You won't get me going on holiday to Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia or the USA at the moment but at DLP we feel safe.

Agree with Turkey Egypt and Tunisia right now.

I don't think there as much of a threat increase to the States right now, purely due to Europe having free flowing borders makes it more of a risk than USA. It's clear they (terrorists) have been moving through Greece and Turkey and on into Europe, and intelligence teams are not talking to each other either, which isn't helpful.

There is a clear heightened security presence in London today, most of the office buildings round the city area are checking passes of staff before they even make it off the street and I've seen more patrols around the tube and train stations. Having the Channel between us and the mainland Europe will make it easier to control and monitor who makes it in and out of the UK, allowing the security services to monitor those they are keeping and eye on in the UK in more detail.

I'm not worried about a terror attack in the USA, it's all the idiots with guns over there already that worries me, it's a country that belives that it's OK for children to be killed in schools by people going out to their local supermarket to buy a gun. Americans belive this a normal every day thing to happen.

Gun ownership in the USA is out of control and the goverment is always too scared to do anything about it. A friend of mine was mugged and shot dead while on holiday in the US so maybe my viewpoint is tarnished. America needs to wake up and realise it has a major gun problem.

I am a gun owner myself in the UK but we need to fill out a lot of paper work, get visited by the Police and have a secure place to keep your weapon. In many US states you can just walk into gun shop and walk out with one and enough ammo to start WWIII.

There was once a thread here on disboards about gun ownership - it was scary the amount that thought it was an absolute must to take their gun with them to WDW. Imagine how many are actually carrying one in the parks right now.

As I said back on page one. Its not the terrorists potential to harm me that worries me - this applies to paris or any other holiday I may go on. The odds on being harmed are ridiculously low.

Its the potential for disruption that puts me off. I go on holiday to get away from stress, and I usually save up most of the year or even longer. Im not going to save up that much money for that long when I may get there and the parks be closed etc. Especially when holiday insurance may not cover for this.

129 dead and what another 100 injured - no, chances are too low to scare me.
tens of 1000's of people have had 3 days so far of disruption to their holidays though - that puts me off.

I still visit NYC and did soon after 9/11, I wouldn't hesitate from visiting DLP or Paris again. Don't live in fear and don't give the terrorists what they want! My heart breaks for Paris.

I am going in roughly a month. I have concerns at the moment but I really don't want to cancel the trip and right now I still plan on going.

As a US citizen, I'm sorry that you assume all of us think gun ownership is OK and that we believe it's "OK for children to be killed in schools". I hate guns. I wish we could ban them all, but that's not realistic. The majority of Americans are aware we have a gun problem, I mean how couldn't we be? I have three kids who I pray for every day when they go to school that some maniac doesn't walk in there and decide to do in Kentucky what happened in Pennsylvania. I 100% think we have to redo our laws and so does everyone else I know. So just please don't assume we think it's "normal every day thing." We don't.

I'm sorry about your friend, but violence is everywhere.

We'll be going in roughly a month too. I do admit I am glad that we are going by car this time. The idea of being on a train or the RER in the city right now... I wouldn't call it scared, but I definitely would have a funny feeling in my stomach. Maybe concerned is the right word indeed.

I totally get why people may be concerned and cancel. I don't quite agree with my sister though who has vowed "never to go back into a football stadium."

After 9/11 I went to a sci fi convention. Roughly two months after the date. I can't remember how the 9/11 topic came up. But I still very clearly remember the response of one of the actor guests. He said that he had thought about cancelling for the show because he also had concerns about flying. But then he realized that "If I let them put fear inside my heart they've won, and I am not going to let the bad guys win." I still hear him saying that 14 years later. And that's what I am personally trying to go by.

I am leaving tomorrow by high speed train from Brussels straight to DLRP, for 1 night at Kyriad.
I've been saying I'm not going to cancel, that I'm not going to let people like that win.

I have to admit now, as it's tomorrow morning I leave, I'm getting a bit scared now.
Not being in France actually, but being on a train for almost 2 hours where you can't get out, doing this trip alone and it's dark quite early now during winter. That scares me more right now due to recent events.
I still really wanna go.
I went into the city this evening, and when I got home, I saw there was a bombalarm 30 minutes after I left that exact place, so you just never ever know, that's why I didn't cancel my train tickets/hotel.

I booked for the Christmas period a week before the events of Friday. My excitement has turned to concern. My daughter is also booked to go to Sharm just after Christmas. I really do not know what to do to be honest. Most of the time im determined to go but then a massive dread takes over and I wonder if its the right thing to do with a small child. I know people are saying they wouldn't go to Egypt or Tunisia etc but France has declared that they are at war. I still really want to go - but don't want to worry the whole time im there.
Someone said they are giving no question refunds - is that just for this week? Also im sure the Eurostar wont refund at all.

Nope. Like PPs have said, I certainly won't be traveling to the Middle East any time soon, but to not go to Europe as planned (our trip is July 2016) is just giving the wackjobs what they want. If I changed what I did based on 9/11, or the Boston Marathon (while obviously not on the same scale, I work about a 20 minute walk from the site), I would never leave my house again let alone get on a plane. France is a beautiful country, with beautiful people and I'm not going to let fear mongers rob me of my chance to experience their culture.

To echo bibbidibobbidibecky, as an American please please don't think we're all ok with gun laws. I would hazard a guess that it's a very vocal minority, or the general problem of too many corporations filling the coffers of elected officials (though that's merely my opinion, and I certainly don't want to start a debate about that!) Again, while I do completely understand your perspective and don't blame you for your feelings considering how the issue has affected you directly, it saddens me to hear your feelings.

We checked into the Sequoia Lodge yesterday. The night before our trip I was seriously questioning my decision and I admit I was scared. Now we are here and I am so glad! We have had a wonderful day, the cast members have ALL been outstanding! We feel so welcome, and I truly have not felt anxious at any time since we arrived at CDG airport.

That's where we are. Maybe see you at breakfast.

No obviously not - I go twice a week and also use the train station and bus depot crossing through DV to do so.

The countries I wouldn't ever have gone to ever hasn't changed and it's only lack of finance that stops me going to places like Iran or Lebanon not fear

I am seeing on another Disney forum people are now afraid to visit Disneyland Paris and some people are cancelling their trip booked for February 2016.

I am also booked for February 2016 but I will not cancel and will continue my plans

While I understand that today Disneyland Paris is closed, these attacks do not put me off visiting Paris or Disneyland. To me thats part of what they want, to disrupt normal life , not just in the immediate but in the future. Even if I was booked for this week, I would still continue with my plans, and unless the airports were closed or Disneyland Paris closed, I would not cancel my trip.
I just wrote about this in the Disneyland section and and some people did not appreciate my concerns. I'm not canceling but I had asked if there was a new policy in security and I got some really good information from other posters and advice to help calm my nerves.

You say you don't want to visit there, This is what I have to contend with on our up coming flight - http://www.news.com.au/travel/trave...s/news-story/abd04232214faf13a29cb2a446a6b233

Now, I can not control where the plane flies, but I can control where I go and as such we have cancelled the Paris part of our trip. I am not going to push my luck....lol

I don't drink at all, but I may partake in a few to get me from Dubai to London and return.

I know I have more chance of dying in a car accident - only the other day, a car went through a "Give Way" sign and stopped not even a foot from my drivers side door...scared the total c**p out of me.

Yesterday the same thing happened on the passenger door side - scared the c**p out of my daughter, who was sitting in the passenger seat.

Then today, a woman on the wrong side of the road heading straight for me swerved at the last minute, I couldn't swerve or move over, as I had no where to go.....fair dinkum, I seriously don't drive an invisible car.

I do know London has its terror issues as well and have spent the past few days, wishing we had decided go back to USA, but we wanted to go to another country, before going back to USA again. Kicking myself now.

I know, if I give into my fear, the terrorists win, but I don't think my daughter and I not going, just two little Aussies, will affect the win lose ratio that much :). I am just not as strong as others, who have no fear.

Uhm I never said "abused" I said they copped flack and they did, many post have been deleted now anyways, so hard to point them out. Was in both the Trip advisor Disneyland Paris and Trip Advisor Paris forums.

Guess you must have read the good replies and not the others that were giving flack.
Actually I read all of the comments being posted on there as I was relying heavily on that forum for advice about whether to continue on with our trip. There was a lot of respect towards both people who were cancelling and people who were going ahead with their trip. I was actually one of the first people on there to visit DLP soon after the attacks and was keeping people updated while I was there on what was happening, trying my very best to help people who were unsure.
