I don't like roller coasters and can't do Rockin Roller Coaster and it makes me sick to my stomach. However i do love rides and can handle Tower of Terror and others. Will I be able to ride Soarin or is it going to make me ill? I chickend out last time but now that my kids are going with me I would love to be able to go on this with them.

I got queasy on TOT and not RNR, but Soarin' is fine for me. I'd say try it once, you'll never know until you try.

How do you do on motion simulators? They are a bit closer to the Soarin' experience, though it is nowhere near as 'rough' or as disorienting. It's a smooth, gentle ride, very peaceful and not at all jarring in any way.

My mother (who feels sick at the movie theaters, for goodness sake) only found one part of it to be a bit dizzying, but she loved the rest of it. She closed her eyes during the part that made her head a bit spinny and had no ill effects afterwards. It's her favorite ride now.

I wouldn't think it would bother you, but it's one of those things you won't know until you try it. Why not take a low-drowsy Dramamine just in case? That ends the worry and you can enjoy without hesitation. :)

My daughter is 13 and is very prone to motion sickness, but she loves Soarin' and didn't find it made her queasy in the least.

I felt a little "off" when I got done with Soarin. I loved it, and I would do it again, but I really did feel a little ill after we got done. I don't get sick on RnR or ToT or Star Tours, but Sorin did make me quesy.

Like I said...I loved it and I would do it again...but it really did make me a little sick...

I also get queezy on rides. It did not bother me the first two times, but did the third time. I would give it a shot--it is a great ride.

Thanks everyone. Star Tours is one ride I won't even go near!! I'll go ahead and give it a try this weekend and if I have to I'll close my eyes at some of the parts. I don't mind heights and can deal with that so hopefully I'll enjoy this.

I usually don't get sick on rides, but *do* get very carsick very easily. I felt kind of queasy during and immediately after Soarin, but it wasn't too bad and didn't last too long.

Just a little more input: Soarin is not a 360 degree panorama. I used to get motion sickness and/or vertigo in the 360 deals. Soarin is a totally different experience. On Soarin, you're just really close to a flat screen so that it takes up most of your peripheral vision. I can't speak for the actual motion part. That doesn't affect me, but I know it affects others. I wouldn't miss Soarin, but you'll probably need a FastPass. It had the longest wait times of any ride I saw on my 7 days in the park.

My DH gets motion sick easily.

He loves Soarin'.

Our last trip in January it was so crowded that we never could snag fastpasses, even on EMH night. We tried several times, but didn't want to wait an hour(in line that is)

Get there at opening and hurry right to Soarin' if you really want to ride. Grab a fastpass and then get right in line.

I am very susceptible to motion sickness, so I know how you feel. I cannot do Star Tours, rollercoasters, etc. But a couple of weeks ago I got brave and decided to try Soarin' (it was early and there was no line to speak of). I sat in an end seat so I could turn away and look at the wall when the swooping visuals got too much. The seat moves only a little, and the wall, not at all!

Take some Bonine or Dramamine and enjoy.

One slight correction: it is not a flat screen, it is a curved IMAX screen, installed so it curves around and under you as you hover over it, instead of around and above like a traditional IMAX theater.

I think the action on Soarin' is more like a Ferris Wheel. I have problems with rides and it didn't bother me.

I get EXTREMEMLY motion sick on EVERYTHING, but Soarin didn't bother me at all - as a matter of fact, I kept going back on. If possible, ask to sit in the 3rd row - between the feet above you, and the floor below, you get a better sense of the fact that you're not really moving much, just the scenery is. PLEASE give it a try - I think you'll be pleasantly suprised.

Thanks. I hate that I get so motion sick on everthing, especially cars. I'll make sure and ask for the 3rd row if possible.

Thanks again everyone!

Here's another one who can't do RNR or TOT, because they get queasy, but he has no problem with Soarin'.

I have a really touchy stomach, but Soarin' doesn't bother me. Well, the part set in LA did, but that could have something to do with the fact that LA is one of my least favorite places. . .
I've got some motion sickness bands for my wrists that I wear on rides. They really help and it means I can join my friends on BTM and SM.

I can't do "spinny" rides at all, or even tackle the ones that don't spin, but are jerky in motion (i.e. Dinosaur at AK, Star Tours, etc.). As the Carsick Queen, I can get sick driving myself five minutes to the mall and once even got motion sick on Peter Pan's Flight because of the way the ship was moving back and forth (pathetic, I know). I got incredibly motion sick from the driving simulators at the end of Test Track. I was so sick, it ruined the rest of my night and I was out of commisson until the next morning.

However, I didn't feel the least bit sick on Soarin'. Granted, I rode it first thing in the morning, before I had eaten anything, just in case I'd misjudged the ride and would end up sick. A couple things that help with Soarin' is that it's very smooth and the rush of air against your face is invigorating. It kept me from feeling closed up in a stuffy place, plus I was so distracted with the scenery and smells, I didn't have time to think, "I hope I don't get nauseous."

As with any ride that I normally love (ToT, Space Mtn, R&R Coaster), I will get queasy on those if I ride them more than twice in a row. Two back-to-back rides is my threshold. It would probably be the same for Soarin', but I'd definitely try it once, even if you have to take 1/2 a non-drowsy Dramamine an hour or so ahead of time to make you feel more comfortable. It's a ride NOT to be missed!!
