Will the system upgrades fix this?

We are staying 5/29/11-6/9/11; however another family is joining us on 6/3 so even though I don't have to change rooms (we have a 1 bedroom for the first part of the stay and then added the studio lock off for the other family)it looks like I have two separate reservations. Because we "check out" and "check back in" on 6/3 I can't make any dining reservations past 6/3 - I have to wait and call back at the 180-day mark for the 6/3 "check in". I thought one of the "upgrades" was a change so that you have one travel plan even though you might have multiple reservations for your stay. Why doesn't the system "see" this as one reservation for purposes of making ADR's?

While the resort will try to allow you stay in the same room, it is still just a request. They will need to have someone in the Studio who checks out on 6/3 - otherwise it is possible you would need to move.

They do very well letting guests stay in a lock-off 1BR when they start with a 2BR lock-off, but adding a Studio to a 1BR isn't quite the same. We have had this situation with both results but have always been able to stay in the 1BR when changing from a 2BR lock-off.

Regardless, either way, it is definitely two different reservations and you will need to check out and back in on 6/3 even if you can keep the same villa. I'd remind the resort of your request (and let them know how much you'd appreciate their assistance) at arrival and again the evening before your guests arrive and then also go down early on 6/3 to check on the status of your request.

Until the system is willing/able to recognize these split stay situations, the 180 day ADR policy may mean two calls.

Good luck! :)

When did it change that you couldn't make the 180+10? When booking online it would always allow up to 10 days from the start of your reservation without any regard to how long we were actually staying.

Two different size lodging means two separate reservations. So they have to wait until 180 days from the start of the second before they can make reservations for that one.

I understand the different lodging types. However it used to be that you could book up to 10 days of dining from your check out date and it did not matter if you were actually only staying 5 days or really even just 1. The system still allowed reservations for up to 10 days. I was more or less confirming if it had actually changed and was wondering when.

I've had a split stay twice in the last year and was able to make all my ADRs at 180 days despite 2 reservation numbers.

I agree with Kat4disney, they should be able to book everything they need on the first reservation. All that is changing is the number of people on the ADR.

I am glad that other people are as confused as me. The CM told me that they can see that we are staying through the 9th but that the system won't allow us to book anything past the 3rd. Seems kind of silly to me that DVC is trying to make it easier to manage your reservations when you have a split stay but the dining system can't accomodate that. Luckily I am not trying to book CRT or something that is as popular as that but I do want to grab an early seating at CP so we can show our friends how cool it is to be in MK before the park opens and having to wait and call back on 12/5 is a little frustrating.

I was wondering if you were calling for the reservations. Have you tried making them online and seeing if it will let you book them that way off of your first reservation?

As a dine agent, I can tell you that there is a disconnect between the resort(dvc) reservation and what dining can do. We can start booking at 180 from your check-in for the remainder of your stay (up to 10 days of stay)--not 10 days past your check-in date regardless of how long you stay. That being said, we cannot book for your entire stay because it comes up under two different reservations. In reality, it should link them together somehow, but the system doesn't do that right now and there is nothing we can change to make it recognize it. Not sure if the upgrades will address that issue or not, but I hope so!

Thanks for the info - even if it wasn't what I wanted to hear:) Hopefully this will be resolved with the upgrade:wizard:
