Will our AP be linked on our resort magic band?

I am ordering the magic bands for an upcoming trip. We have separate magic band orders pending. One just for our Annual Pass and one for our resort. Do I need both magic bands?

Nothing is actually stored on the MagicBands except for a unique id number. Your MagicBands, along with any room reservations, park admission, dining, FP+ selections, etc. are all linked to your MDE profile. The MagicBand is just a pointer back to your MDE profile. All MagicBands that are assigned to an individual can be used interchangeably (unless flagged as lost or inactive which is a manual process).

As of right now, you get a magic band for every resort stay. Split a stay between 3 resorts, and you will all get 3 magic bands. Now to top it off, they even sell special ones at the parks, Frozen, etc.

You only NEED one. If you are getting multiple, make them a little different Different colors, different printing, etc. I have so many i put my name and the year, or name and resort.

You link your AP to a user in MDE. That user has magic band(s) associated with him or her. That is how the AP's are "put" onto a magic band. (As pointed out, they are not actually put onto the band, just associated with that band's unique id)

But yes, seriously, different colors!

EDIT:
Are you sure you get one for your APs? I just get a confirmation number, and go to MDE and link it. If you do actually get one it breaks down like this:

In your MDE account you have all your family.
Tink'sMom has magic band 1 and magic band 2.

On a disney computer somewhere:

Tink's Mom has an AP
Tink's Mom has a Fast Pass For toy story on thursday
A dinner ressie at Whatever
Tink's mom can open hotel room Wilderness Lodge, Room 7

Now go anywhere, scan magic band one, and it will know all those things. scan magic band 2, it will know all those things. It just tells the scanner that Tink's Mom is scanning her band.

Thanks! I have mb's left over from our last vacation. Would they also have my new reservation linked to them (since they are linked to MDE)? How do you dispose of these things if all our info is on them?

The bands don't contain any information on them but rather access the info in your MDE account. They also cannot be reassigned so if you choose to deactivate them on your account they are not useful to anyone else. Other than in a video game from what I've heard.

Last spring, I think I got 4 sets of Magic Bands. I got one set because we had APs, one because we have DVC, and one for BLT and one for AKV. The one thing that I did wrong, because I lost out on a discount at the Star Wars store at Hollywood Studio, is forgetting to bring the card that they put in the box with the Magic Bands for the annual pass. I have learned to carry my DVC card, a credit card and my driver's license, even though I may not need them, but I didn't even know the card identifying me as a AP holder was in the box until we returned home.

:rotfl: Seriously?

Ayep.

And as time goes on, the old MBs' batteries will run out, so you'll want new. But for now, for those who go often, it's just colors.

I was told by the Tech Support guy the other week that you can call them and tell them you want to opt out of any given set of new MBs, and they'll stop the order. I like having different colors though.

(that said, I do now have one of ever normal color and an extra yellow, but DH and DS don't yet have the set...)

Disney Infinity. Unlocks dragons.

Unless you went in and deactivated them, they'll all work. They link to MDE, and MDE links to hotel, dining, and FP reservations, and your form of admission.

Glitches do happen sometimes, but it's supposed to all be interchangeable.
