separate reservations for the same time? Here's my situation - I can't get a table for 8 so can I reserve two tables of four for the same restaurant for the same time?

Yes, however, when making the reservation, remove yourself from the first one, and put 4 other people on that one. Then go back and make the second reservation under your name.

I believe you will need to do it with two separate accounts. For example, if your husband/wife/ sister/friend who is going along has an account (or they can make one), and connect your family and friends list, then can make one for 4 under each account, with half of your list on each ADR. From my experience, that is the only way I have found to do it anyway.

I had to call and have a CM do this for me a couple of years ago, don't know if it has changed

My daughter was able to book it but I don't see the reservation on my Disney experience so how do we connect the two family accounts?

When we get to the restaurant will we be able to ask to sit together or do I need to call to see if they can put the tables together? Weird there were two tables of four to reserve but I couldn't book a table for eight?

Some restaurants only allow you to book tables of 6 max. I've found this to be the case at Tiffins, so have made 2 reservations for 4 people. One using my MDE and one using my husband's. Since we are doing an early lunch near the time when the restaurant opens I plan to just check in a few minutes early and ask if they can put our tables together or seat us next to each other.

Which restaurant? And what time is your reservation? Some restaurants are set-up where it would be easier for them to put the tables together or seat you near each other than others.

It's not a matter of putting tables together, it's more a matter of the larger tables already being reserved and the smaller ones may be across the restaurant from each other and not near enough to put together, or they're already full when you get there. They might be able to accommodate you, they may not.

I ran into this a few months ago when we had two reservations (one in my MDE for 4, one in my DD's for 2 for the same time) and tried to combine the reservations on the phone. The CM told me they couldn't do it, but I could try and ask at the restaurant. One was for Rose and Crown for Illuminations and the CM told me to stop and ask them early in the day if they could combine them for that evening. They were able to do it, but gave me no guarantees when I asked.

Good luck! It never hurts to ask.

I'd call the reservation line and ask if they can combine it for you in advance. It can't hurt to ask. What time of day is your reservation? If it's the early end of a mealtime (like 11am for lunch, 4pm for dinner, first thing in the am for brekafast) it's probably more likely they can seat you together or near each other. At Tusker House it may be a bit of a challenge depending on when your meal is as breakfast and lunch basically blend together. They don't close between those meals for sure.

If they cant do it over the phone, then I agree you should stop there in the morning and ask them, like mckennarose did at Rose and Crown. I'm pretty sure they assign tables manually and might be able to shift things around for you with enough notice that day. I had success with this at Blue Bayou at Disneyland with a group of 20 people on 3 different reservations.

We did an ADR for a large group using one under my account and one under DH's. We asked to be seated together upon arrival. This was for 1900 Park Fare- they were able to seat us at two tables next to each other which was fine.

1. When we get to the restaurant will we be able to ask to sit together

2. or do I need to call to see if they can put the tables together?

3. Weird there were two tables of four to reserve but I couldn't book a table for eight?
1. When you check in you can request to be seated together, but it is only a request and not guaranteed. It will depend on how busy the restaurant is, how many large groups are already occupying the 8 tops (not too many 8 tops in most restaurants), and how many other large parties have already booked the tables. If you are going when it is busy (e.g. around Christmas or Thanksgiving) it may be more difficult. Even if you can stop by earlier in the day there's no guarantee that they'll be able to fulfill your request.

2. Phone reservation castmembers cannot combine your reservations unless you luckily call at a time when there is a reservation for 8 available in which case you can book the new reservation and cancel the two you currently have. Phone castmembers see the same availability as you do online.

3. You couldn't book a table for 8 because there were no 8 tops available at the time. There aren't many tables that large in the restaurants. You have two separate reservations, each booked for a 4 top table because each of your reservations is for 4 people. Hopefully you will be seated at one table or adjacent tables. Disney restaurants seldom push two tables together because the aisles need to remain clear for characters and servers.

While large parties might be split regardless of whether they have one or two reservations, you have a better chance of being seated altogether if you have just one reservation so keep checking online for cancellations. You can also subscribe to the cancellation thread at the top of the Dining Reservations board. Others have had luck signing up for the Touring Plans reservation finder.
