Will Pop Century accomodate 5?

THANKS VERY MUCH!!!
I have already changed/updated to the POR over Christmas, we are actually leaving the 26th - and coming in a day earlier.

My next mission is to find out what days I have left on my tickets from Feb - but they won't help me at Disney - hehe, i'm trying, but no cigar! I like to be prepared and have tickets in hand thru AAA or another means before we go down there :) oh well... I'll have to have patience and wait.

Head over to the Theme Parks Advice & Strategies board. Look for a 'sticky' thread near the top of the forum dedicated to Disney Park Tickets (something like, "Everything You Always Wanted to Know..."). There IS a way to find out your remaining days, and the instructions may be in that thread.

You will like POR very much. I looked through and I don't think anybody really answered this so I will (and if somebody did, I apologize lol).

You can easily fit a twin sized airbed in your POR room. We have done it there and the values. I have a teen boy and girl who cannot share a bed. So bring that along, they always bring us extra bedding for it too. During the day you can prop it up against he wall or shove it under the bed (pretty sure POR beds don't have that platform thing under them).

In fact, you will have room at nigt to set up the airbed for one of the boy, pull out the trundle for your six year old and that way everyone is comfy! You won't have a lot of walking room but it works. I know, I've done it!

Have a great trip, WDW at Christmas is magical and POR decorates the lobby very pretty at the holidays.

Thanks very much ....

Actually no one really did answer that questions... but you just did! :) :cool1:

I'm really looking forward to the POR right now ... I was a tad hesitant.
Now if someone can help the drive from NY to WDW! LOL
:rotfl:

Now that you have made up your mind I want to tell you that I loved the theme at POR. WE stayed at POFQ last year just before Christmas and had dinner at Boatwights. I liked the decorations and the layout of the resort. It is large but seems cozy at the same time. We loved the boatride to DTD, especially at night. I don;t know if the carriage rides are still offered but we saw them clip clopping through POFQ, it looked like fun.

The lounge was nice but you can also head over and enjoy Elliot Dyson at POFQ. All in all, this is a pretty resort and while it is not a "loud" as the theme at POP it is really lovely.

I just thought of this- if you take your DD to see The Princess and the Frog, she will recognize the theming of the resort- POFQ is New Orleans, and POR is more of rural Louisiana, with the plantation houses and the bayou shacks. It's kinda cool to be staying at the resort that looks like the setting of the latest Disney Princess movie!

I have never seen that happen and I highly doubt they would do that.Plenty of people do it and Disney probably doesnt care.

Disney cares, Disney's legal team REALLY cares, and call the fire marshall, he will care too. If caught your 'bending of the rules' could cost disney mega $ in fines. If something horrible/tragic were to happen and it was found they were in violation of fire code and intentionally/knowingly let your party exceed the occupancy limits they would be financially responsible.

Why dont the next time you sneak all your buddies in and not pay you call the front desk and inform them and see what happens.

A bit of advice? I'd make back up reservations somewhere else before you call. :)

Okay, I have an innocent questions (we are a family of 4, so the answer doesn't affect me one way or another)...while checking in at ASMusic on Sunday, 11/29/09, I noticed a sign that said "Rollaway beds, $10 per night" or something.

Why do they offer rollaway beds if the limit is 4 per room? I imagine that it is for a multiple adult situation where the adults don't want to sleep in the same bed or if you have 2 children of different genders who don't want to sleep in the same bed. It still seemed strange - I don't know how a rollaway bed would even fit. And it seems to encourage more than 4 in a room.

Maybe a CM can answer.

For precisely the reason you mentioned....some people don't want to share a bed. Most hotels offer rollaway beds for that reason.

I don't know that offering rollaways encourages people to sneak in unregistered guests, but I do know that the lack of a rollaway wouldn't stop people from doing it. If they're that determined to sneak people in, they'll bring air mattresses, sleeping bags, etc.

There are only a limited number of rollaways at each resort, though.

This is actually not the case. ANY resort will guarantee connecting rooms for families/groups with only 2 adults and more children than will fit into a standard (ie: not a suite) room. The exception is All Star Music. Because of the family suites, Disney won't guarantee connecting rooms.

Another exception are the STANDARD VIEW rooms at Wilderness Lodge. They don't offer connecting standard view rooms at the Wilderness Lodge.

You won't get guaranteed connecting rooms if there are two adults in the party. If you have two adults, you will need to register an adult in each room. Disney will not assume that the two adults will always share a room - they will assume that the adults can split up if needed, so it won't trigger a guarantee for connecting rooms. You can request connecting rooms, and they'll do whatever they can to meet the request, but there won't be a guarantee unless there's only one adult with four minor children - not for two adults with three minors.

The trundle bed at POR is a good size for small kids, but likely not for 17 year old boys.

Hmm .. I've read too many conflicting reports on that to agree (and haven't needed to test it out myself, either)! Even when they type GTD connecting on your confirmation, it's not always guaranteed connecting. I thought the first quote was more accurate - they would only do it if you didn't have 2 adults.

They can say the guarantee it, but there have been reports from posters who had it in writing, but still didn't receive their connecting rooms. True, those cases are rare, but it can happen.

Actually, they won't. There have been (occasional) reports of parties with ONE adult and too many minors for one room not getting connecting rooms. If Disney, or any hotel, can't guarantee connecting rooms for these parties, they definitely can't guarantee connecting rooms for parties where there is an adult for each room. NOT the ideal situation, I know - but it happens.

I've booked more of these kinds of requests than I care to count. None of my clients have ever had a problem with the connecting rooms. I'm not saying it doesn't happen to some guests - all I'm saying is that it can be guaranteed at the time of booking. Just in the same way somebody can have a confirmed reservation for a hotel or even an airline seat - and because of a policy of overbooking, someone gets bumped. For argument sake - let's say there's 20 sets of connecting rooms and Disney books 21. Somebody isn't going to get the connecting rooms.

As I mentioned as well, there are also resorts that simply don't offer the connecting rooms. All Star Music is one of them. They used to, but once the suites were built, they discontinued the guarantee of connecting rooms.

In terms of the situation with one adult and 4 or more kids - in that instance, one of the juniors (children age 10 - 17) would need to be booked as an adult. It wouldn't affect pricing, unless there's insurance. In that instance, the booking agent can go through Guest Services to have the insurance charge removed. I have faced that situation - but I haven't worked with a situation where all the kids are younger than 10. In that case, I would imagine they'd either go through Guest Services to get the pricing modified, or it would be an expense that would just have to be paid.

Just to clarify, ASMu still has connecting rooms. They may not guaranteee them anymore, but I requested and received connecting rooms just this past November and once before after the suites were built.

I'm pretty sure the verbiage on my confirmation still said they were guaranteed connecting rooms for my last trip, but am not sure. As others have noted, that isn't a real guarantee anyway.

In all the times we have requested connecting rooms, only once did we not receive them. I don't remember if they were considered "guaranteed" or not, but we received adjoining rooms instead. When I asked at the lobby at initial check-in, they confirmed they were connecting not just adjoining, but when we go to the room, they were not connecting. I called the lobby and after a few minutes they said they could move us the next day. We left our bags the next morning, went to a park and when we returned we checked into the new rooms.

However, there have been reports that that others were not so fortunate and did not receive the connecting rooms at all, so it is possible, even if not common.
