Curious if there's a thread already started on this? I'm not there, but my DD and her BFF are. They aren't at MK, but were wondering how they would know if MK closes due to capacity. I'm not sure if it will be on the MDE app. Told them I'd try to keep a heads up.

Not sure why it would close today? the day before an American three day weekend sure but most Northern schools are still in session the the schools in the Atlanta area just closed yesterday.

And if the parks are closed, there are tons of notice on the drive in. I've seen only the Magic Kingdom closed and lots and lots of signs up on World Drive. When that happens, guests just go to another park. Disney World VERY rarely will close all four parks due to capacity.

I didn't know if there was a possibility of it closing due to the 24 hour event there today.

Today is the 24 hr party at the Magic kingdom. It's a pretty big deal. I'll be surprised if they don't close due to capacity.

There is a live feed from the railroad station area of Main St. It doesn't look any busier than any other summer day right now, to me.

That is because everyone in line for Elsa and Anna and the SDMT ;)

I hope not! I'm here now and it really isn't that busy. Busier than I like it, sure -- I usually come during the dead of winter when no one is here. But it really isn't unbelievably crowded. I've heard it gets really bad in the evening around Wishes for this event.

I am hoping it doesn't close because I've been here since open and I am ready for a nap, lol. Want to go back to the hotel but will hold off if it might close later tonight. :(

Asked on our way out at 1am and CM said that guest relations doesn't think it'll hit capacity today.

Last year I think the parking lot filled to capacity, but I don't think the park ever actually closed.
Who knows what will happen this year though.

I think after the work day is done a lot of locals will be heading over. I'm trying to decide if I'll be one of them or not.

I've heard that the evening can get pretty crowded because of locals, as the PP mentioned. But then around 12-1am or so, it starts to let up

Just checked the camera - the parade has started and there is a lot of empty space in the flag pole area, not many people there to view it. We don't usually watch parades - is this not a good spot to view it? Certainly doesn't look very crowded now.

I don't think it did either last year, or the year before for the Leap Day. I went to Leap Day, it was bananas-insane during most of the evening, but IIRC it never closed.

i dont think it will close id say this is probably not really the biggest travel weekend most school have another 2 or so weeks until school gets out and that when it really starts to pick up

I was there this morning, rides (except for Mine Train) we're walk-on. The crowds were great until just before noon, then people really started to stream into the park. Things are expected to hit their peak (crowd-wise) between dinner and the fireworks. One blogger I talked to said Disney was expecting between 95K and 100K people.

Got there at 6:15 and everything except mine train and the Frozen princesses was walk on until 8am or so. Left at 11:30am and headed back for naps. Back at 9:15 and it stayed pretty crowded until 1am or so. After 2am it thinned out pretty good.

In the am we saw so many well done costumes. Big local event.
