Will I feel over dressed?

And here I am hoping we aren't too under dressed! We did the formal thing on our last cruise, have the the pictures and don't feel the need to recreate it this trip. My husband will have dress slacks and shoes and a button down but only because we are dining at Palo one evening. I will wear a maxi dress probably. I'm not taking any dress up clothes for my son. One because we don't dress up at home and I really don't want to have to purchase shoes and pants he will wear exactly one time and two because I don't want to waste precious luggage room to pack them. So he will be dining with us in shorts and maybe a polo shirt if I get really ambitious. I do remember a lot dressed up on our last cruise so I think you will be just fine. I see a lot of comments on these type of posts about people wishing the policy would go back to being a little more formal but I dress up every day at work and I don't want to have to do it on vacation. It makes me think I am still at work and I can't truly relax. Have a great trip!

Definitely keep the gown and do what makes you happy! We tend toward the casual side and on our Fantasy cruise two weeks ago I wore a cocktail dress, DH dress shirts and slacks and our boys jeans and polos (with flip flops because they don't own dress shoes). There were plenty of people in suits/dresses, a few in tuxes and a a few in shorts. I love seeing the fancy dresses and don't think anyone is out of place due to the wide variety.

You are never too old to dress how you feel comfortable.
DW and I dress up every night of our cruises for ourselves and we have gotten many positive responses including:
I wish I had brought my prom, bridesmaid, etc gown.
I wish I had thought to dress up a little as I do not get to do so at home.
You two look so good all dolled up, I think it is nice.

How long is your cruise? I didn't see that, but may have missed it.

For short cruises I rarely see people very dressed up. There are exceptions though. You do you!

Your choice sounds lovely. Definitely keep your gown and wear it with pride! I'll be joining you on a Med cruise in July when I have a brand new dressy gown for formal night. I love looking at everyone suited and booted!

You will look fantastic in your gown with your handsome DH. We enjoy dressing up on formal night too.
I get a kick watching others in line waiting to enter the dining room. There is always at one female punching the guy saying "why didn't you tell me it was formal night".

Love to dress up on formal night....we seldom get to those type functions in everyday life and dressing up makes the trip special. Your dress sounds a bit like my MOB dress...I may pull it back out for next cruise!

After reading another thread, it sounds like less people are dressing up for formal night. Will DH and I feel over dressed if we wear formal wear on formal night. It doesn't bother me if others choose not to but if we are pretty much the only ones, maybe I should return the dress.

If it makes a difference, we have early seating and I don't want late seating. DH plans to wear a suit and tie and I have a floor length sheath dress with a sequin pattern over the entire dress in navy blue.

Yes some people dress up some people don’t. It just depends on their person. I say when it comes to dressing up do what you want to do that makes you feel happy. This was my formal night on the first Alaska cruise last week. I wore long sleeve Hawaiian dress shirt with blue jeans and wife wore a black dress

I can only speak for myself but I have not once noticed what others were wearing. Wear as you please and enjoy yourself. It is always nice to dress up for dinner. Have fun!
