But I swear, I was like a bulldog or a terrier or something in a past life because once I get ahold of an idea, I have a hard time letting it go.

Why it's good - Later flight time on arrival day means we'll all have slept well the night before. It also means we'll lose that day, and our departure day, but in theory, we'll be well rested for Monday, our then first full day.

Option Two- A Tad More Expensive

Sun 14 700 - 950am
Sun 21 930 am - 1215 pm​

Total Cost - $816
Why it's good - We gain that first day. Potential pitfalls are the worst case scenario of our room not being ready until three. We could go to a park...Magic Kingdom, anyone...but after throwing DS all out of whack, he's really going to need a good nap. Still puts us as not having solid transportation back from the airport that Sunday.

Option Three- Let's Just Throw Caution to the Wind Here

Since we bought the tickets in January, we don't have to pay the luggage fees. My dad will only bring one bag. So will my and T. So I can pack EVEN MORE

I forgot to write this: I wouldn't sleep....it would just give me more time to toss and turn. We fly out on a Sunday morning....I'll be here on that Friday asking you all why I didn't fly out Friday morning. I like early departures....more chances to get a flight home.

I have deliberated long and hard. Is DS the kind of napper that will fall asleep in a stroller in a park or in a "quiet" place, like while strolling the WL grounds??

I think if that is the only thing holding you back is DS' naptime, which is important, that you should just roll with it and take your chances.

As far as the transportation, you said you were going to ask your Dad if he could switch shifts...right?

Maybe if DS is tired when you get back to the room you could hang by the pool until your room is ready. It's not as good as the room and a nap of course, but much less tiring for him than a park. Then after a nap you could hit a park.

I think CP and LL bring up good points. Another option would be to price out cost of a shuttle or something for that last day if your dad couldn't pick you up--then see if that expense would make one of the other flight choices more appealing. Though I rather doubt it'd cost $115 to bring you even with option 3. Then again, I've never had to take a shuttle for three to/from the airport.

There's $100 cancellation fee, and $100 transfer fee. I can't figure out if that's per ticket, but I would assume.

I also read/heard that Delta is notorious for changing flight times. Has anyone else heard this?

Delta has been changing flights and canceling flights all together. I think an additional $39 for opt #2 is a small price to pay for free luggage and cancelation flight credits.
My worry is if you don't book soon there may not be seats on the flights you decide you want.
I got a good tip from DisMomAmy....if you fly sw....book each flight separately....that way if you have a problem with either it's easier to change just that one flight.

I have had bad experiences on Delta. So has my family and friends. Even when they're cheaper, I avoid taking their flights. My family, friends, and I have all experienced long delays. And while my flight times never changed with Delta, I have heard from other people that it does happen.

Have you considered American? Or Jetblue? Or Continental? I've had really good experiences with all three airlines. And have gotten very reasonable airfare on American and Jetblue. For our trip next month, we paid $238 per person round trip on American.

I haven't flown Delta in ages--so long ago that I wasn't the one who had to pay for my ticket (family trip to somewhere-or-other when I was 14, I think). But I think the downsides are numerous enough that you should stick with Southwest.
