So being a bit weight challenged.....I was wondering if there are many rides that I should pass on for fear the safety bar won't latch. Not that that has ever happened to me before at an amusement park

69 days to go!!!!!!!!!!

I don't do thrill rides, so I don't know about them, but someone else will. The only thing I have a slight problem with is the teacups, and it is more a leg room thing than size.

See HERE for some other info.

I think all the safety bars are designed to adjust to any size.

You will have no problems with any of the rides in WDW as far as I know. My DH is a big guy and he's never had any problems. We are going over to US & IOA next week too and are worried that he will not make it onto one of the rides in WWOHP but he's going to try!

You don't have to worry at WDW. Their thrill rides aren't so extreme as to need the tighter, more elaborate, or more restrictive restraint systems that don't allow larger people to ride certain attractions at parks like Cedar Point, Universal, and Six Flags.

DH is 6'4", 270 lbs., super long legs, loves thrill rides and hasn't had a problem ever at WDW.

Some of the rides used to (I say used to because I'm not 100%) have dummy seats for people to try and see if they fit. Ask the CM at the line if you can have a look at the seats first.

I think you will be fine. Usually disney has it setup for everyone to have a good time! I have seen some parks where the elaborate safety restraints dont really fit a lot of people. These are on rides that travel at very speeds like 100mph.

Have fun and dont be afraid to ask a CM anything!

Happy Disney Worlding!!!

I'm 6'7" and 360lbs and didn't have any trouble with any rides at WDW, but I cannot say the same thing for US/IOA. The only rides I could do at US were the Simpsons and Men in Black. I couldn't ride any coasters there at all. The only thing I was able to IOA was Spiderman and Flight of the Hippogriff. No Harry Potter, no Dragon Challenge, no Hulk. I was either too tall and/or too broad. I'm at the extreme end of the scale, so hopefully your husband won't run to the same trouble I did.

He's not as big as you but still pretty large. I think chest and waist size are going to give him trouble. He knows it might be a problem and has a good attitude about it. I heard they've modified some of the seats on Dragon Challenge recently so are hoping those will accommodate him.

We haven't done the make your own rollercoaster thing at Epcot, but we did do one at DisneyQuest a few years ago. Dh got in ok, but it was the harness that wouldn't go down. The CM said it happened a lot with people who have broad shoulders, which I thought was a tactful comment instead of saying "you're too big" or something. But other than that, no issues besides a few turnstiles being awkward to get thru (not impossible though).
