Will PBK have a back to school sale?

I thought if anyone would know the answer to this - it's someone on this board!! ;)

I wanted to get my twins STURDY backpacks this year and they just had a 4th of July sale w/ free shipping, but only a few backpacks were on sale. In fact, there was only one large Mackenzie style. I really need for them to have different backpacks, or we'll be getting all sorts of confused during the year! So anyways, I ordered the one that was on sale, but I'm debating.... While they currently have free shipping, I can get one at "full price" with a 10% off code by signing up for the emails. OR I can hope that they go on sale again, this time hopefully with additional styles, and hope that they're running free shipping again at that time too. Does anyone know if that's likely? I know they had a BTS sale end of July/early Aug of last year, but I was wondering if that's likely to happen again, or if I should just take advantage of the free shipping now?

Anybody have a clue?? Thanks!! :)

I'm actually looking at LLBean backpacks for my girls. Although, I'm hoping to invest in a sturdy backpack that will last them forever and you can't beat their lifetime warranty. They have some very cute prints, although I'm thinking solid colors with monogrammed initials so that they won't be embarrassed down the road by their "childish" flowerprint backpacks! ;)

Anyhoo, the PBK backpacks are super cute, but you could always get the same backpack but get them monogrammed with their names or initials so that you can tell them apart.

Realizing this wasn't the question, but seconding the vote for LLBean if STURDY is what you want. Not kidding - these REALLY LAST! Regarding their lifetime guarantee: I recently exchanged an item that wasn't functioning properly, and the Customer Service reps were absolutely wonderful.

For practical purposes I got my daughter a Lands End backpack solid color with a matching lunchbox in 2nd grade. She picked the color and she will have it until middle school and then younger sister will get it. We had the cute character stuff for K-1 and then my daughter was done with that. My sister had a Lands End baby backpack for 12 years. With her last child the backpack needed a new zipper. She sent it back and they replaced it with a brand new style which had much more room.

Well I already have the one and I've promised them one of the others, so PBK it is for this year and hopefully next! But I'm glad to hear the reviews of LLBean. I'll remember that for next time!

So nobody knows if I should gamble on waiting for a better sale or if I should just go w/ 10%off and the free shipping they're running now?

I just ordered one of the summer backpacks on clearance for DS (the red and white stripe with navy cording). He is in preschool so I got the small for only $19.99 - I have an embroidery machine but I still paid the extra $7 to add his name.

PB is pretty good about NOT marking down their bookbags until after school starts. I saw a few fairfax girls bags on clearance but I was looking for small for my niece.

garnet-- thanks, that's the kind of info I was wondering about. I'll probably just do the free shipping w/ 10 percent off then. (of course, you know what that means--- they'll go on sale the next week!)

I actually came across the PBK mini backpacks when I was looking for something small my kids could each use on day trips to the aquarium, zoo, etc (and hopefully WDW in two years!). Instead of MOM being the pack mule they could each carry their own spare clothes, snack, and small water bottle. I like the mini's because they don't need LOTS of stuff on those trips and their regular school bags being so big would just encourage them to pack more (and then not want to carry it!). I saw the clearance sale and I'm kicking myself now for not ordering when I saw it because the next day I looked the sale was over :sad2:

I can hold off since I don't need it for the start of school, if the prices drop in August, SOLD! Otherwise I can hopefully get them in September. Someone told me that luggage goes on sale routinely in March and some places consider backpacks luggage where others consider it just school supplies. Who knows with PBK :confused3

I agree with PBK and LL bean having great backpacks. I have gotten both on sale in the past. Another amazing place that has great backpacks is Garnet hill. They are beyond sturdy and last and last. I have 4 kids and they are rough on their backpacks. We made the switch from PBK backpacks to Garnet Hill a few years ago and I haven't looked back. The retail price is expensive but they do go on sale. I have paid just $19 for two of the 4 we have. And they currently have a buy one get a free lunch box deal going on. (Those are obviously not on sale though). Also, not sure where you live, but they have a few outlets and a factory store in Franconia NH that is so worth the drive. THey do have backpacks there and amazing sales. Got my DD a $150 coat there last week for just $16. :thumbsup2
