Will price point for POP increase?

I can see them increasing the price at pop and justifying it by classifying it as a "value plus". Basically the gondola and queen beds is the main selling point in justifying it as a value plus. Depending on the price they charge, it may or may not be worth it.

Seems like sooner than later a value resort will be in the $200 price range. I remember when you could get a value for under $100. I feel like they will price out a lot of families from staying on property if the prices keep going up on the values.

Well I paid $200 for POP on NYE .. never again. But I think POP will creep up to the $150+ range (at low end) IF gondola built. I would drive if there is no bus but if price that high, I won't pay it.

And you can still get them under $100. Recently paid $86 a night at POP and my fall dates are $91 at AllStars (still debating if I stay offsite though for less money and more room & breakfast.)

Im not sure i'd stay at Pop for $150/night either.
And yes I was going to say the same.... I've seen All Stars at under $100/night. I too am going in the fall again and have seen decent prices.

My fall dates have no discounted POP rooms and rack was $129. Nope.

I could have swore that a couple of months ago when i was shopping around for rooms at the all stars, I saw prices just under $100. Yet when I looked just now (for Nov), sports is $100 on the nose, and Pop is $117. .....For your dates Pop is $129? When are you going?

Sept 17-20 POP had no discounts, room was $129.
AllStars are coming up with discount at $91.

If DS2 comes I have to add $10.
I have room at Hampton South LBV for $76 with breakfast and queen beds, for $89 I can get a huge suite with additional sofabed for us each to have our own bed. So Allstars is a good option but I can't see me doing POP ... I mean I don't do rack rate, except NYE.

Actually looking at WBC 1 bedroom for $95 a night but I have to stay the week and I wanted to split it half to beach. I go to beach, then WDW, then beach so I can get more park days without extra hotel nights. First world problems.

I think that's their goal. They want to have guests with deep pockets, so "value" pricing means cheap to them. We went through this before, they don't want the repeat customers, they want the "once in a lifetime" guests who spend twice as much as we "frequent fliers".

Thats a big price difference $129 vs $91. I do love pop, and with the room refurbs I really want to stay there again...but im like you, I dont do rack rate. If there's a better deal at All Stars, i'll take it. I will only put my foot down with Music. i'd rather pay more and stay at Pop than to stay at music again.

wow, $89/night is a great deal, esp since you can all have your own bed! :teeth: yes, first world problems.

Exactly!

I hear you.
I will be offsite before I stay there ....
..... unless I can get the old days of $59 a night.
I'll just pack my flashlight and more ... ;)

Yes, big difference, now if they drop some AP prices for Sept that may help at POP but I have a feeling with the change in Free Dining to only get QSDP at moderates, I think lots changed their booking to POP. Add in this renovation .... not holding out hope for a discount or at least enough rooms to be able to capture one. That bathroom isn't worth $38 a night if there are only two of us, we get our own full bed at AllStars ... and if DS2 comes .... well Mom still gets her own bed. :D

My daughter had a softball showcase at Wide World of Sports this past week. I was chaperone to three teenage girls all 13 years old. We live about an hour and half away so being AP holder I booked an AP rate at All Star Music for Fri and Sat night at 119 a night. As luck would have it Wed evening we found out the team had an very early game scheduled on Friday morning having to be at WWOS at 6:45 a.m. This had me scrambling to find a last minute room close by for Thur night. All Star Sports wanted $159 to add Thur night, yeah not happening. I ended up booking Marriott Townplace at Flamingo Crossing for $92 including breakfast. The room was at least twice as big, had a kitchen, decent size bath and two queen beds (which had far superior mattresses than ASM,) ans a pull out sofa bed. It took all of 7 minutes for us to drive to WWOS. The moment of truth came when we walk into our room at All Star Music on Friday afternoon and all 3 teens commented on the fact that our room the night before was much nicer, larger and since we will be back for a week in July they wanted to see if it was possible to cancel the All Star Sports reservation the team has booked and go back to the Marriott Flamingo Crossing. I checked when we returned home and they could accommodate the team at Marriott Towneplace in rooms with 2 queens and pull our sofa bed at $22 a night less than All Star Music. After much discussion the team decided to move locations. We all have our own cars so that factored into our decision but the bottom line was we as a team just didn't see the value in staying at the All Stars... If the prices climb at the values I know I won't be staying there. I'm willing to pay for the Disney difference with a deluxe or mods but not the values and that includes Pop even with the upgrades.

The problem I see, is the current moderates have a hot tub, pool slide and TS. The current values lack those. Where would price points fall? Room size, too.

Every hotel would have their own set of amenities and IF (I'm still hoping until it comes out Disney's math) they build this gondola ..... there is your perk. You aren't an Epcot or Monorail resort but you are a GONDOLA resort.

You will now have queen beds or if a couple the advantage of a more spacious room with the murphy up. Our joke with room size is ... I don't use the floor so why do I care there is more floor? I would rather have bigger beds, which they are doing.

Based on current pictures that bathroom is WAY nicer than the moderate bathrooms.

Many don't use the hot tub (I have one at home and don't trust public ones, although Disney is a close as I'll get), many like us all adults don't care about the slides and no matter where I stay I eat all over the place. While I love the moderates it is hard for me to book because I don't use most the amenities. The rooms themselves are going to be their selling point.

I think each resort will have it's own special details and that is what will be sold. I agree with others, there will be no values, moderates etc. AoA already started the playing with the higher price point so I expect POP to join them ... and they are connected. My guess is the bottom price will be $150 range and high holiday will be over $200. Moderates will likely jump too especially CSR once their construction is complete. It is different, spa, salon, fitness room, business center, more dining and drinking than other moderates and now this tower ... that will jump in price.

Late August ASMo is cheaper than Pop under the room only discounts. Approx. twenty percent cheaper iirc. I never see that, nor asmo included in discounts when pop isn't. ASMo is usually a bit more expensive than assp and asmu.

Why would movies be more expensive then the other two

Disney is getting out of the "Value Resort" business.

They have been "plussing" the Values for several years with the addition of Fridges first, then full-size Hair Dryers insread of the tacky wall-mounts and more recently,Pool Towels and the new rooms at POP receiving more amentities previously reserved for Moderates such as Coffeemakers, large wall-mounted TVs,"Vanity Door",etc. with these amenities almost assuredly to come to the All-Star Resort at some point.

Gone forever are the routine $59.00 per night AP Rates at the Values during certain times of the year-we can turn out the lights because that party is over.

I just me, but imo they can dress up and plus values, but really all they're doing is bringing them up to industry standards. What hotel or motel doesn't have a fridge or coffee maker? Or flat screen TV?
They can't do anything about tiny room size. Or lack of the type of pretty grounds that moderates or Deluxe have. The buildings are just cement blocks with big icons on railings.
Pop is fun, but no matter what Disney calls it, it's still going to be a value resort, but maybe less of a value in cost soon :sad2:
Just my opinion.

I was able to get a Passholder rate of $85.50 during the week at Sports the week before Memorial Day. Instead we stayed at CBR while booking with the $75 gift card.

I also got a Passholder rate of $86.40 at POP per weeknight back in November, 2016, the week after Thanksgiving.

Exactly! Most hotels have coffee makers and queen beds as a standard. In fact, I've never been to a hotel that doesn't have at least a queen sized bed unless it is a hostel. Disney is just finally getting with the times, probably because they see that Universal is building more hotels that are way cheaper than theirs are, yet have more modern amenities. I mean, Cabana Bay is the same price and sometimes cheaper than Pop yet it has a lazy river, a bowling alley, a pool, and a hot tub.
