Will the crane be up in Magic Kingdom?

We leave Monday for Disney - does anyone know if the lights on the castle have been taken down yet or will be soon? Just wondering if I should expect to see the crane or not at MK? Thanks!

Do they still light up lights on the castle until they take them down or at one point do they just not use the Christmas lights anymore and take them down later?

Lights will stop any day now if they haven't already, but it will take some time after that before they are completely removed.

The crane will not be there this weekend. The Marathon is being run on Sunday and the lights are still on for that event. It takes some time before they bring out the crane... you should be able to get a lot of nice crane-less photos in MK during your visit!

According to wdwmagic, the crane was scheduled there last year from January 22 through to February 10, 2013 for removal of the lights. They haven't posted dates for this year.

From wdwmagic, the crane was there from September 16 - 30, 2013 for installation of the lights.

No crane yet, and I doubt it will be until at least after this weekend, as MK was pretty busy today. Lights have not been on while we have been here (since Wednesday 1/8).

FYI: The crane IS up. We first visited on 1/14 and it was there.

They are taking down the lights and refurbing the Castle. crane is scheduled to be up until sometime in March.

I was hoping you would get some crane-less photos!

I was there yesterday. Crane was up but they took it down in the afternoon. There are still lights on the castle (unlit of course).

Wdwmagic has posted that the crane will be up through the end of March. Apparently, they're doing castle refurb as well as removing the lights.

Not only did we see the crane up this week, we also saw them working on the castle. I took a few pictures. I was also glad we'd taken most of our pictures on Sunday, before the crane went up.

man, this is disappointing. i leave next week, and half of my party of four has never been before. i was hoping their first impressions of the castle would be without that ugly thing.
