Will Parking Lot Trams Return?

Any guess on when (or if) trams will return. May seem like a small thing to some, but this is one of my kid's favorite parts of Disney. Being able to start your day off with a trip in the tram is so exciting for them! Also: such a great foot saver when you're parked near the back of the lots. Especially when you're tired at the end of the day.

I have heard on other threads that college students ran the trams. So once that program is up and running (which is soon) I hope they start up again .

One wonders whether the trams will become part of Yesterland TDO surely notices that no one is dying walking to the park and so hey thats a bonus for somebody because they cut a few million from the park budget

The walk is doable at Magic Kingdom when it is the front lots, but if they start using the lots past those it is a pretty long walk. I am assuming it is staffing because Disney is not enforcing any social distancing measures so it is not a public safety issue anymore. MK is the only place we ride the trams usually-maybe Animal Kingdom if you get stuck past Unicorn. It will be very interesting how Disney comes out of this. I am a Disney guy and Universal is just ok-but that place is back to business as usual and I am curious to how that will impact Disney moving forward.

I suspect they will return in the next several weeks. The first wave of DCP participants moves in to housing on 6/14 and they got their role assignments yesterday. There are definitely a bunch of them assigned to "parking". They will have a week or so of corporate training/orientation and then will move to training for their specific roles. So this first "class" should start making an impact on the parks/resorts (regardless of their role) by July. There are new waves of DCP starting pretty much every week during the summer.

There’s only a day or two of corporate training, then usually a week or less of location specific training. There’s only a few roles that take more than a week of training.

There is now way in heck that, I would consider walking from the out lots of the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT Center if they permanently discontinue the tram service. Animal Kingdom and Hollywood studios would also be problematic.

Mind you, I do 10K walks every week. I just do them across a hot parking lot.

We had a brutal walk in October from the out lots of Magic Kingdom. I can't wait for tram service to come back.

It sounds as though there is action happening at Epcot - chains going up between the bars at boarding stations for the trams. Soooo... hopefully we see their return very soon!

I'm seeing more and more DCPs saying they've been assigned to parking so I think it's very likely that trams will be returning sooner rather than later. The DCP kids who check in on 6/15 (the first c/i date of 2021) don't have Traditions until 6/20. They would start role specific training some time after that so they should be making some type of impact by the end of the month (of course they're not *all* going to parking :D).

I didn't word that correctly. I meant it will be about a week after check in until they're through Traditions/corporate training.

I do miss the trams but do not mind the walk so much going in. It's after walking around the park all day and then having to walk another mile back to my car is where it starts to get tiresome.

It's the walk back and 'where is our car ????' Pro Tip photograph the row identifier at the end of your parking row saves sanity at end of day

Disney doesn't want guest traipsing across the North 40 to get to the park, there's some risk there, not to mention the inconvenience to people (especially with children.) I predict it won't be long now...maybe by the first of the month.:)
