All,

According to this article, http://www.wdwinfo.com/news/General_Disney_News/Walt_Disney_World_resorts_to_enforce_pool_hours.htm

all WDW resort pools will have a fence put around them if they don't already have one. Does this mean the late night swim is out? For those of you who might be there in October approaching Halloween, that would be the time a fence might be built.

Please let us know if you see any work underway.

PS - if memory serves, the cabin pool already has a fence around it, doesn't it?

. . . correct
. . . too much liability to allow Midnight swims
. . . besides, it is against Florida Statutes no to have a lockable fence

. . . unknown exact date for the fence
. . . when it is up, off-hours swimming stops

Please let us know if you see any work underway.
. . . yeppers

NOTE: We have been told by managers that the drowning of the little
boy is going to cost WDW plenty. Yes, he was swimming without a guard
and signs warned against it, but, there was no fence to prevent swimming.
Thus, WDW is technically complicit. So, fences are going up property-wide

Ugh. This stinks. We love swimming and relaxing in the hot tub late at night. We will be there on the 18th.... Will let everyone know.

My questions would be,

Do ya spose the fence would help to keep folk who are not PAY'N to stay at Disney, outta the pool ?

Or would Disney STILL not monitor who comes and goes during pool hours ?

I could be wrong but it seems to me that a none Disney guest could cause even more of a liability (insurance reasons) then a pay'n Disney guest ?

The way I see it, Disney isn't much worried about liability at the Fort, they let ANYONE in regardless if your stay'n there or not. Much or most of everything they do "after the fact" is simply to say "see there we've taken steps to correct the matter".

(in my opinion)

. . . maybe
. . . this would only happen if a attendant was at the gate checking keys

. . . we will call Lamont Cranston for his take on this

. . . nope
. . . they complied with the law when a fence is erected

. . . actually, they don't care who is in the pool
. . . they care about SAB, only because it quickly could become overcrowded

. . . Disney is not known for being proactive

They should make the pool gate access via the guest card like the bathrooms are after certain hours.

1) No disagreement, here.
2) The only glitch would be guests letting in non-resort-guests
. . . pool hoppers
. . . local residents sneaking in
. . . CM's sneaking in after work

So if I'm reading this right they will install lockable fences at ALL Disney resort pools. Boy that's gonna ruin the theme and great views at a lot of resorts. I'm not a lawyer or the jury but I don't see how Disney is responsible. His family ignored posted rules and he accidentally died. I'm sorry but this is a prime example of someone trying to get rich off Disney. His Dad and lawyer need to grow a conscious.

. . . yes, ALL resort pools will be fenced and lockable

. . . probably not as bad as some think
. . . a few flowers, bushes, and Mickeys can disguise the fence

. . . Disney IS STILL RESPONSIBLE, that is the law
. . . if someone dies in your pool, you are at fault if
. . . . . . the pool did not have an adequate fence/wall
. . . . . . the pool gate was not secured

They are installing fences at the bigger pool. The quiet pools will still be made available for swimming at all hours. However... I'm guessing they won't really be quiet anymore. Lol

do we know when this is going into effect? My DH and I will be coming down for the Wine and Dine half marathon and would love to just soak our legs after the race. The only other option will be to have a kiddie pool shipped down to be able to soak seeing as how we are staying in a popup

You can still go to the cabin pool and use a key card to get in, I believe. That's what we've heard, not actual experience yet.

Just reading this and I did not realize a young boy died. When did this happen?
What happened?
