Will I lose dining plan?

I’m booked for free dining at the end of August. If I change my resort will I lose free dining?

Most likely yes as the new resort will not have FD available anymore. You can always try the next level phone CM though.

If you had tried to change resorts while the promotion was still available to book, you might have been able to keep it. Since the promotion has ended, it's highly unlikely you'll be able to do so.

As others mentioned, the free dining promo is over so yes you would lose the "Free" aspect of your dining plan. You could absolutely book a room at another resort under the current room discount, and then pay for the dining plan to be added. Might want to crunch the numbers and see if it would work out in your favor, especially if you think you can get away with non-park hopper tickets (parkhoppers were required under the free dining promo).

While new bookings cannot be made for expired promotions, you can see if there is availability for your promotion at a different resort and room category of your choosing. All promo rooms may be booked up; but—if you are flexible—you may be able to rebook with free dining. All the existing rules apply (dates, resorts, tickets, etc.). As previous posters stated, another current promotion may be as good of a deal. Last fall, I was even able to check my Christmas free dining reservation for alternatives online through the modify button. I never changed it, but I consistently saw availability for a 12/22 arrival. Since my current reservation is a bounce back, I cannot check myself online. I did successfully change my package on the bounce back phone line weeks after I returned home.

Oh ok, I didn’t realize that. So if there happens to be an open room somewhere it may work, but likely probably not.

Youd be better off calling. Though Im not positive about the main reservation system used by the Disney Travel Co, I am a TA with access to a Disney reservation system (no idea if its the same exact one DTC uses) and there is no way to check availability for the free dining promo. I just checked for my own reservation, booked for free dining in Aug, and it only showed me current promos and availability if I were to modify the resort portion of my trip.
