If this has been asked before, please disregard.

I was reading that the All Star suite furniture is made by the same company that makes the DVC furniture. I especially like the idea of the chair that converts to a twin bed. I think that DVC could easily add this to a one bedroom and increase the occupany from 4 to 5. Does anyone think that this is a possibility?

I really don't know what DVC will do, but I think the idea is a good one. Especially for parents that have opposite sex children that need seperate beds.

Not only will it not be done, I don't believe it can be done due to the occupancies being in the legal documents. They could go through the legal change process, but I don't think they will do it, and frankly since members will have to pay for this I don't think members will support it.

If the furniture has to be replaced due to wear and tear, members pay for it anyhow. We don't have a say in which furniture gets replaced, where or when. So what difference does it make if they choose the convertible chairs or not?

Also, you CAN book five people into a 1 bedroom unit, they just do not provide you with linens, etc. I haven't read the occupancy jargon, but they DO allow you do book five people now.

Oh, I think it is a great idea! We have two girls, so it isn't a problem for us, but for those of you with a boy and a girl, it does seem like it would be hard once they get older.

This would be a nice solution for those situations.

For those of you with a girl and a boy, I hope it happens.

Actually, if they had it, my girls would probably choose to sleep seperately. They love the beds at OKW because it is bigger (queen size) and they have more room. They have twin beds at home, so they aren't use to sharing a full size bed.

I suggest that you DO read the documents before making statements. 5 are currently being permitted by member services, but are not allowed under the legal documents nor is this a binding policy and it could be changed at any time. Providing what amounts to extra sleeping capacity in the unit is very different than letting someone put an extra person on the floor or in an Aerobed that they bring. Furthermore, there is a big difference between the current chairs and a convertible, and I suspect there is a big difference in costs.

I think that would be a nice option at OKW but the other on site resorts don't have enough room now to walk around the open sofa bed, where would you put a twin?

And what exactly in my post is incorrect? I stated that you CAN book five into a one-bedroom, which you can. I also stated that I didn't read the jargon, nor do I plan to, so I don't know the occupancy codes.

I think somebody needs to relax...Clearly you don't see this as a good idea, yeah, we got your point.

They might allow for this in a new project (and I think it's a good idea), but I doubt they'll change the current resorts.

I don't know if any of you have ever slept on one of these chair-beds, but unless you get one of the high-end (read: expensive) models, they aren't great to sleep on. We'd be seeing the "sofa debate" all over again. This is what I thought of when I saw the chairs in the ASMo suite pictures. They do NOT look like comfortable units.

I agree with Doctor P.

Another issue is space. The only on-site DVC resort with room for a convertable chair if OKW, where such a chair could replace the chair in the corner. At the other on-site DVC resorts, there wouldn't be any room to open a covertable chair in the living room when the convertable sofa is open.

Hey Alexander, no worries. Just ignore it. Maybe someone just didn't get their cup of coffee this morning

Actually, I'm suggesting it wouldn't be ALLOWED. If you are an owner, you should be ashamed that you have not read the legal documents that accompany your ownership. That is a basic part of making a major purchase. If you are not an owner, then, IMHO, then I would suggest respectfully that you have no business commenting on occupancy. Remember, the issue in this thread is one that deals with legal issues and declarations, not just preferences or accomodating practices that have no legal force.

I've never slept on one. Actually, I never even new they existed until talk of the All Star Suites came up. I don't think DVC should or would increase occupancy, but it would be nice to at least have something extra even if its just an "egg crate" in the closet. I don't have any children but I know it would be a welcome site to parents of a boy and a girl to have some sort of arrangement for seperate sleeping areas without having to book a 2 bedroom. I really don't think they'll ever do that, but the thought is nice.

Goodness! I just don't like nasty comments. Anyway, it is just something fun to think about or consider. I read the contract and I believe, I will check, that there is a clause that they can make changes to the contract.

Yes, they can make changes, but they cannot be material or prejudice an ownership interest. Changes in occupancy limits would do both, I believe.

Nor do I think they could replace the pul out sofa with a bed, or replce the king beds with 2 full size, etc. It would make changes to the basic use of what we purchased and I think, under FL law, they can't do that without permissoin/vote of the membership at each resort. They can adjust the point charts, as that was stated in the contracts, but substantially changing the purpose.function of furnishing I don't think would be allowed. Not that I think it is a bad idea to add the sleeper chair, I just don't think they can tie it to an increase in official occupancy.

I fully agree. That was the point I was trying to make, but Chuck did so much more eloquently. And I also don't think they could get around the problem by just putting the chairs in there as they are functionally intended and sold as a sleeping apparatus.
