Will TarzansKat meet Captain Jack? ~A Pirate's Life for 3 Pre-Trippie~ We're back!

Another chapter for a loyal fan! Thanks for the ego boost! :goodvibes

Hey you know we love you, like the rest of us you just need to HEAR it sometimes:rotfl:

Ursula is fab, my DBro is a bit of a Mr PerfectHighAchiever too so I can totally relate to her (plus I'm also a bit of a buxom chic :rolleyes1 ) My fav villains are Malificent ('cos she turns into a dragon and I  dragons) and Cruella Devile 'cos she is SUCH a beeyach:rotfl:

Cruella is just a misunderstood fashionista with questionable moral values...I'm sure there a plenty of real people like that! I mean just take a gander at America's Next Top Model. Phew! Have you seen some of the ladies on that show? Perhaps I shouldn't even be using the term ladies...yikes! ;)

My least favorite villian is Scar. I actually cried that first time I saw the Lion King. And no, I was not a youngin', I was old enough not be crying at films by then, but a sappy teen I was. Oddly, enough, my best friend, who was a guy, also got a little teary eyed. It didn't help that at the exact moment Mufasa died, this little four year old sitting behind us started asking her father "What happen, Daddy?" in a cute high-pitched voice. Oy! I was

I mean, let's look at Scar shall we. He kills his brother, makes his nephew think he did it, and then drives him off into the wilderness to die. Talk about sibling rivalry! :confused3

For the first time, not to long ago, showed us that she has feelings for those other than herself. We were watching Where the Red Fern Grows. It was near the end. She turned to me with much amazement and said "look, Momma, I'm crying."

Yes, we are huge Star Wars and Indy fans. Yes, Charleston Princess, I too, love Harrison Ford. However, we may have to set these aside to focus on what MGM is really about for us. And truthfully, that's DS. Last year, our day in this park, was totally geared around him, and it was a blast. I had so many full circle moments, I'm surprised I didn't just lose it! :)

But remember: little boys and SW/Indy go together like peanut butter and jelly! :thumbsup2

I am really, really excited about this park. Before you laugh at me, let me tell you why. In the past, when I've gone with family, the ladies and the gents split up for an afternoon. The ladies go have tea at GF and the gents stay at the AK and have lots of fun. See, for the past two years, I have missed more than half the Animal Kingdom! :scared1:

I think it is my favorite park -- I love the feeling of being in Africa and Asia without the fear of contracting a strange disease and with having everyone speaking English -- not to mention, I don't think I can find animal print Mickey head clothes in either of those places! :thumbsup2

We have a reservation at Boma! At 540pm, precisely. I figure this is plenty of time between when we'll be leaving the park and taking the bus over to AKL. And if we've had our fill of being hot and sweaty and gross earlier in the day, then we'll just head over to the AKL and enjoy the resort itself. Since I'm staying in a value this time, I'm going to sneakily enjoy some of the deluxe hotels on the sly. In case you hadn't picked up on that, you'll note the scheduled time I indicated at the CR after our CM ADR. Ah yes, we'll be pretending we're living it up, folks! That's part of the fun, too, is enjoying different resorts while you're there. Then I get the feel of having been there without shelling out the big bucks.;)

I've heard lots of good things about this buffet, and all right here, on the DIS boards. Mostly I've heard there's something for everyone, and not to leave without trying Zebra Domes. It's up there, folks. Right up there with Captain Jack, Tarzan, Tonga Toast, and Dole Whips. Ah yes...Dole Whips. :cloud9: Pardon my salivating. Just thinking about all the yummy Disney food is enough to make a gal go crazy...I mean, how many months do I have to wait for this trip? :scared1:

It's our favorite place to eat -- in fact, we are eating breakfast and dinner at Boma in June. Yes, the zebra domes are everything they claim to be -- little yummy morsels of pure heaven!

Great updates! I have enjoyed reading!

I will be forewarned. ;)

I noticed in your pre-trippie that you're eating breakfast and dinner there. All I could think at the time was, wow, they must really like it there! :thumbsup2

That's my DH's doing -- also, at the time, we thought we would be staying at AKL so that was going to be kind of our "hang around the resort" day. Now, it's going to be an Animal Kingdom day which will work out well -- breakfast at Boma, drive to AK and do the park all day, head back to Boma for an early dinner, and then head back to POFQ for an early night.

We do really like it there! :goodvibes

Alright, I know this my pre-trippie, and I have been faithfully reading yours, but I don't remember you actually resting on POFQ. That is where you're staying? No switching again? ;)

Have you been there before? If you haven't, I'd be happy to tell you a little about what I remember about it. :)

Yes, once I changed the ressie for the fifth time :scared1: back to POFQ, we stuck with that one. I think it helped that I paid it off. We stayed there last June and loved it. We loved the size, peace and quiet, and atmosphere -- if I can't have AKL, I can be happy at Port Orleans. Also, we are looking forward to going over to Riverside's pool and taking the boat to DTD.

In truth, I have decided that I can be very happy at any of the Disney resorts :).

I totally agree about being happy at any of the resorts. Vacation is always what you make of it. I really, really love POFQ. I don't know if I've said this before in my pre-trip, but eventually my love of beignets did not trump DH's love of the slushie Coke machine at Pop. That and the fact that it's $500 more made a pretty slim case for me. So, for now, I'll just have to live with the dream of staying there when DS is a little older and able to appreciate the down time at a resort. Right now, he's lovin' the fun at the kiddie pool and all the big icons at the Pop, so Pop it is. :thumbsup2

Love your updates!!!

The park formerly known as MGM :lmao:

And I agree with you and Charleston Princess. Any Disney resort is better than no Disney :thumbsup2

We loved Pop when we stayed there in October -- frozen Cokes and tie-dyed cheesecake -- the atmosphere was so fun there! It's currently DD's favorite resort.

My goal is to stay at all the resorts -- six down, how many more to go? Of course, repeating POFQ doesn't help me achieve that goal -- hmmm, do I have time for another resort change? ;)

Glad to see my little analgoies are actually amusing. You know, I didn't even plan that, it just sort of flowed with the writing.

I think that's an honorable goal! A noble goal! A goal, I myself, will probably aspire to. Let's compare notes, my friend. What are the six you've stayed at?

There's always time for a resort change :thumbsup2

Don't encourage her! ;)

Believe it or not, that's what I am doing right now -- browsing through other resorts...I should be uploading photos into photobucket!

Alright, I confess...I actually browse through threads on the resorts board extolling praises for a variety of deluxes. Then I open my handy dandy Excel spreadsheet in which I compared the pricing of value, mod, and deluxe during free dining. And reality sets in. :sad2:

I am enjoying your writing style.

Thanks! :lovestruc

In order of appearance:
Contemporary (I was 12)
Polynesian (in 1995)
Port Orleans Riverside (2004)
Port Orleans French Quarter (June, 2007)
Pop (Oct., 2007)
Coronado (April, 2008)

I want to stay at Caribbean Beach, but they are redoing the main pool.

I am not sure how I feel about the other Values in the middle of the summer crowds! :scared1:

If I were rich: Grand Floridian Theme Park View

Don't encourage her! ;)

Sadly, the most off-hand comment can set me off down the path of resort changing...;)

Same here -- for now, we will content ourselves with visiting for meals and browsing. DD really wants GF for her 13th birthday, so I am going to do my hardest to be able to do that. Let's face it, it would be a great treat for me, too.

That's an excellent line up right there. I totally agree with the Grand Flo comment. If I had unlimited funds, it would be my hotel of choice.

I don't remember the exact order in which I've stayed at these and some of them have been more than once, and some of them are now called something else, but I'll list them with the names they had when I was there.

The Contemporary
The Grand Floridian
The Disney Inn
The Disney Institute
Port Orleans French Quarter
All Star Sports
All Star Music
All Star Movies
Pop Century
Wilderness Lodge
Animal Kingdom Lodge
The Polynesian

Wow! Am I reading right? Gosh! I never realized how lucky I've been until I list them all out like that. :goodvibes

I should add, just so you're not all thinking, how the heck?

I worked for the Disney Store through the majority of my college years and a bit after, and they were still owned by Disney. I got into the parks for free, and was eligibile for up to 50% off on rooms. Ah, the good old days. Of course, Disney World was my vacation of choice. My mother and I would go two to three times a year back then. Those were some days! :cloud9:

Also, I was still working for the Disney Store when I got married, so I was able to stay in the Grand Floridian concierge for half price. Still a pretty penny, but totally worth it. My 10 day disneymoon.

Well, judging by your siggie, you've got three years to save up for it! :)
