Will there be a free DDP offer this fall?

They usually announce it by now. My assumption is no, not going to open up any more spots from what they have already booked last year. I am kind of bummed and hate trying to plan vacations over a year out!

I booked with DxDP and we do 3 sit downs per day...every restaurant has been available including le cellier, coral reef, 1900 park fare and all the sig dining too! I've done FD many times since 05, ressies have never been this easy to get,,,,Disney is hurting ....with school in the fall this still hurts Disney, the FD is coming......they will probably offer like this curent one with
QSDP...any discount will do.

There definitely is two sides to this story. I have a friend who booked a few weeks ago and was told "June". So she added the meal plan.

I have a few acquaintances I am working with for my December trip (think front office/manager positions) and both told me not to expect any more free dining to the public, but that codes will be sent that may or may not include free dining.

As for the Disney not being filled, I was also told that even with the high prices of gas and the economy that room bookings are way up.

So I guess it's going to be a wait and see game.

We probably won't know anything until after April 30th...every year the offer comes out later and later so there is still plenty of time for Disney to decide to offer free dining.

I'm sure Disney's numbers are up from previous years but I'm also sure Disney is aware that many of their fall/winter reservations are from people hoping for free dining...and that those reservations may disappear without the elusive free dining offer. At the end of the day no matter how the economy is doing, the kids are still in school from September-December. :)

Here's hoping...

Disney already offered free dining for this fall, last year. We booked out trip with free dining for this september, last october. I don't usually like to booking something so far ahead but figured if we had to cancel, no big deal. Wouldn't lose any money. So we are off to Disney for free dining in 5 months :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I saw on one of the websites, it might have been mousesavers, where it showed the historicals of what Disney offered and when they offered it. I was looking on it to see if free dining has been offered for when we are going 10/28-11/6/11 and for the last 2 years in a row, they have offered free dining plan for the time I am going to Disney but they didn't roll out the offer until AUGUST. So when my 180 day window opens up I am going to make ADR's with the hopes of getting the free dining plan and if we don't get it we will just cancel the ADR's.

I found the website. Here is the link that shows the history of Disney offers the last few years.

OK it won't let me post the link since i have not made over 10 posts on here so here is the link broken up.

I was told today by a CM on the reservation side that there will be no free dining offered this year. I really hope that is not true.

These people are NOTORIOUSLY wrong! Theses are NOT the people you go to for accurate information about these kinds of questions.

I would bet there will be an offer for the fall.

One main reason to offer it is because that is high hurricane season. After the year of hurrincanes that trappled across FL, Disney introduced the Free Dining.

During the Hurricanes Disney had to provide food to all the guests that were restricted to their rooms....via buffets or boxed meals.

Fall reservations dropped the next year, so by offering free DDP people have incentive to come fill the parks during the fall.

Wishing y'all luck to get the great deals:goodvibes

If they end up offering free dining, will I be able to add it to my DVC ressie?

No. Free dining is not offered to DVC reservations. You have to book a rack rate room and at least a two day base MYW ticket to qualify for free dining.

Igers however has told shareholders that Disney will be doing much less discounting this year. He might be better informed than CRO CMs.

(And if he doesn't tell shareholders the truth, he opens Disney up to shareholder lawsuits).

Same here. No problem getting any restaurant at any time I wanted. Their hotel bookings may be up, but it doesn't seem to be reflected in their restaurant ADRs. If gas continues to trend upward into the $5/gallon range my gut tells me that a lot of people holding reservations will start backing out. That's when the discounts will start surfacing.

I also booked my adr's and had no problem getting exactly what I wanted. I even went back and changed some a week later. Even Chef Mickey's was easy. I have never been able to get into Chef Mickey's.

I was at Disney for Hurricane Francis in 2004. *stuck*(lol) in the Contemporary Tower for 2 days (well 2.5) while the parks were closed and the storm rolled through. I don't know if they closed for Charley or not and Jeane came through at night. anyways - Disney had food available for guests, but it was NOT free. We still had to pay for those boxed lunches and buffets. It's kinda eerie eating meals at Chef Mickey's without characters and paying near full price. The food was the same, just no characters. The discount was only around $5-7 if memory serves.

We were comped tickets since were were on a LOS package, but the food definately wasn't free.
