I have been searching for montha and months for a rental of a mini van out tof Tampa, Aug 18th to Setp 1st. Rates have always been $800 to $1200. The cheapest I could find was Budget using the Travelocity Code X474200 and that rate was $650.00.

Today, someone was kind enough to post a option of taking a quick cab ride over to Clearwater airport, renting the minivan and dropping off at Tampa at the end of the trip, using Enterprise. I called a few taxi places and the rate is about $45.

No codes, no coupons. The rate for this scenerio with all taxes and stuff comes to $187.29. The rate is too good to be true. I called Enterprise and gave my dates just to check and sure enough, the rate was the same over the phone.

I am just nervous that it's a fluke and the system is making a mistake and I will get there and have a problem. Of you have a confirmation and no questionable codes or copouns or invovled, can they dispute your rate at the counter? Or am I being nervous for nothing?

Just make sure your rate includes all airport taxes, but it sounds legit. For whatever reason the rentals at Tampa are sky high. Rates certainly arent' that high at MCO. Also make sure you know what the insurance add ons are. I typically rent with an American Express which has coverange, plus my personal car insurance has coverage so I decline the extra insurance - but do what makes sense for you. Glad you found a decent rate! BTW, one year I got a rate of under $10 per day including taxes, which seemed insane but that was the rate. I also checked in using a kiosk - so it was no hassle! Also some Customer Reps try to upsell you at the counter - just be aware.
