Will price point for POP increase?

With the newly renovated rooms, lobby etc and the soon to be gondola system I foresee a price hike for POP Century.
While POP is definitely my personal fav of the value resorts it's still a value resort. Wondering if the powers that be will continue on this " price increase " trend that's been happening the last few years?

Most definitely. It's why I do believe the rumor that they will be eliminating the Value, Moderate and Deluxe categories and going to location based descriptions. Like MK Area Resorts, Epcot Area Resorts, etc. Then they are not tied to the current pricing model.

Also keep in mind that there's the rumor out there about possibly adding moderate/value (maybe not so much value, but with Disney, who knows) DVC areas as well.

Absolutely no doubt the price will increase.

Yeah, I'm all for improvements etc if they're done right. I don't mind paying for quality, sometimes the " value " isn't necessarily monetary but rather in enjoyment & experience etc.
Seems to me that in the last decade they've been adding experiences that just don't fit & are more mainstream commercial minded. In my opinion they should've spent the money on re-theming the all star resorts. I understand they are " value " but it's my belief they could've themed them better that the generic icons they currently are. I mean you're " Disney " they have an endless amount of talent & criteria to choose from.

If it increases to moderate prices, then I'll stay at an actual moderate where I can get a queen sized bed, more dining options, and access to a quiet pool and waterslide.

I don't think they will be able to pull this one off. A room at an All Star is not the same as at Coronado Springs, even though they are close in area. They are going to try to raise them to the limit, but I see them having a very hard time in the long run.

If they do increase, will it start in January 2018? I'm just curious if I should be paying for our stay in full (Jan 27-Feb 3) now before the increase. I was hoping to just put down a deposit for now.

This makes me laugh only because of something personal that recently happened to us. We had a house fire (electrical and the walls were standing, the roof was fine - had soot, smoke, water and holes where the fire department had to break in because we were not home). Our insurance company (who was great - even tracked down my mother-in-law in Maryland - we live in Georgia - to let someone know our house was on fire) said we would not see an increase in our policy rates because of the fire. But we did see an increase in our rates. Because our home was now worth more since everything had to be upgraded to current codes.

So, Disney can call an increase whatever they want but if you are getting something better ($122K in damages for the house), then expect to pay for it in some way.

Seems like sooner than later a value resort will be in the $200 price range. I remember when you could get a value for under $100. I feel like they will price out a lot of families from staying on property if the prices keep going up on the values.

It would price me out because I'd refuse to pay that for a value. Even though I could. The Disney Springs resorts are pretty nice and freq have discounts thru Mousesavers.
I prefer to stay on site, but there will come a time when prices just get too stupid. And WDW isn't the only game in town

Just an FYI - the refurbished rooms at Pop have queen-size beds.

Nice for couples. I couldn't see sharing a double bed. Lucky for me husband doesn't come and it's just me and 1 daughter so we each get our own bed.

They're not going to try to do that. Because of the current 3 tiers of Resorts, it's expected that all the Values be somewhat close to each other in cost. Once they remove the Value, Moderate, Deluxe classification, they are not tied to that.

And if they go to location based descriptions they are not going to make all the resorts in an area be close in price. As you said there's no way an All Star will be the same price as Coronado, especially after Coronado's refurb. What they will do is, say on the website "What area would you like to stay?" Then "In that area we have resorts from $125 to $350 per night".

They want to get rid of the pricing constraints that currently exist.

And this all still in discussions, but they are getting serious.

I do think that there is a ceiling to be hit, I think, what people will pay. I know there is for me. I like to go during late January, early February because of the lower crowds and lower prices, deemed value season. And there are very few weeks during the year that is being considered value anymore. I guess they would like to rid the seasons terms as well. I imagine they hate the word value.

Just looked at numbers around Christmas time and Pop is $15 more per night than All Stars. I know it has been more, but I thought only by $5 or so.

Interesting. Now I must admit I think if Disney Springs is of importance to you on your vacation, the Port Orleans resorts do have more value in that regards. Much more value than the other two moderates, and I bet Disney will take that into account. Disney ruined the transportation to Disney Springs with the buses.

I'm sure the price will go up and it will be a huge disappointment for me. Pop is my go to value resort for shorter trips when the whole family isn't there. I need to stick to a tight budget but I didn't have a good experience at the All Star Sport so I'm not
sure what we'll do if Pop goes up too much. I'm also terrified of heights so the Gondola system isn't a draw for me at all.

And as a family of 5 CBR is our go to resort when we all go. But they are being effected as well it seems. Being one of my absolute favorite resorts this one bothers me more, but I'm
trying to wait and see the end result before worrying too much.

Disney is getting out of the "Value Resort" business.

They have been "plussing" the Values for several years with the addition of Fridges first,then full-size Hair Dryers insread of the tacky wall-mounts and more recently,Pool Towels and the new rooms at POP receiving more amentities previously reserved for Moderates such as Coffeemakers,large wall-mounted TVs,"Vanity Door",etc. with these amenities almost assuredly to come to the All-Star Resort at some point.

Gone forever are the routine $59.00 per night AP Rates at the Values during certain times of the year-we can turn out the lights because that party is over.
