen.

I could see Disney taking the space used for self-parking at the moment and adding DVC longhouses on that space. They could move the self parking across the street where the current CM parking is now.

In other words, if they really wanted to make a Poly DVC they could. I don't think land is the issue at all.

I doubt that they would demolish the South Garden Wing. They need those rooms for the conventions held at the resort, and it would overcrowd the facilities.

I also think they could use the self parking lot to build DVC. They could also put parking underneath the buildings just like Vero, AKV and GCV.

I agree that the parking area at the Poly is a prime target for expansion. They can always revamp parking somehow.

I still think a reort along the MK/EPCOT monorail (e.g., STOL) would make sense for a DVC if anothera stand alone one is built. Plenty of room, easy road/utility access, and monorail access.

While I am completely disinterested in the KTs and am not a fan of the Contemporary, I really like Poly and think that a DVC there would be awesome. :thumbsup2
