Will I be Herding Cats Again?* **** COMPLETED *****

Day 6 - Magic Kingdom
Part 6 - Tragedy in Toontown

Ok, wrapping things up here....probably only 2 more installments after this one, can you believe it?

After our very fun, albeit brief, ride on Barnstormer, we walked over to the house of mouse...Minnie Mouse that is! This place is so cute - we always love going in there and checking out all the details. Why oh why did they leave Mickey's house so blah - Minnie's is so much more fun and interactive!

(Yes, it was almost completely empty in there! YAY!!!)

(the kids loved seeing the "inspiration" behind the Barnstormer roller coaster!

We checked out all the cheesy items in the fridge...

Then we exited and I got a couple of pics in the gazebo.

Then we were headed to Mickeys house!! I popped my head into the Hall of Fame Character area to see how long the wait was, and it said 20 minutes, so I thought we should keep moving.

But now....looking back...I am regretting that. :sad1: This was before Pixie Hollow (I would have stopped for a 20 minute line for that one, LOL), but I figured with meeting the Fab 5 on our first day at Epcot and meeting all the Pooh characters that morning, plus Cinderella and "family" at 1900 PF, that we could keep moving and no one would be the wiser.

But like I said, I do sort of regret this, because I think that honestly, it would have been less than 20 minutes, and the crowds had been non-existent up until this point, and it was our last day, and...well, you know....hindsight.......20/20....all that.......

Into Mickey's house we went......

.....And out again in like 1 minute flat.

Really, why is the Head Mouse's house such a bore?

DSC_0371.jpg

When we exited Mickeys house, I looked to my left and saw a SLEW of characters. TONS of them. So I started walking that way and was quickly told by a CM standing right there that they were finishing up and if I wanted to see more characters, I could go inside the tent, blah, blah, blah....yeah, yeah, I know....

I was really hoping to see some of those characters too, especially the penguin from Mary Poppins! Cute! Oh well! It was fine though, my kids weren't upset or anything. They are much more interested in the rides at this stage. We made our way to the train to hop a ride around to Frontierland.

We were all looking forward to our nice, relaxing trip around the WDW railroad line! It was here, I believe, that Michael realized he had forgotten his hat at the Crystal Palace. It was a Grumpy hat he had been wearing for the last couple of days. He was kind of bummed about it, but I assured him we would check back at the CP before leaving the park to see if anyone had turned it in. I'll let you know right now that I forgot to do that. Oops. Bad Mommy!

It's on my list of things to try and find in the parks in May - a replacement Grumpy hat!

Ok, so here comes the train....

Toot Toot!

And CRUNCH!

???????????? What was that? ?????????????????

Uh-oh....Shawn looks peeved.

Apparently right after he snapped that last picture of the train, his lens broke on his camera....his very expensive camera! Just broke right off the front of the camera.

Oh brother.

I had the stroller, and we started to board as he fiddled with it and then mumbled a few choice words (under his breath, I assure you) and climbed aboard as well. We sat back for our enjoyable little journey to Main St and then on to Frontierland....but I was afraid to look back to see what Shawn's face might look like!

But when I did, I was pleasantly surprised....he was ok...frustrated but ok, no smoke pouring out of his ears or anything....

He had bought the warranty! Phew! It was all good, but he was quite bummed about not having his camera for the rest of the trip. But like he said, at least if it was gonna happen, it was on our last day, right?

(The hat-less and camera-less duo!) :(

WOW! Mad props to dh for not freaking out about the camera!!! :scared1: The warranty is up on mine - exactly why I'm leaving the DSLR at home this trip! ;) (I'm sure this is hard to imagine, but I'm not the most graceful person in the world - accidents happen upon me quite often :rolleyes1 )

It's so sad to think that your report is almost over! :guilty:

What a pain about the camera but I'm glad he didn't get too cross!

I have often thought the very same thing!! :confused3

Sorry about the camera... at least, as you pointed out, it happened on the last day and not on the first!

Sigh... last day! :sad1:

Kathy

Another great update Sara! Looks like Minnie's house was a lot of fun!

Too bad about the camera but props to Shawn for keeping his cool - i can't imagine my BF staying calm in a situation like that (i can't imagine myself staying calm either)!

i wish it wasn't almost over!

Sara,

Great installment! I'm glad DH wasn't to upset about the camera lense and had the warrenty.

Great update Sara! Love Minnie's house! And I've never seen it that empty! We always have tons of other kids in our pictures when we are there.

Sorry about the camera lens - that stinks! Like you said though, thankfully it was the last day and under warranty! Phew!

Can't believe it is almost over. :sad1: I hope you'll be doing a report of your May trip!

I know - I was happy he didn't flip out! He made up for it later when dealing with getting it fixed though! :sad2:

He stayed calm....he was probably subconsciously happy he didn't have to constantly seek out the shots anymore....:guilty:

Thanks Sare! He was irritated that it happened, but I was happy he stayed calm :cool2:

Sara,

I was glad it was under warranty...could have made for a much different last day, you know? :headache:

Unfortunately because Shawn's camera broke there are much fewer pics for the rest of the day. Wonder why...

Pretty sure I will do a May report...maybe with guest stars....:rolleyes1

Just got all caught up, and sorry that it's almost over! I'm looking forward to the next post :goodvibes I think I am going to do a TR about our trip when we return. We leave the day after tomorrow and I can't hardly believe it :woohoo:

Great update! I love the pics in Minnie's house. It is usually so packed in there and impossible to get pics without 100 strangers in them :goodvibes. That stinks about the characters, figures they were rare ones too ;). Sorry about Shawn's camera :headache:, at least he wasn't too POed. Mine would have been in a horrible mood the rest of the day :rolleyes1 but he never buys warranties. What kind of camera was it? Just asking because we just got a Nikon D60 and I can still add the warranty. So what are your plans for your last night in May? Don't want to be a pain since I know it's you and hubby's getaway from kids trip. But we may either got to DTD or go to Poly for dinner and watch Wishes, not sure yet. I told Tom if i can squeeze in a drink with you at Tambu Lounge then it's on the list.

I hope you do a report Katie! I would love to read it! I might get some good ideas for our adults only trip in May!

I can't believe you guys are just about there....:dance3:

Thanks Nichole! It is a Nikon D80 and he had the warranty on the camera itself but also on this particular lens. It was a pain getting it fixed though and all the restraint he showed in Disney when it broke, was gone when he was dealing with getting it repaired. They told him 3 to 4 weeks and it took about 11 weeks to get it back! He was a bit peeved to say the least, especially since he wanted the camera back in time for a trip to Vegas he had at the beginning of December, and it still wasn't ready. :headache: He barely had it back in time for Christmas!

As far as May, as of right now, our last full day (Saturday) will be spent at Epcot - we are planning on Illuminations that night. Sunday AM we are having breakfast at Kona followed by (hopefully) a boat ride around the lagoon! If you are at the Poly for dinner and Wishes, we could meet up for a drink in the Lounge Sat. night! Michelle might be around too, right Michelle? Let's definitely plan something! :thumbsup2

That stinks about the camera :headache: well at least he did get it back for the holidays. When you spend that much that should have that lens back to you promptly. Saturday night I'll probably be exhausted from the whole day of traveling to Nashville and then flying. But if you girls want to meet up then I will definitely be there :).

::yes:: We are planning to be there Saturday and Sunday nights. As of now it will be just Sam and I. She thinks we are just going for a night but I just added the second. I'd love to meet up with you girls! :yay:

Great! Maybe Kaylee and Samantha can meet too, depends on what the plan is. What are your plans Saturday and Sunday. You can PM me if you want. I'm still having trouble deciding on my schedule for Sunday. I have 2 sets of Itineraries  but need to make up my mind because of ADR's.

That sounds great! We are staying at CBR (thanks to your last TR) and are celebrating Sam's birthday (a week early). Our plan is to hang at the resort on Saturday, maybe DTD and then whatever meet up we decide on that evening/afternoon. Sunday we will probably be going to MK. :goodvibes

I was wondering if you were going for Samantha's Birthday. Too bad I didn't book CBR. Thomas really wanted to stay there for his Bday but I had no idea how upset he would be until after I rented points. We might go to DTD for dinner, and Sunday the plan is either Epcot or a waterpark. But my kids can't wait to go to HS to go on their favorite rides :confused3 so who knows.

Hey Sara! I haven't been on here in like a week! It was nice to have some updates to read while I'm sick. It really sounds like a great day so far!! Sorry about Shawn's camera, but at least it's covered and it was the last day AND he got those fabulous pictures that morning. We've never been on the Indy cars and it's been years since we've done Minnie and Mickey's houses. I love your close up pictures of the kids! Those are cute. The ones we have eachother in December, not so much! I look forward to hearing the end of this wonderful story! Sorry I've been MIA.:)
