Will I need a rental car?

I am thinking about flying to MCO from DAY in February. I have never flown before so I have lots of questions but the one question that comes to mind right away is... will I need to have a rental car when I arrive? I only plan on staying for a couple of days and there will be transportation to and from the Disney parks.

Are you staying at a Disney Resort or an off-site hotel. To me, that makes a huge difference. If it is off-site, rent a car for sure.

If you are staying at one of the WDW resorts owned by Disney (i.e. one of the resorts serviced by ME), then you will not need a rental car as long as you are staying on Disney property. The only time that I rent a car is when I also plan to visit Universal and/or Sea World. For my trip in October, I will not be renting a car since I will only be going to the WDW parks.

Like others have stated, rental car is a must for off-site stays. As far as using ME and the Disney Transportation, that is really a personal prefrence. I usually rent a car regardless of staying on or offsite, just because the Disney transportation system is often pretty slow when hopping between resorts....I also suggest a car for those with young children, as quick trips back to the hotel during the day is something you can do easily with a car...

Actually we were going to stay off site and not rent a car. What made up my mind was I wanted to return to our hotel in the afternoon and the transport only ran 4 busses in the am and three in the pm. I figured coming back at night I could always catch a cab,(staying at one of the downtown off grounds resorts) I think if you intend to stay at the park all day and transportation is provided you can get by, question is do you want to get by. Call the hotel where you plan to stay and ask about their transportation.
