Will the ESPN 5K be back in 2011?

I have not done this race yet and would love to try to go next year. Does anyone know if it will return? Thanks!

I'd be willing to bet that it will be back. We have done this the past 2 years, and it is ingrained into the ESPN weekend. Lots of fun. You'll enjoy it, Becky.

What weekend is the ESPN 5k usually held? Is it a disney race or sponsored by ESPN only? Do they offer a medal for this race and is it timed?
Can you see I know nothing about this race, but am interested!!

This race is usually the last weekend in February, so it puts it the week before Princess weekend. The medal is very nice. It is a silver circle with the EPSPN 5K logo on it and a Mickey cute out of the top. At least that is what it was the last two years. This year they offerred a tech shirt instead of the cotton from the previous year and it is one of my father's favorite running shirts. The race is Disney and EPSN sponsored and it is timed.

That sounds really cool. Did they say it wasnt going to happen in 2011? Was there one this year? If so where do I look to register for this?

They did it in 2009 and 2010. There has not been any news on 2011 yet. The registration for it is available on the main Disney Sport Endurance page when it is available: http://www.disneysports.com/endurance.

If I recall correctly, they usually announce this race fairly late, at least compared to their others. I would guess that you wont see anything about it for a while.

What do you mean by late?? Can you give me an idea of when I should look out for this? I might forget to check for it. I think this may be a great birthday gift to my husband as his birthday is the end of Feb and this would make a great quick trip to disney for us.

I do not remember when it was available last time. I would probably look for it in the October/November timeframe. Keep an eye on the website: http://espnwwos.disney.go.com/sports/endurance/

I do not think it filled up last year, so you can probably go and sign up as late as December or January.

Maybe someone with more info can chime in here.

Becky: Don't count on it next year other than they will use it as a lost leader now that WWoS has been renamed at ESPN!

We're doing well, other than we had to move from SC back to OH. We were down for Marathon weekend in January, but we didn't run into as many WISHer's as we have in the past...unfortunatley.

OMG! Is this true?? It would make my day!! I had to miss the Princess this year due to my DD's competitions and figured it would be a yearly thing. That would be so wonderful if they moved it up!

I was able to confirm through my website's contact with Disney Sports that the ESPN 5K WILL be back in 2011. She was however not able to provide me with a date just yet. So I would stay tuned. I really enjoyed this race two years ago and was hoping to run it again in 2011, so I am very happy to see it continuing on for another year.

Hi just giving this a bump to see if anyone has heard about the dates for the 2011 espn race. I am hoping to surprise my hubby with this for his bday next year. We will have to see when the dates are though.
Any info???
