We've got ADR's for Hollywood & Vine for Fantasmic and don't know of anyone who's gone to Fantasmic so I thought I'd search here. Is it really loud? Are there characters? TIA

My DS's first trip was when he was 4 & he loved Fantasmic. But he also wore ear plugs, he wore them at most things not just Fantasmic.

Never thought about ear plugs, I think that is a wonderful idea. DS seems to be "sensative" to loud noises when he's tired. Any other loud attractions that I should know about? This is our first trip. Thank you.

DS was 5 the first time he saw it, he loved it while watching it, then immediately forgot about it... Its the age... So he was totally impressed when he saw it at 10, (forgot most of it again), and really impressed this last time... He was 12! I am hoping he remembers it this time:rotfl2:!

FYI - not too many loud noises, but use plugs if noises bother him. Also, its dark.. So if this is a problem, buy him a small inexpensive flashlight to carry for himself.. Remember to teach flashlight manners:confused3 we forgot the first time:rotfl:.

Fantasmic is an amazing show, but way too intense for our youngest 2. They are 2 (almost 3)and 6, and extremely sensitive to loud noises and the dark. I ended up taking them out of the show while DH stayed with the oldest 2. My heart was breaking because they were terrified. Hope this helps!

It is very scary in sections. There are parts with a large snake, a dragon, and it is very loud as well. Depends on the child how upsetting that would be for them.

Well i think fantasmic is pretty amazing! I saw it for the second time in March, so i remember it pretty well. Its not really that loud or scary.. but then again im not a little kid..
:)

We just went with our 2 yr old and she loved it. We sat towards the back so don't know if that made a difference or not. She did get scared on Snow White's Scary Adventures but not at Fantasmic. When we saw the dragon we said "ooh, look, Mickey's going to come save us now, hooray" before she got a chance to get scared. We all loved it and at the end she wanted more.

Does your 4yo like fireworks? If they do you're over one hurdle. If not don't take them.

There are indeed scary scenes and cool stuff. Go with your gut on judging that stuff.

Our 5yo sat on my lap and insisted that I hold him durig certain scary parts.

He refused to see the fireworks at the P&P party, so he and Grandma kept riding Peter Pan while I went to see the show. They hid in a restroom during Wishes one night, but he next night he asked to go back and he watched the entire show w/o incident. We went to Fantasmic a couple of nights later. From that point on he was quick to point out when he saw a "Fantasmic" Mickey, so he definitely paid a attention to the show and remembered some things.

I would suggest sitting at the top of the stadium (you can see everything just fine from any seat.) And if you have Fantasmic dinner package, the "reserved" section is on the right side as you face the stage, which is nice because that is also where there is a quick exit when it's time to leave...if you're sitting top-right you'll be out of there way ahead of the crowds. Also convenient if you have to leave early because he's not enjoying it. And sitting at the top, the show's not so in-your-face to the little ones and the noise/brightness level will be reduced a little. Keep in mind if you sit down close to the stage, there's not just more noise & closer scary stuff, but also water spray to deal with which is not fun if it's a cool night.

Be prepared to hold him if he get scared (looked to me like about 1/2 of the 2-6 year olds end up on parents' lap.) And also be prepared to buy him a whirling/twirling light-up toy...just about every kid in the place had one last week!

We took my niece for the first time to Fantasmic when she was five. I thought she would hate it because she didn't really like fireworks because of the loud noise (there was a total of 9 of us so I didn't want everyone else to miss out on it because of one person).

I explained to her exactly what was going to happen, sat on the edge of the aisle with her on my lap and told her at any point if she wanted to leave we would wait for everyone outside. She ended up LOVING it. It is very loud but at certain points she just had me cover her ears.

My suggestion would be to find it on youtube and watch it, and see what you think.

My boys were 6 & 4 last year on our trip, and the 6-yo tolerated it with Dh, but the 4-yo was terrified. I took him out before the "scary" stuff even started. We're taking earplugs this year as someone else suggested, and not just for Fantasmic.

I've seen other small children watching the show just fine, so it's really ahrd to say.

Totally agree. My 3 and 5 year old are generally scared of their own shadows but for some reason have no problem sitting through this show. They really like it despite the fact it is quite loud in parts and pretty scary for a few minutes in the middle. I've seen plenty of parenty ushering small children out during the scary parts. Very tough call. Don't feel embarrassed if your kid freaks. I see kids lose it every time. The majority seem to handle it ok.

My DD was3 when she saw it and does not like loud noises. She was scared at times and seemed more upset about potentially getting wet (I think if you sit up close you have a chance of getting sprayed). Most of the shows we saw were loud. Mickey's Philharmonic at MK was great but Its a Bugs Life at AK and Honey I Shrunk the Kids at Epcot were just too loud if your child does not like loud noises. On the bright side she is 5 now and we are going back in November and she wants to see Fantasmic again. :)

I know that my kids are concerned about the show for my young grandchildren (3, 4 & 5 when we go). I went over and stood in the back earlier this month just to see when the "scary" part started. It's 15 minutes in. I'd suggest not sitting way down front if you're concerned.

My one year old LOVED it and we were about the fifth row back. He was actually 1.5 then. :goodvibes
