Will TarzansKat meet Captain Jack? ~A Pirate's Life for 3 Pre-Trippie~ We're back!

Well, perhaps not London...but Walt Disney World!

Last night, whilst DH was working at his second job, I had some time on my hands. The little peanut had a bath, was read to, rocked, and all nestled into his bed for a good night's sleep.

TK, however, was fixin' to cruise the Internet. I was on the prowl, and began my travels at my favorite site, the DIS. Well, after checking all my subscribed threads, I like to peruse the various boards and see what's doing. And one of my favorite boards is the Budget Board.

Do you all remember the blessing/curse that is the budget board? If not, refer to the previous chapter about online shopping, and how the local Kohls knows me by how many items I've returned.:scared1:

So I was just toolin' around, minding my own business, doing a little internal  :cool1:  :yay: since the stimulus check was deposited, and feeling pretty :cool2: that I knew the money for the trip was in the bag...or the vacation savings so to speak.

Suffice it to say, I had my frugal pants on. NODiscretionarySpending! A-pa-ha!

What to my wondering eyes did appear? A post about Disney Shopping. With codes. Oh, special codes. Bane of my existence. How they mock me in all their sale/free shipping/price reduction glory. What tempted me so much I could not resist a perusal of the site?

Free shipping with a $50 purchase and 25% off.

You had me at hello.:sad1:

:rotfl2:

So, what did I purchase, my Disney-crazed friends?

Truthfully, I looked all over that site. I said, let me see if there's anything for DH or DS I can purchase in advance for Christmas, but alas, no dice. I was swayed by the power of the DIS side and various threads about families matching outfits and cute Disney clothes. Swayed over to boys apparel! Where the quality of the clothing is so good, and covered in liscensed character heaven!!!!:yay:

So what did I buy?

Everything for the little peanut.

And with good reason, I may add.

Now this is not one of those I need to write about it on the DIS in order to justify it in my mind jaunts....cough, cough...ahem...WildernessLodge...cough.... These to me, were necessary purchases. I'll explain why since I've drifted so much you're probably screaming "get to the point!"

DS has oodles of Disney tees. As a matter of fact, that's pretty much what we own. Every now and then we venture off to some other characters, like his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shirt, to which DH has a matching one, but pretty much its Disney. And usually revolving around few central themes, with a couple of deviations, Pooh & Friends, Mickey & Friends, Cars, & Toy Story. His Nemo shirts are too small...::sniff, sniff:: Well, the boy is well-outfitted, what can I say. He also has plenty of shorts for the summer, thanks to my mom. We hunted through three different Targets in the vicinity and finally found size 4t in the Circo brand. These fit him best and they're such good quality. Summer/vacation clothing shopping done, right? WRONG!

I don't know if you're aware that September in Disney can be just a bit on the hot side...:rolleyes1

Well, I adore the way DS looks in sleeveless tees or tanks. I think he's cute, and for the parks, you can't beat well-ventilated arms. Slather him with sunblock and he's cooler and ready to go. Who would believe that two sleeves would make such a difference in how warm a child is, but they do! Well I moseyed over to that disney shopping website with a mission. Find tanks for DS! And I did. Some were two for $20, some two for $15, and all worked with my 25% off code. When I had picked out four I really, really liked, I took a look at the total. Then I added in what shipping would have cost. It came to about $46...to which I said, self, if you're willing to spend $46 with shipping, why not just add more product to get to $50 and get free shipping! How brilliant says I!

And that is how four tanks quickly turned into four tanks, two t-shirts, and a windbreaker. Now, I'm pretty impressed with myself here. I managed to get the boy seven articles of clothing for about $53 when all was said and done. Thank you 25% off, and thank you free shipping.

So here's what my little cutie will be sporting on our vacation. A new medium blue Mickey basketball themed Tank, a white & green Buzz Tank, a navy blue Cars Tank, and a Power Rangers Tank. Now we don't actually watch Power Rangers. This is a shout out to DH who every day on our last vacation would find the old school Power Rangers shows on tv and flip them on as we were getting ready in the morning/getting ready for bed. Plus I thought it would be cute if we're in MGM and are lucky enough to meet one.:goodvibes

Now we also ended up with two tees. The force was strong with one. It was full price. But it lured me. I love how DS looks in ringer tees. This one is light blue, with chocolate brown as the accent color and a chocolate brown Mickey on it with his arms folded that is just adorable. I don't know, something about my little auburn-haired boy in light blue just makes me melt. The other tee is paying homage to a classic. 101 Dalmations. Like I said earlier...see, there are tie-ins...we very rarely deviate from the core characters. DS loves dogs right now...his favorite book du jour is Go Dogs Go...and he loves 101 Dalmations. It's also a nice yellow tee, which will look just adorable.

And he really needed a lightweight jacket, his again, are too small. So I bought everything in a size small. I know, I know, but my DS is very tall, and over the weight limit for the xs, and I really would love it if these clothes would last more than one season. So If I get them and they're horrendously big, we'll try and exchange. C'est la vie!

This lead me to another course of action. Regardez-vous (wow, I'm so French today), TK + lack of sleep = what fun and new ways can I obsess about my vacation?

Ah, matching/slightly corresponding family outfits!!!

So I went and looked at my new non-itinerary of ADRs and kept in mind what I had just purchased for DS and came up with some basic ideas of how I can get us all to sort of match either by color or thematically. Granted, I'd like to keep certain outfits for certain days, but alas! I am but a slave to a three year old mini tyrant who will look at me in the morning and say, no Buzz shirt Mama, I wear Mickey Mouse!:lmao:

So we'll see how that goes. At least I have an idea of how to get us somewhat coordinated (which I've never done before, only matching shirts for the boys), and hopefully that'll translate to some nice family photos!

So for once, I don't feel guilty about spending money online. I think I made some wise choices, and I'm very excited about my purchases!

Drinks all around! Savvy? pirate:

TK, you are just too cute for words. You described those clothes in such detail that I can picture them perfectally. Your DS is going to be the cutest outfitted boy in all of WDW. You also got a lot of bang for your buck.
I'm glad you are not feeling guilty! This is your splurge vacation, WL, slushie cokes, coordinating clothes, the TK family is going in style. :cool2:

That's how I feel about it. When the clothes actually arrive, I will definitely post pics of them on here. They are too cute for words.

We are going to be rollin' in style!:cool2:

I've been trying to avoid using those Disney shopping codes all weekend. And you're NOT helping!!! :rotfl:

Sounds like some fun purchases! I can't wait to see pics.

I've been trying to avoid using those Disney shopping codes all weekend. And you're NOT helping!!! :rotfl:
Sorry! ;)
Sounds like some fun purchases! I can't wait to see pics.

I can't wait to get the stuff! Honestly, I looked at tees for me and DH, but really didn't find anything that was a "must-have." Therefore, I spent it all on DS, quite the worthy candidate I may add.:thumbsup2

The mental image of you panhandling at the Grand Flo, with the kids dressed up like paupers a la Oliver is just too much of a mental image for me at 6:41 am. I am DED. But quietly, because the boys are sleeping.:rotfl2:

;)

The new purchases sound fabulous! Can't wait to see pics. I did manage to swing by the Disney store today and bought the children a couple of shirts and some Disney dollars! :thumbsup2

Sounds like you got some cute stuff from Disney!!!!!! Makes me want to go to the website right now!!!!!

BTW, I love your pretrippie!

Good for you! Keep on rolling with that pre-trip excitement. Only three weeks to go for you!

Sounds like you got some cute stuff from Disney!!!!!! Makes me want to go to the website right now!!!!!

It's an addiction, and one I sadly admit to. Although I must say, the last time I ordered from the website was many months ago, so it was time.;)

BTW, I love your pretrippie!

Thank you! I'm lovin' writing it. It helps keep me sane while I wait for our vacation. And also causes me to do financially irresponsible things like upgrade to deluxe and have a little disneyshopping.com shopping spree. Don't you just love the DIS?:thumbsup2

Beep...beep...beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

"We interrupt our regularly scheduled pre-trip report programming to bring you the following special annoucement of the emergency pirate broadcast system..."

My mom met Captain Jack Sparrow!:woohoo:

Oh yeah, you heard me right. On Friday, she and Nana went to the BBB to have some girly fun in celebration of Nana's birthday and they got all dolled up. My Nana was referred to as Queen Mother insert her name here, and my mother as Princess insert her name here. Too funny! They sent me pics from the camera phone, and let me tell you, they looked lovely. First time in my life I've ever seen my nana in a tiara! :goodvibes

After the BBB, they headed to the Grand Flo for tea, during which they called me to tell me they missed me and we chatted about their trip.

And then, under penalty of personal disownment (not really, but I try to throw some weight behind my empty threats) my mother and nana went to the P&P party, and guess what they did first thing?

They walked right over to the line for Captain Jack Sparrow. Which was an hour long! And they waited...for me. My mother's exact words were "only for you." :lovestruc Aw, my mommy. So, they got their pic taken with the Captain. I am so excited, because if I don't get the opportunity at least someone in my gene pool has!!! Now, that calls for some

Mom got in late last night so I haven't gotten the full details, but when I do, I"ll happily post them.

"Now to continue with your regularaly scheduled pirate programming. Remember, this was not a test. Somebody in the TK family met Jack Sparrow!";)

My mom met Captain Jack Sparrow!:woohoo:

And by 'met' you most certainly mean 'bagged as a carry-on item', right? I think he'd fit in an overhead storage bin.

I'll be back. I'm going to the USPS site to find out how much it'll cost to have him sent to me once you're done with him.

Woah, Woah, Woah...back up here. They went to BBB, as in the place to become a princess that LL really really wants to go too but can't find the courage to go?!?!?!?!

Ahhh, mommies, aren't they great?? That is just too cute that they waited in line for YOU. But I must say, you will meet the Captain. I can just feel it in my bones! pirate:
As I was reading this, my mommy just called me. She just got off the cruise ship and wanted to check in. I won't lie, after not talking to her for a week, I had a few little tears in my eyes because I missed her so much.

Yup! My mom said they felt like fools but had a blast. She wouldn't do it again unless I want to go for my as yet unspeakable birthday. I'm on the fence on that one.

Ahhh, mommies, aren't they great?? That is just too cute that they waited in line for YOU.
Yes, I'm sure meeting a gorgeous pirate had nothing whatsoever to do with it.:lmao:

But I must say, you will meet the Captain. I can just feel it in my bones! pirate:
We can only hope. The World and the world will never be the same.

Awww...

Today was a banner day in my world. It was also the day of ten Disney tie-ins. But allow me start at the beginning. I got a taste of freedom. Oh yeah, you heard me right. FREEDOM!

After my mom being gone most of the week, and my taking care of DS while DH worked some late nights several nights in a row, which meant taking over the bedtime rituals which normally aren't my task, I was totally fried. The day my father watched DS for me, I literally got up, went to work, and when I got home, DS was awake from his nap. No break for TK. Playing, dinner, bath, books, rocking, bedtime. DH worked that night, and the following. By the time DH came home last night I was exhausted. I had had it. We won't even discuss the level of cranky going on in my household...and it was me!

I had just had very little alone time. Usually I get out once a week, even if only to do the grocery shopping by myself. It's so important, I think, for any mother to have some semblance of alone time, whatever that may be.

So today, DH said, go out honey. Do whatever you need to, etc.

FREEDOM!!!!!

I started my jaunt on the open seas by going to the grocery store, where I returned a :scared1: amount of bottles and cans. We'd waited much too long. Like $4 worth too long. That was exciting because all the bottles/cans money gets put right into the vacation savings! Disney tie-in number one.

Then I headed to Target, with the intent of getting DH some deodorant...the poor man was fixin' to run out and that's just not good.:rotfl2: Actually, he's not really a sweater, but we do like to maintain a certain sense of personal hygiene, unlike our favorite captain. "Trifles!" I stopped in the dollar spot to peruse and found some cool stuff. I had once read, don't remember the thread, that some people bring a pop up hamper on vacation, makes it easy to keep track of dirty laundry and for carrying to the laundry room, etc. I found a cute one that looks like a clown fish...ahem...NEMO...ahem...and was $2.50. I had been religiously checking our Dollar Tree, but no dice. I thought the extra $1.50 was totally worth it. Disney tie-in number two. Then, I found some sidewalk chalk for DS, and thought, phew...something new and fun to do on my days off. Unfortunately it's supposed to rain buckets for the next couple of days, but maybe we can get out during some semblance of dryness.

Then I moseyed on over to Kohls, where I...you guessed it...returned something. :lmao: That felt good. I thought about looking at the clearance racks, but I just didn't feel like clothes shopping. Just didn't want to do it. Wouldn't have been prudent. Seriously, I didn't want to spend the money on it, especially when the other night I pretty much figured out what to wear to Disney and it's all items I already own. Disney tie-in number three.

Afterwards I headed to the Dollar Tree just to take a gander. There's one in my hometown, but I was in a neighboring area and thought I'd take a look because this one is bigger! :thumbsup2 I was able to find a huge container of bubble solution for DS...more fun things to do on my days off...and it smells like pineapple....:::said in old crohn voice:::why when I was younger, we didn't have fancy smellin' bubbles!!!....:::resuming normal TK voice:::where does he get those wonderful toys? ;) Next I found a really cute book for DS, entitled Best Friends, featuring the Aristocats, Lion King, Lady & the Tramp, etc. Disney tie-in number four.

It seemed like no matter where I went it was turning into a Disney-fied day. I was lovin' my day of freedom (which was really only a couple of hours, but hey, it felt like a day, kwim?). Next I headed to Costco as I had some coupons and we need some things. But before I headed out on my shopping ventures, I decided to spoil myself. I walked right up to that there fancy eatery and ordered myself a non-fat frozen yogurt twist. All for the bargain price of $1.48. And then I sat, and at the whole thing by myself. And pretended it was a Dole Whip. Disney tie-in number five. And people watched and pretended it was Main Street. Disney tie-in number six. And no joke, saw a kid in a cart with mouse ears on. I did a double take. Nope, really there, not too much rum in the Dole Whip! Can you all believe that? Disney tie-in number seven.

This was shaping up to be a fantastic day of freedom. It may have been your local warehouse shopping establishment but I was turning it into my own personal Disney siesta.

I had ended up with a cool hamper for my trip, some fun stuff for DS and I to do, a great new book (he LOVES to read), and topped off my gas tank to the tune of $3.87 a gallon. Instead of the $3.97 it is right near where I live. Life was feelin' pretty sweet.

And then I got home. And DS still hadn't taken a nap! At two o'clock! :scared1:

And he never did. He pooped. In his diaper. But we didn't know, because it was one of those subtle ones. Oh, how few and far between those are!!!! When we finally figured out that was the reason, a nap was looking like a lost cause. So he was awake, and my mother called and asked us over for dinner. We decided that would be a nice little distraction, and I hadn't seen her yet.

So we went, and got the low down on her trip. She had a great time. I won't give you all the details, because that's like a trip report in and of itself, but she did meet Jack Sparrow, and said he was very good looking and very in character, and she really did wait an hour to meet him. I saw the evidence on her camera. Unfortunately, not uploaded yet, so you'll all have to wait patiently.;) Disney tie-in number eight.

And she brought treats! Boy, were we excited! DS got three new tee-shirts, a new car:Filmore, a little box of Mickey cookies, and a lollipop. The pop was a big hit. Don't worry, we made him eat dinner first. :thumbsup2 DH got a bag of Chip & Dale Trail Mix...spicy, thank you very much, and my mom brought me the Magic Kingdom Special Event CD! Oh, how I have coveted this CD. Didn't get it last year because it didn't exist yet...oh I how I craved my happy haunting music from the Halloween Party. Disney tie-in number nine.

So tonight, on the way home from my parents, we listened to the my CD which includes music from MNSSHP, P&P Party, etc. As soon as I heard the first strains from MNSSHP I felt so glad I had bought the tickets for this year. And I didn't care what the cost. That CD transported me right back to every single MNSSHP I've ever attended, and that awesome adrenaline rush I get when I first enter and know what kind of fun awaits me and my brethren. I got chills. Literally. And it wasn't the AC in the car. Finally, we got to the Boo to You parade song. Oh my gosh...how cute is the TK family all bobbing their heads back and forth, yes the boys did it with me, to "boo to you and boo to you and boo to you and boo...happy halloween." Oh, I love, love, love that song! I'll be humming/singing it for days! Disney tie-in number ten.

All in all, it was a good day. No real vacation planning, so to speak, unless you count I figured out where to house our dirty laundry, but still, a Disney day.:cloud9:

I didn't know such a CD existed. Your Boo to You tale makes me even more excited for the MNSSHP! princess: pirate:
I can't wait to see the pics of Capt. Jack!
