Will there ever be a 5th gate?...

I want a DisneySea for Florida, and we need to go back and give DisneyLand the WestCot that never was. A Florida DisneySea would be amazing.

I agree a DisneySea park would be a nice, different addition to the WDW parks. Although Tokyo DisneySea is the most expensive park of all the Disney Parks, I think it would bring a different "flavor" the idea of a theme park. To take that idea even further, the company could also include some characteristics or ideas of SeaWorld's Discovery Cove, and "plus it", as Walt would say.

If I were an Imagineer, I'd be trying to come up with ways to fix Wide World of Sports, or new ideas for minor parks. Lower budget, for sure.

But in the back of my mind, I'd still be planning another major park. popcorn::

I honestly do believe they will do another full park but agree that until the economy picks up it wouldn't be a good thing to spend money on. As far as ideas I don't know what I would like to see more but I am sure with the wonderful Disney imagineers working on it, it will be amazing none the less!~

My mom is always talking about how they should make a park (or area) of all the old rides. (I really think she just wants Mr. Toad back) She has it all planned out. Maybe we should get her ideas to someone. We always try to decide if kids would want to go on rides that they have no idea what they are. It's a fun dinner conversation. :rotfl:

Here is what I see as the financial sense for a 5th gate, and it has nothing to do with the park its self.

There is only a couple of places that they can “squeeze” any more deluxe and DVC resorts around the existing parks, Since these, especially DVC are such a cash cows I think that this will be the consideration that finally moves the 5th gate forward not park attendance or park “burnout”. Plunking 2 or 3 new DVCs within walking/boating distance of a new park should be good for at least 5 billion so even if the park is only marginally profitable the area around to would be massively profitable

I still see a minimum of a 5 year time frame before there is any possibility of serious progress on this.

You know what's really funny? As we sit here and contemplate what could be around the corner, there are dozens of Disney Imagineers doing the same exact thing...but getting paid for it.

The sad thing, as WDW continues to be busy...but cash revenue is down, these Imagineers are now sitting around wondering.....who will be laid off next!

THAT's sad!

I really love the idea of a 5th gate but I think they should concentrate their energy on H.S.
Update the GMR, build another indoor coaster or two, build a new backlot tour, and add more things to the back area. It seems like a ghost town back there.

Ooh, that is sad! I can't imagine what it would be like to do that kind of job when times are like this. The answer to every idea they have must be: Nope!

There's going to be a 3rd gate in Anaheim long before (if ever) a 5th gate comes to Orlando. Even a 3rd gate in Anaheim is a long ways off with the California Adventure expansion and the economy struggling. However, they do have the land to build another park. In Orlando, they need to help out the Studios and AK. Adding a 5th park would just lower attendance in the other 4 parks not raise it imo. And an under the sea park? Sounds a bit like sea world if you ask me.
