Will Temps in the 40s Keep People Away?

We will be at Disney Dec 19-23. The forecast for Monday the 20th calls for temps in the 40s. Will that affect park attendance negatively? Which of course could be a positive for those that can take it!! Or does it have to get colder than that before people begin to stay home.

Anyway, man it is going to be awfully cold Monday I wouldn't get out there if I were you! (Psst. Spread the word) Stay home by the fire and keep warm!

The low temps will be in the 30s for Sunday and Monday night. Will that send many home early leaving the evening less crowded or does everybody just buck up and keep a goin'?

I just finished up high school football season so I'm ready to sit out in the cold some more

It was very cold last night at MK for MVMCP and I don't think it stopped anybody. Saw people wrapped up in blankets, saw others in shorts.

If you are prepared for cold weather you can still have a great time at WDW.

Perhaps some of the locals would wait for a warmer day. Other than that, most guests probably come from a place where it's colder than 40.

Well....our airfare is paid for, our rooms are paid for and our tickets are paid for....we are going to the parks and having a blast!!!!! I know you were hoping for a different answer, but I think most who are traveling to go there, will be in the parks. Actually, our DS is THRILLED that it is going to be cold...says it will feel more like Christmas, anf I tend to agree...but I sure do love those palm trees!
Now, how do I find room in the suitcase for a blanket?

I wish. If 95 degrees with high humidity doesn't keep them away, then I doubt cold will either. From what I understand it's been pretty crowded down there and it's supposed to get real busy starting Saturday. We'll be there with them!!!

My friends went a couple years ago when it dropped into the 30's {{BRRR}}. They said that the crowds were much lighter that year than other years. Especially late at night. People are just not willing to hang around all day and night when it's cold.

I bought every member of our family a pair of "stretchy" gloves. They're on sale for $1.50 each at our local Walgreens. They are small, light weight, fit easily in your pocket or bag and keep your hands toasty warm down to about freezing.

I think it may thin out the crowds in the evening. After dark it really gets cold. I was at MK on a Saturday night in early December last year, the temps were in the high 40's. I was surprised how empty it was for a Saturday night.

I was hoping that unseasonably cold weather would keep locals away and therefore reduce park crowds and that those of us in from out of state might turn in a bit early and/or get out a bit later in the AM.

With it being so cold on Monday, what might be the best parks to attend? I was planning on EE for AK and then MK for the evening.

I won't be there until April, but just wanted to remind people that they can pick up those "hot hand" things to put inside your mittens or gloves. I had to be outside during the election in 55 degree temps for about five hours, and they really helped! My FIL got them for me at Home Depot. Also, you have to shake the package to activate the heating crystals about 30 minutes before you want them hot.

One of my favorite Disney World memories is huddling in Adventureland with my son, both of us wrapped up in our parkas, catching a few of the fireworks from the bridge, absolutely freezing!

I was there last year about the same dates as I'm going this year (12/19-22), and I did notice that the crowds really dropped off after about 9PM, when the temp dipped down to around 30. The combination of the fireworks ending and the temp dropping thinned the lines in Fantasyland substantially.

We'll still be out and about but--jeez, I'm bummed that it's going to be so cold!

That said, on our trip in March--the day we arrived, it was colder in Florida than it had been when we left Michigan and we still were out and about doing things. It warmed up after the first day and then the weather was great.

DH says that we'll be able to warm up gradually this time around! It always freaks him out to go from really cold weather directly to really hot weather.

Wow.....it's so much harder to pack for December than July. We usually go in July, so it's pretty easy to pack. I'm going to have to wait until the last minute to make sure I'm either warm enough or not too hot. I suppose there could be worse things to worry about.

No, but all of you cold-weather people can laugh at we Floridians who will be whining about how cold it is. We can't take it!

I'm packing for the cold weather. We leave on Saturday. It is hard though I feel like I'm packing for a long trip since the close are so much bigger than my shorts and t-shirts.

The one thing that people don't realize is that with the early morning temps at or around 32 degrees, some things will get cancelled. They cancelled our boys pirate cruise the last time we were there because it was forcast to be 32 degrees that morning. It ended up being about 37 degrees when we woke up and about 40 degrees when we arrived for the cruise, but it had already been cancelled. All of the rest of the cruises were booked for the rest of our trip so they didn't get to go. It was disappointing. They did give us a complimentary pass for the mouse boats for a free hour of use since we didn't get their message about the cancellation the night before. We showed up for the cruise and were informed that it had been cancelled. We just took the boys with us to breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and they accomodated us with no problems.

I can't think of anything else right off hand that may get cancelled, but keep that in mind with the cold temperatures.
