Will I be Herding Cats Again?* **** COMPLETED *****

Day 2 - Epcot
Part 7 - Wicked Weather!

As everyone snoozed in their various locations, I managed to stay awake long enough to not allow the children to drown! :scared: Sorry, I didn't snap any pictures of the kids swimming as I was too tired to barely lift my Diet Coke up to my lips, much less worry about getting out my camera! My eyes were so heavy!

Eventually (thank goodness) the kids wanted out of the pool, and were asking for a snack. (Katie was still sleeping on the couch)!

Low and behold...we have groceries! Yay! I fueled them up with some food and sent them up to wake up Shawn. He didn't budge, but in a few minutes I heard him stirring. Everyone was ready to go about 5:30, but we had to stop at a convenience store to get my Mom some soap! Huh, you ask?

Apparently, she had forgotten to bring some and just wasn't "digging" the little tiny hotel-like soap at the house!

Oh..and we also forgot to order (or bring from home) coffee filters. We had managed to think enough to bring filter packs for the coffee for our first morning before the grocery delivery, but had failed to remember filters for the coffee for the rest of the week.

We loaded into the minivan, left the house, and found our way to the mini-mart where Shawn jumped out and ran in to get the two odd and totally unrelated items...I'm sure to some very strange looks!

We made it back to Epcot a little after 6:00 I think. We had planned on riding Soarin and Test Track with our fastpasses, before heading to the Food & Wine Festival, but that was before the big sleep-fest back at the house made us a little later than what I originally intended. :rolleyes1 Plus, Shawn, MIL, Michael and step-dad were convinced that they needed to go on Mission Space- the Orange Version, as they all thought they could handle it.
Um...ok?

As we entered the park around 6:15, we saw a photopasss photographer standing there and put her to work.

First our family - and yes, when Emily got out of the pool she didn't want to put her Minnie Mouse outfit back on...would have looked better without the clashing pink with the red of the other two, but oh well...whattayagonnado?

Our first stop after that was the new Spaceship Earth. 0 minutes waiting time was posted...okey dokey. Let's go troops!

(one of my favorite pics)

Michael and I rode together, my mom rode with Emily, MIL rode with Katie, and Shawn and Pop Pop rode together.

DSC_0103.jpg

I really enjoyed the ride - I hadn't been on it since I was 13 or so. Michael really loved all of the history and we all thought the animatronics were really impressive! I wasn't able to get to our funny pics out on the jumbotron outside the ride in time to take a picture, so I tried to find them on the computer to email them to ourselves, but couldn't find them there either. Anyways, the kids got quite a kick out of seeing themselves in the "future". Emily did the fashion selection (I’m not sure what that looked like) and Michael and I were scuba divers!

We played around inside on some of the games for a little while and then headed out with plans to split up for a while so that they could go ride the “Vomit Mission To Space” and Mom and I could head over to the Food & Wine Festival. But when we exited Spaceship Earth, it was as if a tornado was coming through. The wind was crazy! :scared1: We decided we needed to get over to the World Showcase so we could be near some places for cover (well...places with food and wine preferably...) And we needed to do it fairly fast.

We left Shawn, Pop Pop, Grammy, and Michael with plans to meet up in France in a little while, right near the GGLCS stand! I was determined that on this trip I was going to enjoy one of those drinks (last time I was trying to enjoy one while talking to/disciplining/ a 3 year old and dealing with a grumpy 6 year old)! Let’s just say, I didn’t exactly savor every last drop of the drink – more like gulped it down so I could ditch the cup and get on with the parental joys I was getting the pleasure of dealing with at the time. :sad2:

Mom and I took the two girls in the stroller and thought we should head over there pretty quick as the skies were getting darker and darker.

(really bad pic taken by yours truly)

We had looked over the menus before leaving the house and knew we wanted to try a frozen mojito from the Puerto Rico stand, but had failed to get a map showing where the various kiosks were. In our infinite wisdom, we figured it was probably near the Mexico pavillion. However, we decided that the shops to the right side of the WS were going to be more interesting for the kids, and considering the weather, we figured it was probably best to go the way that would be more entertaining for them. Plus, France was where we were meeting the guys and it looked to be slightly less of a walk to go to the right. To the right we went!

Well, low and behold....Puerto Rico! First one! Go figure - wasn't near Mexico at all! Woo-hoo! We snagged two frozen mojitos. Oh my goodness - that was some serious deliciousness! Very refreshing! The girls were hungry, so we stopped somewhere and got them some popcorn. Then we made our way to the Canadian booth and enjoyed some delicious cheddar cheese soup! Really good! It was right about now that the rain started.

A nice gentle drizzle with a nice little breeze....not too bad.

Then bigger, fatter drops....
and heavier gusts of wind....
and faster falling rain...
and quicker steps....

We managed to get over to the UK and duck into the toy shop to look around. We wandered around for a while and my mom bought a couple of things and I saw a photopass CM standing over to the side behind the ropes. On one side, I saw the little set-up that looked like it was for Mary Poppins, and on the other side I saw an area that that looked like it was set-up for Pooh and Friends. So I asked the guy if anyone was getting ready to come out. Yes, he said...Winnie the Pooh and Friends. Oh, ok...great!

I would have preferred Poppins seeing as how we had a CP reservation and I knew we would be seeing the Hundred Acre Wood group at that meal, but hey...it was raining, I was first in line, might as well get in some extra time with the characters!

When we left the UK, I just took a few moments to look around at the beautiful park. It is so beautiful at night. Everything just takes on a different feel, you know? It’s just simply stunning.

The girls were still chomping down on their popcorn and were getting quite silly. I took some more pics of them while we waited for my mom to finish up her shopping.

Then we were off to France. The rain had stopped at this point (my hair was grateful, although the damage was mostly done anyway...) and we stopped to get a nighttime pic in front of the Eiffel Tower. As we were waiting for the group in front of us to finish with the photographer, it started to rain again. Ok, snap the pic...let's get moving....I could see the GGLCS stand just over the bridge...it was calling to me!

Up next....Will I obtain my coveted GGLCS? And how 'bout those Illuminations? Hmm....

Sara

That dang GGLCS! You'll have to wait and see....I think I'm cursed though...:rolleyes1

Woo-hoo Monica! :yay: Same day posting! I'm so flattered!

I liked the new borders too - especially the F&W one - I could really cover myself up with that one (usually)!

Well, technically Michael and Emily didn't nap either, but yes...all the other ADULTS did nap!

Grey Goose Lemon Citron Slushie (I think it's actually Grey Goose LeCitron Vodka) - vodka with a light zest of lemons! I do hope to enjoy one (or 2, 3,) in a couple weeks! I might even try the orange one - supposed to taste like an orange dreamsicle! Of course, if it's cold out, I might have to stop at one and then drink hot chocolate or cider the rest of the night to warm up! :cold:

I am :rotfl2: about the tying your shoe thing! It's gonna be great! But I thought I would be pushing you and Michelle around in the double stroller? :lmao:

Isn't that funny about the shirts. Michelle posted pics of Sam in AK wearing a shirt that Emily has! Stay tuned about the slushie! popcorn::

Love the ball photos, so cute and your girls made me laugh with the popcorn photos :rotfl:

Day 2 – Epcot
Part 8 – The Curse of the GGLCS!

When I left off, our thrill ride group was headed towards France after riding Mission Space, the orange version and, according to them, they all loved it. :crazy2:

Mom and I were damp from the rain, but weren’t totally soaked and we were headed over the bridge and into France. Here is where we decided to divide and conquer. Mom took the stroller and went over to the crepes station and I went to get in line for our treasured GGLCS. As I was waiting in line, the rain started falling harder and harder. :headache: Luckily for me, I was able to squeeze under the awning while I waited for our drinks and avoid getting too wet. Then after the coveted drinks were obtained, I made it over to the kiosk next door where Mom was waiting on the crepe (she was getting strawberry….ugh…I would have picked chocolate…but strawberry was fine). I huddled under that kiosk with her and the stroller, and then we looked for somewhere to run and hide to try and eat our crepe and enjoy our drink.

Um, there wasn’t anywhere.

We turned to the side of the kiosk, as others were in line to get crepes, and saw the trash can. Yes – we ate our crepe and drank our drink standing around a trash can! :guilty: Lovely, huh? I swear I am not meant to enjoy or savor these drinks!!!

The girls were ready for their ponchos as were we, so we broke those out and tried to make room for more people who (as crappy as our spots were) wanted in where we were to get out of the downpour.

There was this one lady who was pushing one of those gigantic baby carrier/stroller thingamabobs with what looked to be a NEWBORN baby in it! Whoa lady! She was trying to keep her covered from the rain (and the cooler temps) but she was still getting damp. I moved over even closer to the trash can in hopes to free up some more room for her and the baby. I broke out the glow sticks at this point to help pass the time and eventually Shawn and the others met up with us. They had to stop and buy ponchos since Mom and I were carrying the bag with ALL the ponchos we brought from home! LOL! Oops!

Here's Mom...aka...the Gorton Fisherman:

PA090089.jpg

And Katie:
PA090088.jpg

So, they all said they loved the ride, but ironically none of them were that hungry for food. Uh-huh? :scratchin Hmmm…Too macho to say it might have been too much for your tummies, huh?

PA090092.jpg

I knew all the restaurants would be booked solid for eating (I had not made a dinner ADR for this night, as I figured we would just eat around the world), so Shawn went on the hunt for some CS places nearby. We thought about walking down to America and eating there, but decided to just stay near where we were instead. So, off to the French CS place...The Boulangerie Patisserie! It was a wee bit crowded, but we managed to squeeze into the line with all the other wet park people and drool over the food.

Emily just wanted strawberries, so I got her this fruit tart that had gobs of strawberries on top and Michael and Katie only wanted cheesecake. Shawn, Mom, Step-dad, and I all got the Ham and Cheese Croissant, and my MIL got the Ham and Cheese Quiche. At one point my mom had to work herself out of the line against the crowd to take Katie to the bathroom. Fun!

After we paid, we looked for seating inside the store right there (they have tables and things set up for eating even though it is technically IN the store…) but alas, they were all taken. Go figure!!

At this point the rain had stopped, so we took our trays, kids, stroller, etc, etc, and found two tables outside to sit down (well some of us sat down, others stood, as there wasn’t quite enough seats for all 8 of us). The tables and chairs were all wet, but hey…so were we! Everyone loved their food - the ham and cheese croissant was terrific!

By the time we left from the France pavilion, we had about 20 minutes before Illuminations. We found an area right near Morocco and stayed put. There weren’t any seats, but we had a railing to lean our backsides onto, so it worked.

PA090094.jpg

DSC_0147.jpg

Mom disappeared with my step-dad and returned with more GGLCS for four of us! Thanks Mom. Ironically, I had just started talking to Shawn about how I must be cursed with the slushies, because I am never able to enjoy them!

So, Mom hands it over to me and ……it starts raining again! Drat! Drat! Drat! I am telling you, I am cursed! :guilty:

Well, I still enjoyed the drink…even if it was watered down with raindrops! I put my hood of my poncho up, and I drank away! Katie enjoyed getting wet and playing in the puddles.

PA090095.jpg

PA090098.jpg

Then Emily joined in, and I had to do a few “Mom looks” when they splashed a little too close to the party standing next to us. I didn’t care so much about myself getting wet, because at this point I had most of my slushie and was feeling nice and relaxed!

PA090101.jpg

Illuminations got started and was great! We couldn’t see some of the effects as the cloud cover was so thick, but I was glad we were able to see what we did. Shawn used my camera to take some of the pics since it is waterproof. They didn't turn out too great, but I will post a couple:

PA090108.jpg

DSC_0152.jpg

One thing that was really neat was, because of the low cloud cover, some of the laser type effects were cutting through the clouds and almost made it look very super-natural! Kind of neat.

After Illuminations, Michael and Emily were very tired (no nap, remember) but Katie was A-ok and wide awake! So I let the two older ones ride in the stroller, and Katie walked alongside of us in the rain. We decided (bad decision) to go out of the World Showcase the opposite way of the way we came in – you know, so we could see the whole World Showcase!

Well, by the time we got to America (the ½ way point) the rain started coming down so hard you could barely see! But it was hilarious at this point and everyone seemed in good spirits! Ironically, Michael and Emily managed to fall asleep in the stroller wearing their ponchos and didn’t budge the whole time.

DSC_0160.jpg

The only little problem was my MIL had been wearing tennis shoes this day, and apparently, with the wetness, her toes were rubbing up against her shoes and she had some pretty nasty blisters/bruises on her toes. She stopped at the kiosk right at the bridge leading to Future World and bought herself some pink Minnie mouse mary jane style crocs! Much better!

Here was Katie while we were waiting:
DSC_0166.jpg

DSC_0167-1.jpg

Before heading out, we decided to stop at Mouse Gears and do some shopping. I really wanted to find Katie some Pjs to change her as she was soaking wet (even with her poncho on). We looked and looked and couldn’t find any PJs in her size, but I did manage to find her a T-shirt that sort of acted as a nightgown!

And I also bought some kitchen stuff that I felt the need to not leave without! :rolleyes1

Along with an antennae topper.

But what I was really looking for were the decals for your car that have the man/woman/boy/girl wearing mouse ears. Well I finally found them but they didn’t have any “boy” decals or “woman” decals. Go figure!

Here is a picture of my kitchen items that I took when we got home (and the mickey magnets I bought earlier outside of the Nemo ride):

PA190529.jpg

PA190530.jpg

We finished up our purchases and headed out of the park about 10:00. I couldn't help but wonder how my buddy Nichole (kaysmommie) was doing at the Halloween party tonight over at the MK! I hoped she was doing ok!

The kids all went to sleep when we got home and most of us grown-ups hit the showers before heading to bed. The guys had the Segway tour in the morning, but the rest of us were sleeping in!

(Come to find out...that night on the news they said Orlando had some tornado warnings...)

Wow - you really did hit a lot of rain that night! I'm glad you all kept a good attitude though and were able to enjoy the night. Love the sleeping kids in the stroller - what a life!

I'm glad you (sorta) got your GGLCS - we'll be sure that you get to really enjoy one in just two short weeks!

Love your kitchen purchases! I actually had the same untensils in my hand but put them down when Sam had to use the bathroom - I never went back to get them. Hmmm - something to add to my December shopping list.

:flower3: So nice to think of us over at MNSSHP. By that time we were on our way back to CBR after being in 2 feet of water in Tomorrowland :sad2: . tornado warnings :scared1: I didn't even know. Mind you you could not even see it was raining so hard at MK and it was a bit windy.
Loved your update and pics. :cool1: that you got your GGLCS! I need to try one of those next time. France CS sounds good too. Love the picture sleeping Emily and poor soaking wet but still smiling Katie :goodvibes . We have lots of Mickey items for our kitchen too, those are very cute though.

Thanks Michelle! They were so tired that they never budged in that stroller - even when we walked into the freezing cold MouseGears to shop.

I have more of that kitchen stuff on my list for our trip! It's so cute! And every time I cook with it I think of Disney! It certainly does put a smile on my face!

Thanks Nichole! I really was wondering about you at the party - after all the decision-making turmoil we put ourselves through - you hate to see something like that happen and I was really hoping you guys were still able to have a good time!

That rain was ridiculous! It wasn't like a nice gentle rain, it was crazy, major downpours and lots of wind ! (I did not post the pics that Shawn took of me and my mom at the end of our Epcot day - way too scary! :scared1: ) At least Katie is cute....so I could post her soaked picture!

I was hoping and praying it wouldn't be that way the next night for MNSSHP!

Don't worry Jo! I can try and let you know when I'm gonna try and drink one, so you can take cover from the inevitable rain that will probably follow! Or hailstorm. Or mudslide. Or riot. Or flood. Or avalanche...:rolleyes1

Thanks for reading! Good luck on the report! They really are fun - just a little time consuming! But it's all good...it helps prolong the trips and curb the Disney depression when you return! :goodvibes

France CS sounds yummy. Hmm... I PROMISE you will get a GGLS to enjoy no matter what! What great weather you had!:rolleyes1 Sounds like you guys made the most of it and had a great day anyway. I can't wait to see Illuminations! Haven't seen it in a couple of years. I love the pic of Katie soaking wet! She looks so happy. Can't wait to eventually read more!:lmao:

Thanks Monica! The french CS was really tasty! The ham and cheese croissant was lightly toasted so the cheese was melted and it was yum, yum, yummy! Would have been a good meal to enjoy my GGLCS with!
We did try to make the most out of the rain. Had it been at the beginning of the day, it might have been a different story...but when you are already looking like he** at the end of the day, a little rain isn't life-altering! Of course, I say "little"....when in fact, it was drenching!!! :rotfl:
