Will Small Children Be Scared Of Rainforest Cafe?

My DS7 has always been terrified of the place. The first time we went, he was 3 or 4. He didn't like anything about it. We've returned twice since (not to those in WDW--we have two in our area) and he hated them both. If you have someone who doesn't like the dark, or thunderstorms or strange noises, it might not be a good place to visit. I spent most of the dinner in the gift shop/lobby with him, and he ate nothing because he was so scared in the restaurant itself.

My 4 year old and 2 year old like the place as long as they did not seat us next to the moving monkeys and the elephants. To play it safe don't get a table next to the moving animals - sit near the fish. The kids tried to camp out under the table and wouldn't eat their dinner the whole time. You never know until you go there. I guess it was a bit too real for them.

The thing that would scared me the most - THE HIGH PRICES. This place is such a joke. Terrible food along with high prices. I know, WDW is pricey, but for a chain resturant - YIKES! I would look at a different place to eat.

:confused3

We really enjoyed the food at RFC and the theming is wonderful. We first took our DS when he was 4 and yes he was a little scared at first. The thunderstorm is what bothered him, but with some reassurance, we were able to enjoy our meal. He really enjoyed looking at all of the animals. :)

We also had a period of time where our DS was afraid of the restaurant. Probably when he was 4. But he still hates the talking tree in the store(I think she's called Tracy Tree) two years later.

My dds love RFC. They are 4 and 22 months old, and we first took the 4 year old when she turned 2. The food is ok, but we love going because it is the only place that we don't have to worry about eating and entertainment! The girls love to look at everything, which allows us to eat while the food is still hot.

My 3 almost 4 year old screamed like a maniac from the time I told her the monkey would move until we left. Glad I'm not the only one! :grouphug:

We went a couple of years ago, and a family at a nearby table had a little girl with them, maybe five years old. They were sitting near the elephant, and she seemed to be a little nervous. When the lights went down and the thunder rolled, however, she started screaming and she hid under the table. They couldn't coax her out all evening. It really depends on the child, I think. If you go, don't get a table near the big scary animals... they're fun for us, but very intimidating to kids!

We first took DD when she was about 3. The thunderstorm did startle her--and probably frightened her--a bit. After the first one, subsequent "storms" were better, but I think that first visit she looked a little worried, but not really scared. And she ate well! Enjoy!

I agree when my DD was 3 the thunderstorm did scare her, Now that she is 5 she likes it.
