Will TarzansKat meet Captain Jack? ~A Pirate's Life for 3 Pre-Trippie~ We're back!

Have you thought of calling to ask? They might be able to tell us. I would love to know.

I tried that last year -- they keep it completely hush hush until it happens...

Oh, I would hate that about the changing flight times. Did I mention how jealous I am that CP can drive there?;)

You could drive, too -- it just might take you a few days. :scared:

I am the same way. It could be tomorrow, or it could be next Tuesday. I hope it's tomorrow, I'd love to get airfare done with.

I know it would be a weight off your mind.

Truthfully, I seriously debated it. Actually, I haven't totally ruled it out. But if Southwest comes out with a good fare, flying is cheaper, and gets me there sooooooo much quicker.

It's cheaper and easier in the long run to fly if you live as far away as you do. Charles and I have seriously considered flying next summer if we can get a good fare -- there is something so nice about the whole Magical Express idea! Not to mention that the flight time is like an hour and a half or something -- it would essentially give us two full extra days.

I have driven twice. *Shudder*

Unless I was driving with really fun people, I would never do it again. DH doesn't count, we bicker over directions. Did I mention that he told me not to go the way the sign was telling me, yep. The man doesn't trust road signs.

Jasmine too.

This makes me laugh. My younger niece doesn't approve of Jasmine as she wears pants and not a "pretty" dress and shows her belly button as well.

You will be fine. You find fabby airfare and all will be right in TK land. :goodvibes
AirTran already changed my return flight, they are taking off about 15 mins earlier now. I wonder how many times it will change before it's here.

If your flight is a direct one, keep an eye on your flights. I saw on the Transportation board that Air Tran is cancelling a lot of their nonstop flights. Flying on a Saturday you should end up okay, as I think that is the only day they are keeping many of their non-stops. So far mine are still there. (Flying on a Friday and a Sunday).

I am the same way about tracking dates. Last year, Disney released packages on August 5th, a Sunday. So, I was thinking this year it might be August 3rd. But, then, I also noticed that packages were released the day before Party for the Senses reservations could be booked (totally unrelated except for the proximity of dates). Yesterday, I saw that Party for the Senses can be booked starting August 11th. To my mind that means that packages might be released on August 10th.

Out of curiosity what is Disney's Party of the Senses? I've only heard of the Party of the Senses that is held in England, and is deciededly not Disney entertainment. :lmao:

Here's a link that will give you an estimate of your gas expenses.

Maybe it will give you a better idea of the cost comparison.

My last driving trip in 2006 was enough for me. It's just too long! I wouldn't do it again unless I had the time to drag the drive out over a few days.

An event during the Food and Wine Festival -- I don't know much more than that since the price is always out of our budget and it seems to book pretty quickly.

Thanks, I realized afterwards that the England thing was the Realm of the Senses. I obviously watch too much late night HBO.

Good luck with the airfare! It was going to cost us around $2000 to fly us all down to Orlando, just from Nashville... at that rate we'll definitely be driving.

Well, I went online first thing and there are airfare specials but not for where we'd be flying out of.

Came home from working out and there is a DING fare, but only Mon-Wed or Mon-Fri.

I will never, ever, ever, ever book a trip on a weekend again. I always did Tues to Tues or Wed to Tues, and I was trying to be corteous to DH's employer.

I am getting very upset now. I cannot even fathom paying $1000 for airfare. Do I have the money? Yes. Do I think it's totally ridiculous? Yes. Am I thinking about calling free dining a wash and booking at a different time of year? Yup.

I can wait one more week since perhaps it's mid July that Southwest will offer the fare compared to historical data.

I just don't know what to do anymore.:guilty:

Have you checked other airlines? I know you are a southwest girl but it may be worth looking into.
Don't get depressed, it will work out. LL promises.

Don't get depressed, TK!

Think of it this way -- if you booked at a different time of year, you would have to pay for the dining plan, so it would probably all even out with what you are paying for airfare. Does that make sense?

::yes:: Makes complete sense to me.

Remember TK, this is the vacation that the TK family deserves.
Wilderness Lodge in all it's splendor, slushie cokes, the first trip to WDW as a family of three, non-itinerary plans, Coral Reef, spontaneous moments that become lifetime memories, playing in the boneyard(?) at AK with both of your boys, sandwiches at GF Cafe and the TK/Tink meet at Poly!
Priceless memories for your family.

I just looked up Delta. They're okay, but what concerns me is there penchant for changing flight times destroying seating arrangements, and the baggage fees.

That does make sense...except I'm confident I could do this vacation less expensively. I don't know, I'm just in a poopy mood, I'm sorry.:goodvibes

You're so, so sweet.

I'm trying to maintain that focus. I need to talk more to DH about it, I mentioned it this morning but by the time I got home from working out, he was on his way to work.

I know. We all have them. They are not any fun. :flower3:

Alright, I have a totally hare-brained idea.

Bare with me. Well, not bare. Because this is a family board.;)

What if I scrapped this trip and went in December for DH's as yet unspeakable birthday?

What if I changed our dates so that we were flying on a Tues/Wed, and therefore didn't incur flying on the weekend fares?

I've priced it out.

It's potentially less if we stay at a mod, which I'm okay with, and even pay for the dining plan.

I'm betwixt and between.

Thoughts?

::::SIGH::::

Honestly, I think you should just stick with the Wilderness Lodge in September. You have been looking forward to it so much. I think you have been inflicted with tripdoubtitis. I had it a few weeks ago. I am sorry you caught from me.
Plus, who knows how crazy the airlines are going to be in December....?? That would worry me.
What are the differences in paying for flights? What if you cut the trip short and flew home early, is there anyway you could shift your days now??

 First, breathe. Relax, and think of the bigger picture. This is your trip, for the TK family. You've so been looking forward to this.

Sounds to me like a case of the mouse ears are bigger on the other trip. TK, I seriously think that if you rebook, you'll regret missing out on WL. You'll be in the World in Dec for LapuLapu Fabby Fest '09, so you can get a holiday fix then. If you want to have a World celebration for DH's unspeakable birthday, why not pick an un-birthday day during the September trip where he gets to call the shots?

I agree with LL. Airlines in December may be awful. :( You've so been looking forward to staying at WL; I agree with looking into shortening the current trip or maybe shifting days.
